How These 3 Films Rebuilt Vietnam After the War
Переглядів 4832 місяці тому
We can all name some American movies about the Vietnam War. But can you name at least a single one that was made in Vietnam? History is usually written by the winners, but somehow the Vietnamese perspective has been neglected in the West for the most part, especially the way it’s been told in Vietnamese Cinema. I chose 3 films to explore their point of view on the Vietnam War, which also show h...

Indian Cinema and Soviet Movie-Going after Stalin" by Rajagopalan Sudha. It was my main source of information for this video. You're Not an Artist

“That’s the beginning of the end of a career, when you start to believe you are an artist, instead of striving for the outmost professionalism in the telling of a story.” These are William Friedkin's words on whether he thinks a filmmaker is an artist or not, from the documentary "Friedkin Uncut". It stuck with me ever since I heard it, and I've seen other directors and people on UA-cam discuss...

I share my thoughts on excessive movie watching and its effects on filmmakers. The original interviews with Orson Welles: ua-cam.com/video/tRPnDEF9KTw/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/TwlbqnsNZ3g/v-deo.html The movies at minute 1:35, clockwise starting from the first one that appears on the top left: Vacations in Prostokvashino (1980) Amrapali (1966) Out on the Great Ranch (1936) The Leopard (1963) ...

Louis de Funès: The French King of Comedy

Not many people in the English-speaking world have ever heard of Louis de Funès, especially among the new generations. Nevertheless, he was the highest paid actor in all of Europe in the 60s and 70s. But what made him such an internationally popular film star and how did he there? Films shown or mentioned in the video: Le Gendarme se marie (1968) La Grande Vadrouille (1966) La Folie des grandeu...

Watching movies impacts me negatively as a human
Two Words: EDWARD ABBEY
2:16 What is wrong with 3 hour films?
great video! Love this movie
OK folks let’s all be honest here. I love the old Bollywood movies. But the only reason they were so popular in the USSR and communist Europe back in the day is because only Indian movies could be imported and distributed. The moment these restrictions relaxed in the late 1980s Russian stopped watching Bollywood movies and switched to Western. Simple as that.
नमस्ते 🙏 ; मेरे अंदर की दिव्यता आप के अन्दर की दिव्यता को नमन करती है ।
This is good...
5:39 Man that image goes so hard (no pun intended). People from such different cultures getting along like you couldn’t imagine. It happens now as well, but back then there was no internet to facilitate this. Pure love.
We watch rat eat baby right after Saturday night entertainment show: Grandma freeze in local food line 🗿
@3:08 Is that Mithun Chakraborti???
Yes...
4:38 Well now that you speak of it, in childhood I used to sing "I am a disco dancer" all the time. Why did I do that? I was born in 2006, way after 1982 the release year of this movie.
Haha appreciate the enthusiasm, early 2000s had a touch of soviet and old Bollywood, I was born in 2006 too and I remember being the biggest fan of Mithun
Way Mithun da in your thumbnail
Love for India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
The background flute music you used is Newari music from Nepal 🇳🇵
My suggestion to you is to take a look at the Soviet Azerbaijani movies, especially movies such as Arşın Mal Alan, o olmasın bu olsun, Nesimi, Babak, etc. are of good quality, and in accordance with the video genre, yeddi ogul isterem, Axırıncı aşırım and qaçak Zemi are also good movies.
Quick new idea for next video topic … make how westerners have rebranded Indian invention as their own 😊 like example: Indian yoga is rebranded as Christian yoga, chai tea latte, leaf plate, golden milk of Starbucks ( haldi milk )…etc
Thanks for the suggestion, but it's not very related to cinema. I only make videos on films and film history.
Now Russians are just violently racist towards Indians and propagandistically support every far right party in western Europe and America. Shame.
Mithun Chakraborty was very popular in USSR. Sadly, his achievements are suppressed in Indian Media. The first Bollywood movie to earn ₹100 crore was "Disco Dancer". Mithun Chakraborty came from a humble background and was born in a Bengali family in West Bengal and became a Superstar in Bollywood.
The fact that the "1907 Tiflis bank robbery" hasn't been adapted into a Eastern is an offense to historical fun.
I never heard of that event, just looked it up and I agree that it could definitely be a fun Eastern. It's especially crazy to see that Stalin and Lenin were some of the main organizers of the robbery! But I guess it falls a bit outside of the time period generally depicted in Easterns, which tends to be just the 1920s.
@@KinoKirill I always think of the epic trailer remix of "The Gambler" whenever I think about somebody making a movie about this; just a hyper stylized heist period piece.
Saw mithun da in thumbnail was forced to click the video.
I am from India but I thought it was the band "vesyolye rebyata"
We all grew up with "Awaraa Hu" 😀Whether it s Russsia, or Germany, or Türkiye.... Bollywood for the Win!
There was a cultural exchange between India & Russia. India sent movies and Russia sent literatures. Back then, there was no internet. It was the only way. Russian literature was part of Indian school syllabus. I am Bangladeshi. Even we grew up reading Tolstoy and Dostoevsky.
What remains is memories of past. With time India and Russia both societies have changed, some favorable and many unfavourable results. But change is continuing process, let's hope for best in these tough times. Love from India.
To be honest, even The Beatles were infatuated with India at the time. The population wasn't too large and some areas were fairly well conserved. Off-topic, French New-Wave was abysmal.
the flute sound track is from a newari song wochugali by Prem Dhoj Pradhan from Nepal
As an Indian, I've never watched this movie Disco Dancer and let me tell you this wasn't all that famous except for its dance numbers. What's really a critical success is Sholay - the other movie shown in this video. Its also a defining movie of Indian cinema just Like Aawara, Mother India or Mugha-E-Azam, portraying here India's version of Spaghetti Western. Newer notable movies are the oscar nominated Lagaan.
I hope the People of both countries remain joyous, prosperous, and protected from everything, our governments are Messy, but we all arnet, cheers to every one who read this, may God bless you and your Nation,
Damn! Indians cooking - Soviet Union probably
Eager to know, at 1:33 why is Disco Dancer blurred?
Probably surprise part for next video ig or idk
India was a captalist country 1:05?
unfortunately bollywood has lost its charm. Now they're pumping out movies just for the sake of it
soon times are coming back I guess.😂
USSR treated India with mutual respect. USSR never tried to dominate us or manipulate our internal politics or attempted to steal our resources. That which happened to every country went close to USA. USA robs every country.
Research before you speak, both KGB and CIA tried to influnce indian politics heavily during 60s and 70s I'm not pro-west but soviets just wanted indis to dominate south asia through there sphere of influnce all becuase we had socialist goverment
@@KavitaPatil-hg5qm you can’t produce a single case. Enough of your socialism hate, miss Hindutva extremist!
No wonder so many eastern Europeans come to India, Russian people joining Hindus etc. Interesting. ISKON has a big presence in Russia I heard.
OHH btw all the music you have used are folk nepali tunes. haha
Awara hun, Awara hun.
3:17 0:58 Background Music used in this video are not from India. It's from Nepal.
Dude just used Mithon Dada picture in thumbai, He is my uncle btw😂
Incredible how small the world is 😂
Obviously if you had no other options, then you will have to accept whatever available. In my opinion, Italian and Iranian cinema are the best.
Even now they ask us about disco dancer and those bollywood names while walking in streets those people will interact good in russia. But we only know after they asking about them ! I don't even know hindi and even idk about my own language starts from 60s and 70 that much! But those grandma's and grandpa's will have good vibe! ❤ Missing russia so much!
I grew up in a steel plant township that was built by the soviets under the 5 year planning commissions. We have a Russian Complex in the middle of the township. A few russians stayed back and didnt go back to Russia post 1991.
I grew up in a town where the steel plant was built with Soviet collaboration. My childhood was heavily influenced by reading books from MIR publishers in USSR. Misha was a regular magazine. Made friends through it. Wrote letters to Ilya, Anna and Badruddin (Bodu). Letters stopped coming after '91. Hope they are all doing well.
Satyajit ray is legend❤
The background music is actually Nepalese traditional music
Me watching the thumbnail : wtf when did mithun da became a comrade?😂
Those nostalgic soviet times
👍🏼🙏🏼🇮🇳❤️🇧🇾🇷🇺
nice explanation. subscribed
Surprising how a society which listens to Kino also enjoys something like Bollywood
