Amazing speaker

Great speaker. But in this talk, he jumps all over the place, and his timetable is a little off because of the jumping from story to story. If you are not aware of the dates, it's easy to think some event happened in 1937 when it really happened in 1939. Or something that happened in 1940 seems to have happened in 1938. But he does tell a good story although inaccurate at times.

Question: I have been sober for 11 years. I only attended 1 AA meeting when I was 3 months sober with my bf at the time. A week later, I found out I was pregnant and told my bf and he dumped me, saying he didn't want me to keep the baby. I kept the baby and went the route of a sober coach to keep me sober in that first year. I did not return to AA meetings as I did not want to run into my ex. Fast forward, 11 years and I currently have zero desire for alcohol yet what I am missing in my life is sober friends. Do I attend open or closed? If open, how do I meet if I cannot speak and only observe?

That's why the saying goes: one is too many and a thousand is never enough!

I appreciated the humility but didn’t agree with the conclusion. Tradition 5 doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Traditions 1-4 come first and tradition 3 tells us quite clearly that the drug addict was welcome in AA from the beginning. He didn’t do a test to see what substance was a greater problem. He was in because he said he was in (step 3) and he was the one to determine he was alcoholic or not (all through the big book we are told we don’t diagnose others with alcoholism. They diagnose themselves). The purpose of every step and every tradition is greater humility. So you were great in sharing your experience to decide to only identify as an alcoholic. I do the same. But when you move beyond your own actions and start worrying about what others are allowed to say and whether they should be in aa or not you move out or humility and into playing God imho

After, 38 year's of sobriety, not much debate makes any sense. Because, nothing from nothing is impossible to get something from . Nothing is greater than God So, whenever you're giving it away, how are you keeping it? And, if you're one who wants, what l have, just, what is it you don't have? Persona, just, could be labeled a principle ,what lenghts have been gone thru, only to find out. Enough is enough and don't want it anymore.booze addictions are all I your mind. With , that mindset, recovery is nil. If, if, you gladly, want to refund misery l 💬 u're lacking sobriety. If, your sober and you know it 👏 your hands. How can you give a bad name to a bunch of drunks? Recovered, Alcoholic 's on the other hand? Sounds like lording over the point, humans are falibable and is there anyone perfect? Just, 💬🤔 of all, the time you wasted, when you could have done something?😊❤😊❤🎉😂

I now have a commitment to lead the 12 and 12 book meeting in my home group. Traditions make sense as I read them, and then I completely forget them (mostly due to my age-73)

Billy N. Is spot on about so many things that are challenging to an AA member, and especially an AA member who is in a service position. We must know where we came from if we are toy bring the AA message to the new man.

I have just starting listening this past week and I find him very informative and helpful in my newly appointed service position. Having said that I refer to AA’s current,past service people and GSO. Gathering all this morning and praying to my higher regularly I hope I can put AA ahead of my own self and any outside entities.

I heard Tami speak at a March Round-Up or a Tri-County convention outside of Detroit in 2017 or 2018 when I was, at best, a year and a half sober. Her story moved me and inspired me and deposited a little more willingness into my program. The only fitting thank you is to be there when the next hand reaches out for help, but it sure would be nice to thank her someday, for her openness and honesty in sharing her experience, strength, and hope.

Oh my what a blessing. Truly inspiring.

There’s a big difference between having a resentment and rage due to trauma. Many in the fellowship will say “pray for the person”. That’s not in the first 164 pages. That was written by a woman who was 2 years sober in one of the stories in the back of the book. I tried every suggestion the first 164 pages had to offer and nothing worked. EMDR therapy did though. Now the memories still there but the emotions gone. Worked perfect. Not a knock on the program it’s worked perfect for my alcoholism, sober 28 years happy joyous and free. But not for trauma, which can be misconstrued as a resentment and can cause much more serious problems than alcoholism, like murder for instance. Be careful who you listen to in the fellowship. Lot of crazies. If you take offense to this post, you’re one of them.

Great pitch by both. I especially like Clancy in this, one of his best. I’ve been struggling carrying the message and these guys hit it on the head. You have to get through that wall, if the person doesn’t identify with the problem, they aren’t going to understand or appreciate the solution no matter how well you lay it out. You have to get through that wall of identification first. Good stuff by two fine AA members. And Johnny who’s done a lotta drugs noting the difference between drug use and “alcoholism”. Extremely valuable information from both. Thanks!

Interesting to hear Johnny as he gets older. Can tell his love for what he found here, in Alcoholics Anonymous. They say gratitude is an action. And Johnny has taken the action of telling his story for many years. To me his story is a testament of how the fellowship and the program can turn a (in his words in many of his pitches) a parasite of society, into someone who has helped so many. Selfish to selfless. Complete change. Psychic change. His generation and he in particular passed on a message that was pure. His deep respect for AA is something you can hear in his voice. I hope these speaker tapes stay on UA-cam it’s a big help to newcomers today to listen to. I have the people I help listen to Johnny and frank jones and Clancy and all the old timers. Thanks for posting. It’s helping this new generation hear a good strong message that sometimes gets lost today.
