Elf-Centered: Therapeutic Retail
Переглядів 6010 років тому
Note: this video contains my OWN opinions about retail from the viewpoint of one who has and does work therein. Nothing in here is the attitude, opinion or thoughts of any of my employers past, present or future. Actually... they'd likely be rather shocked and annoyed that I thought this way...
Elf-Centered: Romance and Smoke
Переглядів 6910 років тому
Some meanderings about romance and romantics... with the focus on the romantic sorts of people, as requested by a friend. Maybe I'll do a video on actual romance sometime...
Elf-Centered: Being TechnoSocial

Some meandered thinking tossed out via my vocal chords about social media, technology and all that sort of thingee. Includes a ONE DAY CHALLENGE!! Dare you to take it?
Elf-Centered: Tears of An Elf

Some meandering monkey-mumblings about emotions, particularly crying. But before you watch, first... go take a listen to and enjoy (I hope) this: ua-cam.com/video/xwsYvBYZcx4/v-deo.html It'll become clear during my own mutterings.
Elf-Centered: The Theory of Revolution Tour Pt. 7

Elf-Centered: Three Useless Emotions

My own thoughts on three emotions that seem to be very prevalent, very important to people and yet... which I find pretty much worthless.

Chapter 6 of the Tour Diaries. Dunno if this is a exciting as the tour itself was but I hope you get an idea of what deliciousness the adventure offered. And yup, two thirds done and down!

Halfway and steaming ahead. Yes, I know I called the tour by the wrong name. Einstein was momentarily in my skull... his 'do tickled as he tried to shove his big brain into my tiny thought-cavity and I got distracted.
Elf-Centered: Moar Nightclub Ramblings

A longish one as I wander my thoughts into the four important peoples of the Nightclub world: the owner/manager, the promoter, the DJ/talent and the attendees/audience.

Elf-Centered: The Theory of Revolution Tour Pt. 2

Continuing the quick recounting of the trials and tribulations, the fun and the frolic of the Theory of Revolution Tour. Yes... this will be nine chapters which, when you add the time together, adds up to a feature length blah-blah-ing. Ah, I wish I had the footage we shot while on tour...
Elf-Centered: The Theory of Revolution Tour Pt. 1

    Your argument is SP music is whatever a DJ picks and the dance floor agrees with, and I agree with that, but it doesn't put a very fine point on your distinction. Saying "there's no such thing as SP music" or "SP music is whatever you want" is essentially the same, and I'm ok with that too. I prefer to say there is some music more appropriate to SP, and some bands that embrace SP. Mixing genres can make great new sounds, and I love DIY in my SP including music, but we can't draw a distinction there. I thing Electroswing is too new and fits Dieselpunk better, but I wouldn't dismiss it from a good SP lineup.

    I get this sort of thing all the time, because I tend to date younger women. Or rather, they tend to date me; I'm usually not the initiator. Used to be, in this country, older men with younger women was the norm. These days, it's considered creepy, and there's even sometimes an undertone of suspected paedophilia if you are seen in the company of a younger woman. (If he likes women younger than him... how *much* younger...?) And don't even get me started on the so-called "dating equation rule". Yet the converse, the Cougar syndrome, is now socially accepted as normal, whereas in years past, *that* was considered bizarre. The world today is simply upside-down.

    • @wyldelf
      @wyldelf 8 років тому

      +John Wilson I hear you there, good sir. I also tend to date younger women and like you I'm never the initiator. I'm often the one saying "Do you KNOW how old I am?" And 'tis often the young lady who is asked how I coerced her or if she is with me of her own free will. And add in the assumption that I'm doing this as some manner of chasing my own fleeing youth. And yes... the whole Cougar thing... on tv, in media and advertising... is wonderfully celebrated. But why don't they get tagged with a 'mid-life crisis' label as do we men?

    There is a sign on the wall at the shop I work at that most people don't really understand: A proper apology has three parts "I'm sorry for what I did, I acknowledge what I did was wrong, what can I do to make this right?" On a different note- one of my favorite authors Jim Butcher has a passage in his Dresden files series where the main character is conversing with a demon and comments on anger being constructive, when mocked for it he points out that anger is a tool that you can use or be used by. Constructive anger is passion- it's what drives people and cultures to change themselves and the world around them. It's how one man can drive a people to fight for the right to be treated as equal to everyone else, and what allows the oppressed to rise up and tear down corrupt governments.

    never worked a call center but i've had sevral retail and food service jobs... leaving clothing in food sections is just down right stupid... ive seen a bra on a shelf between food and kids toys.... but the worst is food. they may not leave stuff hanging around or have the luxury of being on the phone. no they just get to bitch about how your not making there food and all that. I really don't know or care if this is fat free low carb diet gluten free beans. If i made orders the way they were ordered... I use to work at Subway and people have asked for a footlong 6inch on chicken with tomatos... im sorry a your lenght is contradictory b no such thing as chicken bread c i put cheese on before the vegies and d if its busy, I really don't give a crap what veggies you want i have 7 other ppl waiting to tell me what kind of bread they want on there meat. also, how blind are people? If I'm wearing all black with a nice black vest withthe big yellow Hudson's bay companie "B" on it, WHAT ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH MAKE YOU THINK I WORK AT DOLLORAMA!? have you not noticed they are wearing GREEN AND YELLOW? NOT BLACK!? Seriusly tho... NotAlwaysRight.com... great place to laugh

    You have to know the rules before you can bend or break them. Respect should be universal, regardless of personal gain, and you cannot care for or respect anyone if you do not care about or respect yourself. In short: I agree, and think this entire vlog was well said all around. The one thing I would comment on though, is that the concept of being a 'gentleman' is not limited to men; anyone can be a respectful, self-aware, and understanding person, regardless of gender. We may need a gender neutral term for 'gentleman.' :)

    • @wyldelf
      @wyldelf 10 років тому

      I had always thought that the term for a female with similar qualities was 'lady', and have used it as such. While there are differences based on both the societal desires of each gender [as they change and evolve] and how each gender presents themselves, at the core the qualities are identical. So ponder it as the exact same well laid foundation... just different buildings constructed above.

    I'm more akin to the Diesel. I like the analogy of it being a cross of Great Gatsby and Sky Captain(leaning to Sky Captain). At first I wondered why you didn't mention the Rocketeer. but when you talked about Deco(wich I knew of but not about) and how it leans to the Gatsby side. I liked it. It got me slightly interested in Decopunk. On the subject of Atompunk. To be honest I never realy knew it was a thing till now and its kinda a neet idea. but I think the lure of it is not the fear of a nuclear holocaust but the glamore of spies and the USSR(If it aint Nazies its Commies) Also getting old USSR memorabilia is very easy compared to old Nazi stuff. So costuming the "bad guy" is possible. and hell who doesn't love a good spy story. makes me think of "Archer" And it's unfortunate you didn't get to say it in the video but glad it was in your comment. Nerfpunk. First time I saw that I thought it was gust briliant. Don't know how, don't want to or can't aford to repaint your Nerf gun? Just make the material match. Brilliant! I hope you make more elective videos. Personally i'd like more on Diesel, Deco, Atom, and Nerf.

    Even when treated well Chickens can be mean, and so can geese. Growing up my family had a couple ducks, at one point we had more than a dozen chickens, and two geese. the Geese would torment the other animals (the finally ended up on the table for thanksgiving after we got tired of them biting us; best cooked goose I ever tasted.) I've also worked around cattle, I've done some fairly nasty things to make sure the were healthy. I've done preg testing on cattle (yes I pulled on that shoulder length glove and put my hand in). If anything the amount of time I've spent herding cattle, giving them shots and spraying them with fly repellent makes me more inclined to eat them.

    As a high school freshman I had a wonderful psychology teacher who Taught there were several levels to human intelligence; at the base of everything is knowledge= the ability to memorize and recite information, the next step up is comprehension= the ability to memorize information and understand its significance, above that was inference the capacity to take multiple bits of information and determine more information based on them, the final step was execution= the capacity to know something, understand it, determine more information based on it and then act on the combined facts. Most people he admitted never develop their intelligence beyond that second stage. Personally I love to learn, I believe people have two key responsibilities in life= to learn as much as possible and to pass that knowledge and those skills onto others. My fields of knowledge stretch anywhere from computer repair and construction, to psychology, general construction, farming, history, mathematics, mythology, cultures, modern and classical warfare and tactics, among several other fields. Because I've never felt a need to focus my attention on any one field I feel it's given me more tools to live with I can fix my own car, if a pipe in my home breaks I can fix it, I can even survive on minimal resources in the wild if pressed. I still want to learn more and whenever I can I enjoy passing the things I've learned onto others.
