My dad was a fireman on 630,722,and 4501 out of Charleston SC. He would tell the fireman that he is putting to much coal in the firebox because the stack is dark. The locomotive is telling the crew that but I don't think that the crews no that.

I rode the Big 6 up and down Bald Knob and I got to blow the whistle which was a Mann’s Creek 3 chime. That was back in 2016 when I was 16

It’s a shame they removed the southern 3 chime. I liked that whistle.
