Cottonwood Farm Life
United States
Приєднався 6 гру 2018
We are a family of eight that moved away from the city (Stockton area) to the country (Cottonwood) to get away from the rat race and start life with a slower pace, more work, but a slower pace! Watch us on our journey as we start our fruit orchard, raise chickens and other live stock, and try to become more self sufficient! We will have great success and most definitely great failures, from which we will learn!

First year orchard trimming and shaping our trees
Переглядів 395 років тому
We planted 30 fruit trees early this year. Built a watering system to keep the water at the trees and know we are shaping the trees to grow how we want the to grow, with lots of space for sunlight and eventually fruit. We cut the branches that would rub each other and get in the way of growth. See what we did and leave feedback, we love hearing good and bad! Thanks and remember to subscribe to ...

Another way to repair, reuse, recycle on the farm! Instead of taking this broken terra cotta pot to the dump, we decided to buy some glue and take a chance on repairing it. With some Gorilla Glue and Martha Stewart specialty paint, we have a beautiful new pot ready to use to spruce up our curb appeal! Follow us on other social medias! Starting a summer garden for a family of 8!
Переглядів 815 років тому
Our favorite time of the year is getting our garden in! We are growing food in several different areas of the farm. The video is the build of our raised garden beds, which were planned months in advance when we started our plants from seed. We purchased the wood from Home Depot and used our Milwaukee tools to assemble the boxes. We purchased the “champion” soil from Axner in Redding California....

What is yhe name of this glue
While I'm thinking about it I should say that what didn't work for me is hot glue. It would only work if it enclosed things it doesn't work to glue this kind of stuff together at least for me.
I have done this many times. I am very clumsy and I drop pots :-) I also fixed a chiminea in a similar way, but not with superglue. I used JB weld and wired it together as well. That's in another video.
Should have used the non foaming kind...
These mowers are so awesome. I love using mine. It goes everywhere my lawnmower never could.
Purchased this walk behind trimmer at a reputable big box store. After putting in fresh, treated 91 non-eth gas..and checking for right amount of oil, would not start. Would NOT start. Had several bird strikes on it so figured it sat outside somewhere for a good portion of it’s life…ascertained it is 2021 model. Tore down and removed carb. The main jet was plugged. (from old gas when started at factory ????). After small eye dropper prime, started right up, but, didn’t run very long. After repeating this 6 times finally continued to run.
I lost two blueberry bushes to deer. They were relentless in their determination to eliminate my blueberries. First one was eaten down to the roots and the second one was pulled up out of the pot and eaten down to the roots as well. There was no saving either of them. I hope you don't have deer in your neighborhood. If so, put them up high, like a 2nd or 3rd story balcony. Darn deer!! Your pot looks great!
Thank you for this post. I’m about to save my beautiful clay pot.
BLAH, WASTE OF TIME@
PeAcE and thanks, i was here yesterday recording
So how is the blueberry bush and pot repair?
we used a similar method , great to see :-)
Who doesn't love some great apple sauce.
I just realized there were more Cottonwood Farms!!!! I’m cottonwood Farm Vlogs… 🤣
Are you not supposed to apply water to one of the cracked surfaces first to bond ?
Nice! I would have put something nicer in the pot after all that work lol.
Good thing you checked the oil level
Fantastic solution! Thank you for sharing. Can you please let us know what is the name of the belt you have used? 🙏🏻🙏🏻
It was just a regular old ratchet strap from your local hardware store!
@@cottonwoodfarmlife2654 thank you very much for your reply . very helpful.
I now live in Italy and in Tuscany I saw that the broken pots where repaired has if they where sewn with copper. In fact they are sewn. I just repaired one this morning , I did drill holes and then took my copper wire and sewn the pot back. With time the vertdegris appears and it is beautiful.
I'm surprise he don't get hurt
Why did the glue got white because it was clear when applied
To show that it was dry
Reminds me of Kintsugi, which is the respected Japanese art of repairing things and giving them further life. Love to see things being repaired where possible. Respect. 🌲🌝☘️
I actually combine the two adding gold colored tint to whatever I'm gluing the pieces together with. An easier way to do this is to glue together like you did and then use a small, hot glue, gun and gold colored hot glue to make it look like it was fixed in kintsugi style.
I have a vacation home in WV and I have several wet areas that I have to mow. I can’t use the rider because it will just sink and get stuck. So I have to use a push mower in those areas instead. However, the grass/weeds are usually wet so a push mower always gets clogged and I spend more time cleaning it out than actually mowing. I just wanted to ask if you thought this machine would work well in a wet area.
We can use fevicol?
I am not familiar with that glue however in a google search it says it works with any porous material so it should work! Thanks for the comment
Wholesome content
como comprar
I’d have left the inside to keep the water out of the crack. I like the suggestion of the Martha Stuart paint ❤️
Interesting that you're not happy with the Cub Cadet. I just got it yesterday to clear an overgrown 2+ acres that we just purchased. I used it for about 4 hours yesterday and another 3 hours today and I've cleared almost the entire property except for the heaviest brush toward the back of the property. It did pretty good for me. Hard work.. but it had no issues taking down 4' grass and weeds.. and some minor brush with vines. I did upgrade to better quality string.. and that helped for sure.
Does the paint exist in Black???? What is the name of the product *paint* and where to source it in Australia?

The Cub ST-100 was a good trimmer until my Spindle (the item at the front the sting mounts to) sealed bearings froze up on the shaft after 14 months of light use. Cub refused to warrant the part saying it was a "wear-item", even though the trimmer has a 3-year warranty and a 2-pull start guarantee. When I asked the dealer mechanic how much I was quoted $283 dollar for parts/labor to replace the spindle/bearing unit. The trimmer only cost $319 to begin with. Needless to say, always ask what is warranted and what is not before buying. I got burned so I hope you don't.
Awesome!!!!I bought gorilla glue for ceramics. Hope it works as easily for me.
pull rope loop on right handle bar... height adjust on trimmer head..👀 instructions...
How does this do on hills and slopes? Btw, I wouldn't use a weed trimmer wearing shorts. But that's just me.
These trimmers have big wheels and are fairly light. The trimmer can be easily tilted back. So they are much easier to handle on hills than traditional four wheeled push mowers. If a self propelled trimmer is needed you need to look at an Italian Grillo or BCS trimmer. These machines are much more expensive.
transform any walk-behind trimmers into a three-wheeler in less than 10 minutes with two 7/16" wrenches. No drilling, cutting, or welding is required. You're going to love your trimmer like never before. Thanks to the AWAP walkbehindtrimmer.info awesometools.us
$149 for an aluminum plate and castor wheel...
@@TheWaterman1000 That is right - go to your local store and buy an aluminum plate this site and see how much it cost you, then go find a 5" caster swivel wheel and see how much it cost you, don't forget a set of bolts, nuts, washers. now try to fabricate it like our as we use our CNC to cut it, it takes us almost 2 hours to cut the plate - $28.00 to ship it bu USPS. The people who bought it, they are loving it and they are so happy and they thanks us for making the plate.
HOW MUCH? HUSKAVARNA WAS 379.00 FOR THERE TRIMMER.
It was $349 at Home Depot but they recently lowered the price to $299. Thanks for watching. We are currently doing more product reviews and will be posting soon. Subscribe to make sure you don’t miss out.
That's some good ideas Lyndi
From Mark. There is a “Curly Cue” on the right side of the handlebar specifically for the pull rope that saves from having to pull the rope from the top of the engine. As for me, I’m going into my second mowing season with my ST100. TSC has the .155 Shakespeare Ballistic Cord Spool in which I usually cut in 18,7/8 inch sections according to what the measurement of the orange CC strings were that was provided with your trimmer. A Word Of Advice; It’s not a bad idea to wear safety glasses because of all the flying debris that this machine throws out. The only thing that I would like to see is a self propelled version of the ST100 for folks like me that have leg problems. Best of luck with your mower and My Very Best Regards From Ky.
Man, that's what happens when you don't read the directions !
@@markcollins5026 There are other videos of the ST-100 wheeled string trimmers that people do not secure the pull rope within the “Eyelet or Curly Cue” as I originally referred to it.
We have so many apples, I need to make a batch of applesauce this weekend. Thanks for sharing your process!
