Beginning to completion Oil painting in time-lapse. Lynmouth is a village on the northern edge of Exmoor in North Devon. The village is where the West Lyn and East Lyn rivers meet. I decided to take in the view across the Bay for this painting looking towards Countisbury Hill.

Still working on this one, but here's a little glimpse starting with the sky. Love this part when I can just scribble on the paint, then the clouds need to be added. Full video of painting soon - the first layer of oil paint is nearly dry. Can't wait to add the start to finish video.

After waiting for paint to dry, I have finally added detail / shading etc here in part 2. Using my trusty and favourite paint brushes, I also enjoy palette knife work, which gives more texture to the piece than brush work. I hope you enjoy this video.

I already have oil paintings in the Centre, thought it would be nice to add the extras. When the display is set up on the 27th, I'll video it all.

Title of painting: “I was made for sunny days”…. Some months ago I painted the first layer of this oil on canvas. I get back to them 'eventually', and this is that day. I will look at this artwork in a few weeks to see what needs adjusting. (I try not to do more than three passes of oil on a painting). *note: the lighting makes the blues look brighter than it actually is.

Do you use gesso?
On some pages it was gesso…other pages were pva (glue), that makes a very nice surface and is smoother than gesso. Still experimenting with this sketchbook and I’ll do an overall review when I have tried more paintings on these pages. 🙂
