This very symphony actually has some great writing for us.
@@brokenATM I know it well. Somone asked me to post an orchestral video.. and as I don’t play in an orchestra I tried to be funny. My favourite movement had to be Urlicht… it’s beautiful.
Beautifulll n joyous x
Thank you! 😊
Never heard this before - love it! Thank you for sharing
Nice one! It isn't an easy arrangement to play properly 😎
@@drmartynthomas wow! I didn’t expect a reply you sir! It’s fantastic though!
I love playing this piece ! 😊 (horn player)
Sounds great - Nice to hear a Xylophone Solo especially when I am the composer. Thank you
What a rip roaring version of this. Your conductor certainly gives it some welly.
@@markshrimpton3138 thanks mark. Put md is utterly brilliant!
It’s definitely sounding like Christmas!
I’m slowly getting there! 😂
Use having fun working with this government
Brilliant.
Thanks for giving your thoughts and experience of BTF,- I’ve never been but great to hear a review from an honest player, rather than from the “ elite” or from the sales side👍
@@wayneosborne5302 well as a result I’ve become the brass band representative for the society
Hey that’s pretty brilliant!- more power to you.👍
@ I’ll be doing a proper announcement once it’s all sorted. I think the society is someone definitely worth getting involved with. The festival Offers some great opportunities for musicians of all levels to get involved. It’s only £28 to join for the year and the festival would have cost £20 alone. I got discount at Rath on my service and discount on a couple of items from Hercules.
Always brings a lump to my throat.
@@markshrimpton3138 it’s lovely isn’t it. Were also playing Evening Hymn and Last post which is really moving.
@@BritishBrassBandinguk every year I attend my local Remembrance Service where I live in Scotland. Especially I think about my paternal grandfather who served from 1914 to 1918 and brother, Robert who was killed on the Somme. My own father, who died last November, served in the far east towards the end of the Second World War. This year I’ll remember him to plus various uncles and great uncles.
Euphonium player here, relatable 😂
So true! Every brass instrument is a trumpet. I went to a trombone festival the other weekend…. Someone at work asked me if I took my trumpet….. ermmmmm
My sister thinks it’s a trombone
Keep going with it. Intonation isn't a problem that trombonists solve and that's it. It continually comes back and even experienced players and professionals continue to have to work on it right throughout their playing careers. Learning the basic seven slide positions is only the starting point too, you'll find you'll need to micro adjust on the different harmonic partials when playing higher and lower, not to mention using the F valve (only six slide positions not seven....) It's a complete Pandora's box but stick with it, yeah use your tuner (only when your instruments warm) as a starting point, and use your ears in the bandroom as believe it or not other instruments also play certain notes slightly out of tune for which you'll need to compromise on.......
@@fowkesme thanks for the nice comments. I’m just recording a bit of a tune I’ve been working on so watch this space!
I apologise if what for me was a joke has upset you. My comment was a play on the title of the hymn and about the band generally not you personally.
@@delbrassfan I’ve just received a lot of flack recently had it’s getting me down a bit if I’m honest. But I appreciate your comment.
Class 😂
I hope you can see how much work went into the special fx …. 😂 🤦
Everyday bass players
What kind of trombone is it?
It’s a straight Bb trombone.
@@BritishBrassBandinguk I have a Yamaha Bb trombone. That trombone is beautiful
@@manuelturizo-pb6wo I was lucky enough to get a tour around the factory. The hand made Rath trombones are amazing. Well worth the money!

@@free_man96 thanks mate! I really appreciate it. I had some real nasty comments recently.
Nhaa just ignore dem its alr@@BritishBrassBandinguk
Love playing this. Just close the gaps on the early chords and listen to the basses and match their articulation and length for the walking bass notes thereafter. Great effort though…👍
Thanks. It’s been such an uphill battle to get here. We’ve only got bass at the moment so it’s sometimes hard to hear them.
Are u using a mercer and barker mouthpiece? I use the MB4W myself on my Eb tuba I find it a marvelous mouthpiece.
@@jeltewijnsma892 I am indeed! I love it, just I could actually play my trombone! 😂 Where in the world are you based?
@@BritishBrassBandingukI live in the netherlands I also play in a brassband.
Dear British people!(and Me) PROUD TO BE BRITISH!!!!!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 THIS IS AN IMPORTANT THING!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
should use your trigger for some of those but great effort, keep going....
I do for most parts, I just find the 6th position a bit more free flowing and helps me get that raspy sound for this particular piece. I’m very slowly getting there, I’m just over a year in on bass trombone now.
I like it, 🎉
Thank you!
What a sound ! ( Mind you having a Michael Rath beast might just help a bit ) !! All the best .
Thanks! It’s that and a decent mouthpiece. I’m still working on lots of issues with my playing, but I’m getting there.
I'm British too!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great to hear!
@@BritishBrassBandingukThank you!🇬🇧
Anything by Handel is okay with me. One of my favourite songs is Where E'er You Walk.
@@markshrimpton3138 great piece!
Hi
Hello
Just watched this band in Withernsea, absolutely fantastic
@@LunaMoonfae thanks very much. I’m glad you enjoyed your performance ! We’re playing again on the 12 oct in cottingham!
I’d think about doing practise with long notes and opening up your throat by dropping your jaw. Always infront of a tuner to know if you’re in tune. As you said your sound isn’t very thick I’d work on that to get your sound bigger and your intonation more consistent. Nothing better to practice than the arban. I’m no professional but saying things that have helped me
@@MarcusPaskus thanks Marcus. Funnily I’ve just done another video where I’ve worked on these things.
Better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them 😅
Unfortunately that was me on bass trombone at the beginning! 😂
Your mission if you choose to accept it is to play excellent music.
Is there anything more quintessentially British than Elgar’s Nimrod played by a brass band especially one from God’s own country.
@@markshrimpton3138 thanks for your kind words. This was a very special moment for me in the band. Nimrod is really struck a chord with the commemoration of the d day landings.
@@BritishBrassBandinguk I listened to the band’s rendition of Hymn to the Fallen too. I have to admit it put a tear in my eye. My father who died last November aged 97 was in the far east fighting the Japanese at the time of the D Day landings. My late next-door neighbour served in the REME right the way through the Second World War and was evacuated at Dunkirk and fought his way ashore on D Day. In total he sacrificed nearly 7 years of his young life fighting for our freedoms.
@@markshrimpton3138 l that’s super kind of you Have a listen to Here’s to the Hero’s. We did this with a member from the local British legion.
Outstanding! And beautifully performed.
@@jcopp2031 thanks very much!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Zoom H4e. I recently got one as well and have made some recordings, but having some challenges getting it into Logic Pro to boost audio and things like that - post production. I find that Zoom touts the ability to fix gain in post-production, but none of their videos seem to offer help in how to do that. I'm going to keep researching though because I think this device can be very useful.
I used Adobe audition myself. Works really well
No, thats smart. Like, really smart
Sounding good
those new shoes are so slay
What is this infectious tune?😊😊
It really is! For me it’s Enter the Galaxies! I can’t get enough of that.
The Floral Dace !
Lovely. I played this arrangement at university. Brings back happy memories. Thanks for sharing. :)
I recall the words. T’is the Lord, the king of Glory….the real Christmas message.
It’s a lovely piece. I also played it during some caroling sessions with the Salvation Army which is really special. Happy New Year!
thank you for filming it andrew 😊♥️
