20 years ago before they started rehabing the bridge I visited it and noticed the spiral roadbed that would bring northbound trains from the west side river tracks up to the west side of the bridge heading east....not sure how they have fared since...at the time they were clearly visible......it would make a fantastic addition to the walking trail if rehabed as it would allow walkers to go down to the water line on a even steady grade...

Russ, this is the last video of yours that I found. I believe it was 70 or 71 videos, unless you have some under another name. Rounding off to even minutes, I walked 1,939 minutes to your presentations, or 32.31 hours. At my treadmill pace of 3.4 mph (I’m no spring chicken), that comes to 109.85 miles of pleasure that I’ve accompanied you. It’s been an absolute pleasure and learning experience for me; I almost feel that I know you. Thanks so much, and I hope you and the family and friends produce many more videos! From Sugarloaf, PA, many thanks!

Loved the restaurant, the caboose and the scenery. I do have a question on the turntable…..I never really noticed before, but the “sidewalls” of the structure appear to be tapered …. less height at the ends, and thicker in height at the center, tapered, so to speak. Would this be typical of most turntables? Our treadmill tours with you are almost finished! Only 1 or 2 videos to view yet. Thanks, Russ.

Absolutely disgusting attitude from Ulster County. D&URR historically leased that passing siding at highmount, with plans to operate it again. It's almost like Ulster County is allergic to rental income. Let's all fight to make sure that passing loop gets utilized by the D&U. It's in everyone's best interest.

A nice trip this morning. I am curious, at about the 21 minute 30 second part of the video, you show appear where the narrow gauge railroad used to cross the water. If you look down at the water, it appears that something goes through the waterat a straight angle across the creek. Would you know what this might be? You can almost see the color difference between the water and whatever it is crossing through the water. Thanks for your tour of the Ulster Delaware. Another enjoyable walk for me this morning. FYI - There is a tall (~20 feet) stone abutment in amazing condition in Salt Point. It's where a line crossed The Little Wappingers Creek. It's back in the woods a ways but accessible. No issues walking back to it. Using the info you provide I believe it would have been the Pokeepsie & Conn line.

@@lostrailbeds8289 Yes. To access you can park at the firehouse on Cottage St in Salt Point. From there you can walk through the field behind the firehouse on the north end following the Little Wappingers Creek. Continue into a 2nd flat field further back that has the creek running along side. At the far south east corner of that 2nd field and into the woods just a little bit you'll find the abutments. The look undisturbed to me. If you go in hunting season be careful! Hunters have blinds not far from the abutments. If you let me know when you're going I could meet you there.
