Why the gag order? This what happens when disputes comes about due to noise incidents. Did HDB, or the Police do anything about the noise? I lived in a condo which had a noisy neighbour who would habitually sit outside his balcony, drink and talk loudly in the wee hours of the night. I approach my condo security and they will just ask me to call the police, while the police says my condo security should speak to the neighbour first. I decided eventually to move out. Never buy a condo with a balcony I learnt. And then i moved to one of oldest estate in SG Tiong Bahru which i later realised had lots of expats. The older ones are fine, but its the young ones who co-share and have parties till late at night. Also there are many alfresco cafes, dining establishments would have diners making noise till at least 10.30pm. And the coffee shops operate till 4am. HDB will just say that as long as they have an outdoor lience they will not do anything about the noise coming from F&B before10.30pm. See in SG the rules low noise only applies from 10.30pm to 7am, so any other hours of the day loud noise is ok. Firstly HDB should relook at outdoor F&B in residential areas. Put a stop it. Why can't they operate within closed doors with aircon? Because of them I have to spend thousands of dollars for noiseproof windows. These F&B should be the one spending to operate within closed doors and aircon cos they are the ones bringing in the noise. The irony is alfresco dining is nice for dinners, then what about the folks staying upstairs who have to close their windows and not have any fresh air due to the noise. Coffeeshops should all close by 11pm cos there have been many cases of residents getting affected by drinkers at coffeeshop.
