    I see 'liberty' is used a lot. I wonder how differently the book would read if the term 'self-determination' were used.

    • @inquiryfromanantilibrary

      In this case, liberty is in contrast to leaders seeking universalism. Liberty would be people self-determining their own values, rather than having values imposed on by a totalitarian leader.

    Yep, the reward thing just motivates people who are narcissists who like gold stars. In school, I freaking hated that stupid reward crap. In work too.. if my pay is linked to performance, I'll cut corners and not enjoy it. Why does capitalism constantly promote this idiotic incentive system? Remember how they took the second worst ebola drug, remdesevir for COVID? Right, incentives and profits give us absolute garbage.

    • @inquiryfromanantilibrary

      Reward and punishment are the popular method to incentivize, the assumption is that it's true. Alternative ways to incentivize people take time to become assimilated.

    • @inquiryfromanantilibrary
      @inquiryfromanantilibrary 4 місяці тому

      In part, from The Shock Doctrine, Klein criticized how government privatized many public functions. Which implies wanting government to retake public functions. Maybe the behavior you observed is consistent, as Klein wanted government to have a larger role. Just in case, The Shock Doctrine was mostly against privatization. Maybe this is a case of an author's bias gone too far?

      @@inquiryfromanantilibrary it was privatized.... Pfizer Moderna got billions... Ppp loans that didn't need to get paid back went to Amazon and other big companies... Mass testing fed testing industries. It was a shock doctrine situation and she went along with it and belittled those that questioned it.

      Recommendation depends on what you are interested in learning about (and what books I read). Can reference two biography books, but up to you to decide. (Blog link next to them) 1) Kepler's Witch: An Astronomer's Discovery of Cosmic Order Amid Religious War, Political Intrigue, and the Heresy Trial of His Mother by James A. Connor (This one is more history related.)(www.inquiryreviews.com/2020/11/review-of-keplers-witch-astronomers.html) 2) "Surely You're Joking, Mr. Feynman!": Adventures of a Curious Character by Richard P. Feynman (This one focuses more on the scientist's personality rather than the science)(www.inquiryreviews.com/2022/05/review-of-surely-youre-joking-mr.html) Two additional notes: 1) There is a book club event for this book. Link listed in the description. 2) This book was about tech, such as development of the computer. There is another book about the topic, which also has a book club event. Chip War: The Fight for the World's Most Critical Technology by Chris Miller (www.inquiryreviews.com/2023/12/review-of-chip-war-fight-for-worlds.html)

He, alone it seems, brought upon the world historical influences had me feining for what he was all about. A solitary living in a rich historical epoch. A young philologist later plunged into madness left me wondering if I, like him, could understand his genius. A profound phrase of his still echoes "I may not have the key to the lock of my madness but who is to say that my key doesn't unlock the locks of others" All to say THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA remains, I suppose, his most readable work. It got tracked on the entreprise of learning native german so that I could some day read him in his native tongue. Your Welcome. Glad to have been introduced to the Assyrian Empire. Can you suggest more books about the region? This book was short.

      @@MonkeyDLuffy-cm4fm Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into that book. A lot of what we know from history, is passed down from generations.

    The anti IP view should be taken much more seriously. It scares me how much overwhelming evidence there is against IP, yet IP laws keep getting broader and stricter. Most people seem stuck thinking that is is an necessary evil, but it is completely unnecessary.

Hopefully more books and ideas become prominent to further elucidate the situation and provide the alternative ways of competing with others and alternative funding sources than a monopoly.
