    she overhears his conversation on the phone where he's lying to his mom about being in a hotel and bringing his wife over to dinner and feels bad for him. probably would of helped him out if he had just asked, but instead he kidnaps her, but i think immediately she knows she's just going over to his parents house.. now in a realistic movie she probably would of just drove away the second he left the car, but this is not supposed to be realistic. plus then he apologizes to her and she forgives him. she doesnt say it, but she smiles when he says sorry. it doesn't make any sense to call billy an incel because that means involuntarily celibate. he was never trying to hook up with layla. he just needed help with convincing his parents that he was happy and married the final time he goes to see them in his life before he kills himself. layla can sense that he is probably about to do something like that and thats honestly probably the real reason she sticks around. i dont think she actually falls in love with him until the very end when he's telling her about wendy balsom.. until that point i think she's just more concerned about him. the look in her face when he says "i'll see you around" and she says "...where are you going?" you can tell she knows something is very wrong. and her concern when he's sneaking out to go kill scott wood, she is absolutely concerned that he's never coming back. its a very subtle character, but there is a lot more to her character than just there to be yelled at. i appreciate that this movie didnt have to spell everything out for the audience.

    she had every chance to escape dude.. he leaves the car to piss, he leaves the dinner table to call goon, he runs into walgreens while she waits in the car, he leaves her alone at the bowling alley, he says goodbye to her after the bowling alley and she follows him, he leaves her at dennys and shes still there when he comes back, and he leaves the hotel room and shes still there when he gets back.

    I know this film has a very large young female audience, partially due to the aesthetic and women feeling they related to Layla, not in what she'd actually gone through in the movie but feeling her personality, and that she was so willing to go with him, along with her actress being 17 and girls who'd been groomed relating to a lesser extent. I've seen girls say I can fix him in reguards to Vincent Gallo himself.

    I mean, you do you, but all I'll say is it's well worth playing it. Obviously there are many things that could be vastly improved, but the story alone is really great. And as someone who feared I'd not enjoy the fusing and vehicle building, because I'm not particularly creative, you can really avoid doing it more than you really need to. I'm probably around 130 hours into the game, almost done completing the majority of the content minus the tedious collectibles And it's tied with botw as far as Zelda games go.

    It's not a horrible movie. The main character is horrible a lot of the time, but that doesn't make it a horrible movie. It's not pushing the kind of message that you think it is. It's got beautiful moments in it, it's darkly funny, it's nicely directed. You're thinking in cliches a little bit at times - you say he keeps gaslighting her, when? When does he ever gaslight her? He coerces her, but he doesn't gaslight her. Gaslighting is an overused and often misused word. Too often people on the internet don't think for themselves enough and just follow current feminist/woke/liberal groupthink. They use tired phrases like "there's a lot to unpack here". Well, have you fully unpacked this film? I'm not sure you have.

      All i know is that any woman in that situation would feel terrified and traumatized, and the fact that she falls in love with him - WITHOUT GETTING HER PERSPECTIVE, no context as to why she doesn't immediately run away - clearly says the wrong message. Being written and directed by the main actor makes it all the more obvious a power fantasy. Being abused and bullied, i know what it feels like to be in that kind of terror. Life experience isn't a "cliche". The literal definition of every word he says to her IS gaslighting. To not recognize that, one must examine their own behaviour... You enjoy watching a guy constantly assault, insult and abuse a girl, without the guy getting any comeuppance - i can't support that. I'm not using any language but my own. Sure shows the privilige in others who have never experienced abuse in their lives, and can make comments like yours, ignoring the horror because of boobies. There is absolutely nothing deeper here, "Abusive assholes exist, so tolerate their abuse, cuz they're damaged." If that speaks to you... that says it all....I don't need to be reminded. Do you have any arguments behind your own checklist of arbitrary "nu-uhhh's", and tired, right-wing buzzwords?

    • @gmann6269
      @gmann6269 2 роки тому

      @@limegreensquid Of course in real life a woman would be terrified and would have driven away when he gets out of the car to pee, but it's a film. It's not meant to be realistic, it plays with its scenario. Do you hate the film Heathers because it shows teens murdering other teens and making it look like suicide? Do you think it's saying it's OK to kill bullies?

    For some reason your video showed up in my recommended section. It's an interesting take, but I 100% disagree. As a long time Metroid fan I thought Metroid Dread was an amazing experience. You see, I'm one of those folks with a "masochism kink". But I'm not gonna say "git gud" or that your opinion is wrong, nah. But there are a couple points I want to address. You say the aiming is awkward and slow, and I literally have no idea what you're talking about. I had 0 problems with the aiming and it was everything but slow and awkward. You also say that the bosses are cheap, which is not true. I beat Dread twice, on normal and hard and beat Raven Beak without taking a hit. I'm not a hardcore gamer mind you, so this is not me boasting about how great I am. What I'm trying to say is, that every boss has a clear pattern that can be dodged. It's only up to you, as a player, to figure out those patterns. But yeah, I'm not gonna say that your feelings on the game are wrong. If you didn't enjoy it due to its difficulty then that's fine.

    • @limegreensquid
      @limegreensquid 3 роки тому

      The omega canon was the terrible forced aiming. Why take us completely out of Metroid gameplay just to shoot the irritating emmis? It made a truly shitty experience even worse. The regular gameplay was perfect. It's all the cheap bosses that i don't play Metroid for. I haven't felt this frustrated in a Metroid game since the Omega Pirate on hard mode in Prime.

    • @limegreensquid
      @limegreensquid 3 роки тому

      And again it's not that it's difficulty, it's the forcing me to do non-Metroid things to beat the bosses, (the omega pirate, plus the lightening speed you need to react to every damn boss) when the bosses used to be some of the funnest experiences. Now they're just irritating. Not Metroid.

    • @limegreensquid
      @limegreensquid 3 роки тому

      Having to figure out lightning speed patterns from repeat playthroughs is not fun to me. I don't play video games to stress myself out like that. If a game is stressing me out it fails as a game.

    Governments are generally based on violent coercion, fraud, terrorism and slavery. All governments are inherently evil. The greatest achievement of slave masters is not convincing the slaves that they are not slaves, it is convincing them that their enslavement is for their own good. No war was fought for your freedom, any and all war fought in the past many hundreds of years were by design, orchestrated by the very people, who are your slave masters. Government has never been for the good of the people, it has always been a tool of the slave masters to enslave the people, every time people rise up the the slave masters trick them with a new style of enslavement, the last time they tricked the common people into believing that mob rule was a good thing simply by changing the name to democracy, well knowing that the mob of people would only ever have the choice to pick between their henchmen, these henchmen serve both as a safety net for the slave masters as most people will never know who their real slave masters are and as a tool to divide and conquer, having people fight each other over the henchmen, in the vain believe that it matters. People are trying so hard to hold onto the crumbs of a system that has failed them and was never there for their benefit to begin with, that they lose perspective of what could be if they worked together and did what is needed to bring it down and if they don't bring it down the very people that build that system will use those crumbs to build an even more oppressive system and the people who were fighting to hold on to crumbs for all the good intentions they had, will only have helped forge even stronger chains for their owners to bind them with. These people holding onto the crumbs are like greedy slaves who happened to get a hold of a big amount of potatoes when the slave owners tossed out the rations, and as the slaves where rebelling to gain their freedom, the greedy slave rather than sharing them kept them for themselves well knowing it would cause other slaves to starve to death. The main stream media is a tool the slave masters used to brainwash the slaves. Royalists and statists in general are tools for tyranny, useful idiots or cowards who fear freedom. People should be free to do as they please, as long as they don't aggress on others, steal or deal in fraud and otherwise act within reason. If you fear freedom so much that you want to oppress others or feel righteous in assigning others to oppress on what you perceive as being on your behalf, you have allowed your cowardice to make you a tool for evil. If you seek the oppression of others to gain from their oppression you are simply evil. All Governing is violent coercion, it is time for people to give up the foolish idea of being governed. Since all governing is inherently based on violent coercion, any form of resistance to it is self-defense, unless this resistance occurs only in an attempt to replace it with yet another form of governing.

      Government is one of those things humans will always need, because clearly you can't leave us alone unchecked for long without the built-in downward spiral of capitalism, or breaking into gang-warfare and chaos that isn't helpful to ANY life. We need rules against hurting each other, and consequences to breaking them. The whole "anarchy" thing is a teenaged dream for those who don't think 5 seconds ahead of their face...
