Tokyo Woes (1945)
This cartoon (along with other "Hook" cartoons) was found by accident in the garage of a former soldier who had saved them, thinking they were "Private Snafu" shorts. The cartoon was finally discovered in the mid-1990s when an A&E documentary on war cartoons began production. It turned out that Warners made these shorts for the US Navy and because they wanted to keep this a secret, all original negatives were destroyed shortly after release. The "Hook" shorts that were given to the cartoon researchers had "vinegar syndrome" and have deteriorated, but fortunately before that happened, they transferred them to video.

Yes, i know this is a propaganda film, but geeez, the racism so far over the top. We'd never protray our European enemies in such an outrageous way

If you look at WWII propaganda and see the way they depict Germans vs the way they depict Japanese, it's extremely obvious that a lot of it has to do with the fact that Germans are white people and Japanese aren't.

If Major Mio Sakamoto from Strike Witches is watching this, she would have something to say about this. Mio Sakamoto: [incredibly p*ss off] THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!! 😬 Something like that... And yeah, I'm a fan of Strike Witches, though not a big fan by the way. If you don't know what Strike Witches is, please look it up on Google. That is all. Over and out. 😃

I saw clips of FRITZ on YOU TUBE and found it pretty shocking & disgusting. Infact it makes BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD & SOUTH PARK seem tame 20 to 30 years later.

3:26-more adult humor. Though it's pretty tame compared to the adult humor you see today. It's certainly wholesome compared to the raunchy x rated full length feature cartoons of Ralph Bakshi's FRITZ THE CAT & HEAVY TRAFFIC in the 1970s.

Imprisonment of Japanese-Americans in internment camps in the American Heartland during World War II, bad and unjusitfied as it was, was positively mild compared to how American, Chinese and other Allied POWS were treatd in Nip (and that word isn't meant to be offensive) concentration camps during the war. Some people have actually called those internment camps concentration camps.
