I was a 6-8 month old when this was recorded
I am so heartbroken to find out the 880news is gone!!!! After moving away from NYC for 2 mths i was looking forward to listening to these guys again in the car. I grew up listening to Wayne, Paul , Craig and the rest of the crew. I wish them the best of luck with the rest of their career!!! Thank you to all at the former 880!!!
Working at BJ-105 was the most fun gig I've ever had. I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I could. John Summers
Was there in the late 80s...BJ105 was a wonderful dance/pop/freestyle station! Loved it! have some cassettes off the radio still in my collection! Good times for sure! Missing them quite a bit lately! Thank you for the flashback and memories! 😎👍
I Remember KCPX Power 99 Which Is Now KBEE B98.7 In Salt Lake City From 1988-1990 Had Mix Music I Used To Recording This Via Cassette Tape

33:32 nick Carter everybody everywhere
I have the cassette of Volme 2 of the Best of the 94Z WZZU Morning Zoo. Is this Vol 1, Vol 2 or a third compilation? I'll have to find the cassette and compare.
A piece of my childhood and young adulthood just died. Sad day for NY, AM radio and the all news radio format in America.😢
There are other stations that dropped their news format for the last time. KFWB 980 LA ended leaving KNX 1070 has the monopoly. I think the final minutes are still on youtube
I will miss all but Craig Allen the most, the best meteorologist and voice on radio and TV
Am I missing something, or was the classic Steve Carmen "News Is" jingle cut out of this audio for (of all things) a couple minutes of commercials?? At the 29:30 mark.
Unfortunately no, you aren't. It was recorded off of the stream, not OTA, because 880 wasn't coming in super clear. And online, nobody stopped the automation for the break that would have taken place at that time.
WPLG was a great station...they went Christian on me....😊
The song at the beginning...Jimmy Harnin and Cynch...where are you now ..one of my favorite songs of all time!
What a nice touch, everyone in studio giving the ID WCBS (AM) New York id with some adding WCBS-FM HD2 lol. Farewell Newsradio 880 '67-'24
This Is So Cool!
I wonder will audacy end other heritage audacy news and news talkers in other cities? Coukd kyw in Philadelphia be next ?
Omg I will miss Wayne and Paul, Tom Kaminsky and Craig Allen, so much. They have been with me throughout my commute for the last half decade… 😢
These guys are legends - I will really miss them.
I can't remember where it picks up, but on AM Radio, after the dead air, the automated WHSQ call letters were said for the first time, and then ESPN abruptly patches in.
12 years old. Times were so much simpler.
Heartbreaking. 😊
Glad to find this here. I was listening last night and fell asleep before it ended. Sorry, Wayne!
I also fell asleep before it ended. I was so sad.
That dead air at the end…so sad 😪
Thank you for archiving this!
A legendary news station. WCBS NEWS RADIO 880 1967-2024
Will miss this all news station that was the heart and soul of the New York City area. It is definitely the end of an era. This station will be difficult if impossible to replace.
Thank you for sharing this! :D
2:00 they abrupt Ad Break the streaming WCBS 880 thru Audacy App during final moments
Seriously! They screwed us all by their cold blooded decision to put our 880 to rest......then twisted the knife for good measure with an ad break. Thank you WCBS880 for being a part, a very vital and lasting part of my life.

Any chance you can put the times for the video?
Thanks for sharing this! 🙏
SO sad to see it go. We streamed these hours from here in Jacksonville, FL. My wife and I are natives of NJ, lived in Rockland County until October, 2023. This station will be missed. It was my work alarm clock every morning and even in retirement. Listener since 1982. Good luck to all at WCBS 880. Best regards, Dave and Vicky Tremper
Any updates on the future of kyw am and Wpht am in Philadelphia that you can share with me? Everyone is asking about it.

I am so sorry to see WCBS 880 shut down. I've listened to Wayne and Paul in the mornings for so long its like you're members of my own family. I thank everyone there for all the years of great news, traffic and of course Craig Allen's weather. You will be sorely missed.
Very sad. Bad business decision. You will ALL be missed.
Ditto. Miss you on CNBC.
Thanks for posting!
Thank you thank you thank you for this and thank you to everyone at WCBS 880. The decision to seize operations at this station is an absolute travesty. There is so much talk about AM radio being a dead format but anyone with an internet connection can stream the station from virtually anywhere and many of us have for many many years. What a shame.
I wonder will other audacy news and news talk stations go away?
I don't think so. Not any time soon (is my guess). They owned two in the same city. Unfortunately, they said it wasn't sustainable. I don't have any knowledge about what they will do, but for now I have not heard of anything.
What studio was this countdown recorded at
Wow.
