Going back to basics
So after some negative comments on here, I’ve decided to go backwards and try to fix some issues, namely intonation and tuning. Taking up the trombone has been a huge challenge for me and it does upset me when keyboard warriors rather than offering support just criticise. Be kind. #basstrombone #brassband #brassplayer #trombone #brassmusic #music #concertband #trumpet #tuba

I apologise if what for me was a joke has upset you. My comment was a play on the title of the hymn and about the band generally not you personally.
@@delbrassfan I’ve just received a lot of flack recently had it’s getting me down a bit if I’m honest. But I appreciate your comment.
Class 😂
I hope you can see how much work went into the special fx …. 😂 🤦
Everyday bass players
What kind of trombone is it?
It’s a straight Bb trombone.
@@BritishBrassBandinguk I have a Yamaha Bb trombone. That trombone is beautiful
@@manuelturizo-pb6wo I was lucky enough to get a tour around the factory. The hand made Rath trombones are amazing. Well worth the money!
@@BritishBrassBandinguk for me is enough , I'm a beginner
Anyone expecting the Imperial March?
Sorry disappoint!
This is just you! This is the correct answer!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
You are the best brass musician!🇬🇧
Yeah, the TEA is VERY IMPORTANT thing!!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧☺️
So beautiful to hear!🇬🇧
Magical sounds🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍🏻☺️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
@@mikwaukee_mlwk thanks so much!
@@BritishBrassBandinguk you are welcome!🇬🇧
You are soo godt man you now that right
@@free_man96 I’m really not, but thanks for the comments.
Yes you are what do you mean@@BritishBrassBandinguk
very nice playing!
@@louque4978 thank you, I really appreciate it.
You are doing great man keep it up❤
@@free_man96 thanks mate! I really appreciate it. I had some real nasty comments recently.
Nhaa just ignore dem its alr@@BritishBrassBandinguk
Love playing this. Just close the gaps on the early chords and listen to the basses and match their articulation and length for the walking bass notes thereafter. Great effort though…👍
Thanks. It’s been such an uphill battle to get here. We’ve only got bass at the moment so it’s sometimes hard to hear them.
Are u using a mercer and barker mouthpiece? I use the MB4W myself on my Eb tuba I find it a marvelous mouthpiece.
@@jeltewijnsma892 I am indeed! I love it, just I could actually play my trombone! 😂 Where in the world are you based?
@@BritishBrassBandingukI live in the netherlands I also play in a brassband.
Dear British people!(and Me) PROUD TO BE BRITISH!!!!!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 THIS IS AN IMPORTANT THING!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
should use your trigger for some of those but great effort, keep going....
I do for most parts, I just find the 6th position a bit more free flowing and helps me get that raspy sound for this particular piece. I’m very slowly getting there, I’m just over a year in on bass trombone now.
I like it, 🎉
Thank you!
What a sound ! ( Mind you having a Michael Rath beast might just help a bit ) !! All the best .
Thanks! It’s that and a decent mouthpiece. I’m still working on lots of issues with my playing, but I’m getting there.
I'm British too!🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great to hear!
@@BritishBrassBandingukThank you!🇬🇧
Anything by Handel is okay with me. One of my favourite songs is Where E'er You Walk.
@@markshrimpton3138 great piece!
Hi
Hello
Just watched this band in Withernsea, absolutely fantastic
@@LunaMoonfae thanks very much. I’m glad you enjoyed your performance ! We’re playing again on the 12 oct in cottingham!
I’d think about doing practise with long notes and opening up your throat by dropping your jaw. Always infront of a tuner to know if you’re in tune. As you said your sound isn’t very thick I’d work on that to get your sound bigger and your intonation more consistent. Nothing better to practice than the arban. I’m no professional but saying things that have helped me
@@MarcusPaskus thanks Marcus. Funnily I’ve just done another video where I’ve worked on these things.
Better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them 😅
Unfortunately that was me on bass trombone at the beginning! 😂
Your mission if you choose to accept it is to play excellent music.
Is there anything more quintessentially British than Elgar’s Nimrod played by a brass band especially one from God’s own country.
@@markshrimpton3138 thanks for your kind words. This was a very special moment for me in the band. Nimrod is really struck a chord with the commemoration of the d day landings.
@@BritishBrassBandinguk I listened to the band’s rendition of Hymn to the Fallen too. I have to admit it put a tear in my eye. My father who died last November aged 97 was in the far east fighting the Japanese at the time of the D Day landings. My late next-door neighbour served in the REME right the way through the Second World War and was evacuated at Dunkirk and fought his way ashore on D Day. In total he sacrificed nearly 7 years of his young life fighting for our freedoms.
@@markshrimpton3138 l that’s super kind of you Have a listen to Here’s to the Hero’s. We did this with a member from the local British legion.
Outstanding! And beautifully performed.
@@jcopp2031 thanks very much!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Zoom H4e. I recently got one as well and have made some recordings, but having some challenges getting it into Logic Pro to boost audio and things like that - post production. I find that Zoom touts the ability to fix gain in post-production, but none of their videos seem to offer help in how to do that. I'm going to keep researching though because I think this device can be very useful.
I used Adobe audition myself. Works really well
No, thats smart. Like, really smart
Sounding good
those new shoes are so slay
What is this infectious tune?😊😊
It really is! For me it’s Enter the Galaxies! I can’t get enough of that.
The Floral Dace !
Lovely. I played this arrangement at university. Brings back happy memories. Thanks for sharing. :)
I recall the words. T’is the Lord, the king of Glory….the real Christmas message.
It’s a lovely piece. I also played it during some caroling sessions with the Salvation Army which is really special. Happy New Year!
thank you for filming it andrew 😊♥️
Wonderful
Are you going to learn the variations
I don’t think I’m ready for those yet! 😂
Its not precision, but rather speed. Move your slide instantly and tongue along with that
That’s exactly what I’m trying by to achieve.
what was it with me wanting to show fiona every single dog in that park lol
Just got the MB5-ET for my tenor trombone. Only had one rehearsal with it but it's far more secure than me 5ABL I've used for 15 years. I still need time on my M&B unit to properly get used to it, but out the box it's an absolute game changer for me.
I’m not quite secure as this is 29mm which is around 2mm larger than the 2AL. Im still developing my embouchure with it as I’m still a little raspy/splitting some of my higher notes but for the low-end stuff it’s great. Once I’m fully secure with it I’ll be fine.
yooooo it's meeeee
The bugle part was played by the principle cornet who was stood behind the audience. It was a very dramatic effect followed by a short period of reflection. A very moving piece to have been part of.
Brilliant playing by the cornet soloist .

Beautiful , enjoyed playing in such a lovely church

Greeting from a British Brass Band in Ohio! Now let's hear the last variation ;)
Haha! Yeh I think that one’s a bit beyond my capabilities right now! 😂
I have no idea how this ended up in my recommended ,but I love this kind of content and thoroughly looking forward to more!
Thanks very much!
