प्राचीन काळापासून भारतामध्ये परमार्थाचे विविध संप्रदाय प्रचलित होते. अशा संप्रदायांत मोडणारा अलिकडचा संप्रदाय म्हणजे चिमड संप्रदाय. कर्नाटकातील चिमड नावाचे गावावरून या संप्रदायाला चिमड संप्रदाय असे नाव पडले. याचा प्रचार कर्नाटक व महाराष्ट्रामध्ये आहे. या संप्रदायात फार मोठे संत-सज्जन होऊन गेले.
