What Polk County Conservation Naturalist demonstrate how to construct a Native American Tipi.
Delightful and very clear explanation and demonstration. Thankyou so much.
SOS Freemasons accounts Union college library names I'm facing Union college historical library Games have been rewritten and protected Rainforests in marshlands of being Take over a bank in Commercial casino Takeover By doing that you take over tribal commercial SOS all historical properties
I once had a teepee , and a igloo I had a basement in my peetee and my igloo was Allways cold, no matter what. So I made a log cabin.
I am looking for more informaton on this looking how get on this video
best guide ever!
The women owned the TiPi - what else is new ???
Nice job!
Thankyou Patti and Ginny. Straight to the point, informative, interesting and suprisingly short. Better than many men could achieve. Kudos.
Is a Tipi waterproof at the top where the poles come together?
Yes the ears help
This was great!
That was ok and thank you I guess
Thank you, that was nicely done.
Thank you. That was concise, clearly explained, and demonstrated. Exactly what I was looking for.
I thought it was spelled Tepee
Either or 🙃
It is spelled Tipi. It is pronounced tee-pee. People confused the two.
Спасибо. Лайк!)
I wonder what that tipi weighed when covered with buffalo skins, before the white man brought canvas.
Lane Dexter / the Russian Sami using Birch bark instead of Cotton. It uses a lengthy process preparing the birch bark. After a successful process the bark can be rolled and is very lightweight
Thank you for this video. Very educational
Why are they calling it a "native American tipi?" of the 700 native tribes, only about 10 of them used these. And the styles are unique to each tribe. A crow tipi is a different shape and construction than a Sioux tipi. Why do you have to make everything generic "native American" as though we all had one common culture.
... which would be why I saw places where I thought "You're doing it wrong". I'm 1/8 Lakota Sioux and 1/8 Cherokee... The rest is Irish and Germanic. The Lakota way is the only one I know much about. * shrug *
She mentioned the plains tribes.
Because it's from Tribes that were from North America. She never once stated nor implied that all Tribed used Tipis. Go back to nit picking Harry Potter.
@@johnjriggsarchery2457 that's like calling a kilt a European fashion. But ok Karen.
Just fuck off. I hate it when people act so politically correct.
Thank you for your time. I learned several things thank you
Is this the Lakota construction? I've spent time with the Salish and Northern Cheyenne and they used a 4 Pole arrangement not a tripod.
Yes! Its look like a "Sioux" construction ; )
Elizabeth Warren wasn't there? I thought she invented the tipi; long before Al Gore invented the internet
Thank you for your video. There is a fairly old and pretty well known book about teepee (tipis) written by Reginald and Gladys Laubin, considered to be a very reliable source of information for the history and construction of authentic plains Indian tipis. My wife uses a Bernina Artista. Do you think that it will sew through 10-12 ounce cotton canvas fabric?
I thought it was going to be a video about Tipi construction since that was the name of the video. It was Tipi setup :(
You need just a canvas and some piece of wood.. How it works and setup it is the secret!!!
Ummmm...this would have been much better if.. 1) it had been built by Actual People of The First Nations!! 2) If it had been Built CORRECTLY!!! (See #1)
I would like to see this explained to me by a native American. Did us whiteys kill ALL the original Americans? Shame on us.
It wouldn't be made of canvas, for one thing it would have been of buffalo hides. Only modern tipis are made of canvas. Second, it was the man's job to provide the lodge poles. Women sewed the covers, men cut and shaved the poles.
Don't listen to the native lady's they tend to be ruled by there emotions, can't get over the past.. Anyway excellent job Lady's.
Ladies, not "lady's", Their, not "there". Don't listen to David, who can't even speak his own language.
The teepee is a perfect design. It allows for a central fire to provide heat, light, and the means of cooking food. The entire structure acts as a chimney to pull the smoke up and out since heat naturally rises. That allows for a wood fire or a stove of sorts as the dangerous fumes would also be pulled upward with the heat. The constant flow of fresh air coming in from around the outer edges makes for safe and comfortable environment.
hi my name is julianne and i live in elsi

Hmmmmm it took a FEDERAL AGENT to explain this then she said OUR NATIVE AMERICANS like she owns them
Did you even watch the video? It was a county conservation board, and I think the immediate presumption that the context of the use of "our" had anything to do abject possession, says more about you.
Gee "Dale" it sounds like she rang your "bell". So tell us what you would prefer to have her say.
DALE thebelldiver Hmmmmm must agree with my pale face brother get over it already😕
Shut the fuck up. If your upset about it you should have watched native americans set it up.
kind of stereotypical. the tipi was used uniquely by the great plain natives.
Thanks lewis.
that was great I showed it to my daughter and we loved it
Good Job Ladies, but the three pole style tipi should have the three poles tied where one "Door Pole" is longer to give the finished tipi a "Tilted" look. See Here @ 3:03: ua-cam.com/video/5eoV5s-XpzY/v-deo.html
Too bad this is not on Construction of a tipi but on how to set up a tipi. Misleading title.
great video...thank you for sharing
Chi Meegwetch

dante bigguy typical angry native.. Jesus can take that angry spirit from you. Call on his name and repent,, then follow him.. Or do you rely on your anger to identify and shape your petsonality,, so if you take that away there would be nothing left...that's ok give it to Jesus and take on his personality or are you afraid. HE is the way the truth and the light Besides your but won't be hanging out for everyone to see,,,lol then lol some more. The🔑to the 🔓
