Gear Review: ICECO JP40 Fridge
This is the ICECO JP40 Fridge review. It’s been a great fridge. Sometimes I wish I’d gotten a bigger fridge but I can usually pack in everything I need.

Mod Review: RCI Metalworks Bedrack Bike Mount
Do you know what length those m8 eyebolts are? Also what size is that net?
What kind of cab over racks are you using and are they working for ya?
I from here - and I sure hope and pray - the people back out what they back in
Definitely!
Great rig- how close to your OCCC are you with all that gear? I’m struggling to get everything in at want and stay within my 1491lbs of cargo carrying capacity on my F150
Dude. I’m really not sure what all this weighs but I’m sure it exceeds the OCCC, especially packed with my entire family and all their camping gear. No problems so far! 🤞
how much load can one swing arm handle?
The 33” MT tire and two bikes I often carry seem to be no problem.
Like the tailgate trick too, thank you Sir
You bet!
How is this holding up? Does it solar heat at all?
It’s holding up really well. I just used it on a multi-day trip and it’s still holding pressure as well as when I bought it. The water does get warm in the summer. I just make sure to drain it out during the winter.
What size is the crossbar?
Hey man. They’re 47” long. I hope this helps!
Thanks man, helped me put away the one on a company van!
Awesome! I’ve since learned to roll it super tight from the bottom. That makes it easier to zip up.
That is exactly what I need TY
Awesome. Thanks for checking out the video.
Where did you get the rack, you have installed on top of the RCI bed rack?
That’s a Yakima Load Warrior with an extension. It attached easily with the supplied Yakima equipment.
How many watts are you getting in full sun?
I’ll check out the trends on the app once I’m done at work today.
Ok. It looks like I average around 40wh but have seen it go as high as 100wh.
Ok.. thank you for the response
The link you provided says for a ranger. Can you confirm the libknis correct for short bed tacoma?
Thanks for letting me know the links have changed. Here’s the updated one: prinsu.com/product/universal-top-rack-4-5-x-47/
Great video. Thank you. I noticed you don’t use a ground sheet under your T4. Might you have had fewer holes in the floor if you had used one… ? 🤔 I think the T4 Plus’s ease of set-up and take-down, spacious interior, and reasonable price make it an attractive alternative to rooftop tents, for budget-minded overlanders. Cheers! 🍻
Yes! I definitely agree that a ground sheet would have helped but I never use them. I’ve just been patching the holes. It’s still waterproof and works great.
Long shot, as this video was posted 2y ago, but here goes. How did you attach the timber to the bin? You never actually mentioned it. Thanks! I’m purchasing the bin shortly and want to do something similar to you with the shelving. Cheers.
Hey man. I did attach it. I put two screws in through the bottom connecting to the two main vertical columns. Other than that everything sits inside the bin. I hope this helps!
Can you open your camper topper with the adventure carrier locked to the bumper?
Nope. You have to swing the carrier out of the way to open the back of the SmartCap.
Nice video, did it really work to keep those latch from freezing. Got my cap just a mopnth ago and locks are freezing any minutes here in Montreal , Canada
Hey man! Yep they’ve worked so far. The latches haven’t frozen yet. We’ve had several freezes so far this year too.
Why did you have to spend $100+ for a batter tray when you didn't really need it. You could have just replaced the J hooks and drilled some aluminum bar stock for the top hold down on the batter. That's what I did and I may have spent a total of $20.00. you really don't need to buy a basket for the battery to fit in. But hay I get it.
Good idea man! You should make a video for others to find.
Have you done any towing with this? How was it
Hey man. I haven’t towed anything with it. I know the backup camera wouldn’t work if I did though, since it’s attached to the license plate.
Hello! Did you purchase the Bike mount hitch-delta skewer hitch and the bed rack bike mount?
Yes. I purchased them together from RCI.
Any leaks?
I haven’t had any but there are some posts on my other videos by people who experienced a leak.
I just added the RSI Smart cap to my F150 and it leaks super bad. Its leaking on the seals for the from and rear panels. It's torqued correct and the seals are installed correct. Its very disappointing!
Damn dude. What’s does RSI say? I’m on year 2 without leaking but it sounds like we installed it the same way. Maybe RSI needs to send you new seals? Sorry man.
@@highcountryoverland With further investigation, it looks like it’s not the seals on the cap that are leaking on the front and rear . There’s some sealant putty in the corners where the rail is it’s coming through there and then running down the rail on the inside it constantly drips and my whole bed is soaked. I’m in Phoenix and it’s been raining nonstop for two days. Looking at it, it looks like the factory didn’t get that putty in the proper locations. I’m gonna go to the auto parts store more and seal it. It’s been a bad experience. I ordered the adventure model cap because I want the MOLLE panels. They accidentally sent me the sport model which has known problems with the windows leaking. The part number on the box was the correct part number, but what was in the box was not the right part. It looks like RSI is fixing this. I’m thinking I’ll get you doors after Christmas. This whole thing is not been very satisfying so many problems.
@@highcountryoverland I’m glad to know yours doesn’t leak that gives me hope that I can fix mine. Yesterday I was about ready to take it off and threw it on craigslist for sale.
I hope that fix works. Let me know how it turns out. The molle panels are the way to go.
@@highcountryoverland I thought maybe the leaking was coming from the corners I did some testing where I put water just in the middle and it was still leaking. It’s like a sprinkler head inside of my smart cap. I’ve completely loosened everything up, re-torqued everything it’s exactly per the manual and it leaks like crazy. It’s so disappointing. I have photos and an email off to RSI. Hopefully they’ll make this right. I have found some other UA-cam videos where people are complaining about this, so it’s not an isolated incident. I might do a UA-cam video on this and show my experiences. But I want to let RSI have the chance to make this right first.
How long did it take you to assemble and then install it?
Hello. I had 2 friends helping me. It took us probably about 3 hours. It wasn’t bad.
I just got mine..did it work? I just hate the extra work to open the canopy. Lol
Yeah they work. I agree, I preferred the ease of opening the doors without the latch covers, but it sucked the one time they froze on me.
It's nice but not $600 nice you can't get hot water through it. I saw another water pump you boil the water you get a hot shower😂. How does it do in cold weather what is the freezing point? 12-09-23
I usually drain the water out for the winter so it doesn’t freeze and bust the seams. Which one did you find for hot water?
Does the tire wobble at all?
No. It’s rock solid. It only wobbled one time when I forgot to latch it!
Have you found any cons after having used it for a while now?
Not really. I have to be careful if I open it in a tight parking lot so it doesn’t swing into a neighboring car. It’s been useful to attach things to.
What's the length between each rail on the roof rack.? Thanks.
I just saw this. I’ll figure out the length for you this weekend.
@@highcountryoverland thank you very much.
It’s 44.5” from the front of the first crossbar to the back of the rear crossbar.
@@highcountryoverland thank you very much. You are the man🥰
So how did it work out in the winter?
Better. They still got some water in them but it was a lot less. They never froze though.
Yes, you need help look down, other people below telling you how to put away.😊
Yes. I’ve gotten much better at it since this video.
Can you tell me where you ordered the molle panels for the doors that are the sides when you swing open the doors and how they were installed?
You’re talking about the molle panels on the side doors of the SmartCap right? They came pre-installed. I believe they’re only available on the EvoA.
@@highcountryoverland I thought so. Pretty disappointed they don't offer them on the evoc. Being commercial I'd expect something like that.
@@highcountryoverland I'm getting it installed tomorrow and wanted that option
I ride dirt bikes there with my family l have been building up a tacoma do you need to were helmets in the truck
Hey man. I don’t know anyone who wears a helmet in their truck. The trails you can take a Tacoma on aren’t that technical.
thanks for video, helpful!
You're welcome!
did you use any loctite on the m8 bolts in the top of the rsi?
Yes, for the rack assembly, but not the M8 bolts. I followed the instructions for the Prinsu rack. Their previous products used a lock washer but they have since switched to loctite. I had lock washers for the M8 bolts.
Did you use to live in High point for a short time??
Hey man! Nope. I’ve traveled there before but grew up in Johnson City TN.
any leaks?
Not really. The only leak is a small one where the tailgate meets the truck bed. This has nothing to do with the cap though.
Awesome, thank you@@highcountryoverland
If I put it on a full size van can I lower tent a little ?
Oh one question how does it mount on rack does the rack have to be close to edge of the van? I thinking of putting Werner rack and then basket rack on top but the basket rack itself will be inward of the rain gutters of the van roof a few inches.
Yeah. The straps that hold it up are adjustable.
It should work. The brackets they send are several inches long. Longer brackets are available from other manufacturers too.
The “load” wires can be conected to an m4 pin to charge another battery ? in this case a bluetti, what I’m looking to do is to have the same setup like yours but to add a wire that goes through the firewall and charge a portable battery
Yes. My understanding is that the load wires can be attached to whatever you want. The instructions show a small fan I believe. Let me know how your project goes. I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing.
So is there a local overland club? Morganton nc here
I wish. There was one for students on ASU campus that never did anything. You should start one!
I have a defender 110 not too much of a land rover crowd around here mostly heaps .
Hey dude I plan on going up there for the 1st time. Don't know the area but where does 105 start? Planning on camping a few days
Most people start at the Linville Falls Trailhead area. I’ve got the Gaia track posted in the description in case you use Gaia. If not this link will help: Linville Falls - Trail and Waterfall maps.app.goo.gl/cELApd49SpP3qz249?g_st=ic Have fun!
You virtually show nothing about the usage of the product.....filling, pumping, and spraying. Dissapointing.
Hey Mike. I pump it up at 1:45 then attach and use the sprayer at 2:40. You’re right I don’t fill the tank. I wanted to show how it would work out in the field.
What? Are you blind?
@@user-br4oh7zx8g, nope. Just honest.
what did you use to patch the tent?
I’ve been using Gear Aid. Gear AID Tenacious Tape Repair Patches for Jackets, Tents, Outdoor Gear and Technical Fabrics a.co/d/9XxP061
I did this trail yesterday. You left out a lot of good obstacles.
Yeah I lost a lot of footage somehow from that trip. I need to do it again and this spring and upload an updated video. Was the big puddle still there?
@@highcountryoverland yep
Love your rig and how it’s organized. It would be cool if you could share list of names of items you use
Ok. I’ll try to get a list together with more reviews.
I have t4 just love it .
Me too!
Old nc 105 in burke county
Yeah. It’s in Burke and McDowell counties.
In burke county
Yes.
Couple questions Any leakage issues? How well did the Prinsu cap/cab rack line up height wise? C.B. Antenna mount. Any clearance issues when opening and closing tailgate or cap door? Who made the mount? Everything looks good . I’ll have to check out your kitchen set up video.
Hey man. I’ve had no leakage issues with the cap, only some leakage with the tailgate of the truck. The Prinsu TopRack on the SmartCap is a couple inches higher. It’s the Victory 4x4 antenna mount. It doesn’t interfere with any of the doors opening. I hope this helps!
@@highcountryoverland thank you for the info. Very helpful
Great vid, thanks. Going there in June. Any other trails around there I should consider? Thanks.
There’s a way to connect Hurricane Creek to Max Patch. That’s a great place to hike with beautiful views.
@@highcountryoverland I took this route in my Kia Soul by accident a few years ago. it was a little rough but very fun. woopsy!
@@LeleCarswell Whoa. That’s awesome.
I’m between this, and the smaller version of it. Basically the 270 that doesn’t cover the driver/passenger side door. Rationale being I do this solo, so in the event of high winds the smaller one with less surface area should be easier to manage. The $200 difference in price for something I won’t realistically use that much is a factor as well. Does anyone have experience with each that could guide me a bit? Vehicle is an F150 with a smart topper and datin fab cage
I’ve used a smaller 180 before and it was too small to sit me and my family. Whichever one you get I’d recommend getting some coverage for the tailgate. It’s so useful in the rain. Either of your options will have this feature.
ua-cam.com/video/1105xNt9O6o/v-deo.html sorry that took me forever to get around to it but hope this helps !👍🏼
