Same with TV's. If they break faster, you will need to pay them to repair it our replace it. Either way, they make out. If their products last for decades, well they don't make as much money. I had the same symptoms today. My problem was that although the whole pan was totally dry, the foam disc (9:56 minute mark) in the limit switch was deformed - shaped like saucepan lid - and it permanently forced the limit switch closed. I temporarily removed the foam disc and the machine worked perfectly. So you can try that if you have the Normal light flashing yet the pan is totally dry.
