Приєднався 18 вер 2017
Hi Folks, thank you very much for checking me out and welcome to my page which is dedicated to fly fishing and fly tying.
The channel has a strong focus on competition fly patterns, which are proven and effective, with no gimmicks!
I'll also provide some awesome hints and tips on all manner of fly fishing and, at times, a window into my world of fly fishing.
I'd love to reply to everyone's comments and I do try but if I miss you out, I'm sorry, peace and love!

The Coral Minkie Booby
Переглядів 8054 години тому
There is something about the colour coral in the winter months. It has often been a stand-out colour for me, especially for the better fish! Combine the colour with the fluidity of MINK and the disturbance caused by BOOBY eyes and it's game on!

One of my go-to flies for hunting bigger fish on our large reservoirs as we move toward winter! Mine's has LEAD!!!

Fry feeders, taking them off the top over the weedbeds with a leaded 'floating fry' pattern! It was awesome, oh yes!
The Krystal Flash Carrot

A heavy-hitter in the world of dry flies! Not all dry flies are delicate affairs, sometimes big is better, this beauty does well on most stillwaters but especially so on Rutland & Pitsford. Mix up the colours if you wish but this particular 'rutland blend' does me just fine!
The Best Stillwater Hare's Ear EVER
Переглядів 3,1 тис.21 день тому
If constructed correctly, A Hare's Ear can vastly outfish the usual bog standard versions. A little time and effort in mixing various dubbings on this one has resulted in this beauty! Look at it, you know it's worth the effort!
The Best Stillwater Lure Out There

I have a particular fly that seems to work EVERYWHERE and catches everything from recently stocked rainbows to grown-on, natural-feeding brown trout. It's a simple affair as is the way I fish it, but it's super effective! Tying the fly is simple, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/WNKhgo-KXME/v-deo.html
The Wee Back End Booby
Переглядів 2 тис.28 днів тому
I have caught countless numbers of fish on this little pattern. Forget everything else when it comes to washing line point flies at the tail end of the trout season, this is better than anything else! A simple tie, a small fly, it's a total winner
The Wet Daddy

Here's a cheeky wee number that can do great work in a decent wind at the back end of the fishing year. Team it with a normal; floaty one on the point with a sink tip or full floater!
The Cardinal Buzzer

A play on the popular Vicar, this one, all red and some bling does great in cold water, a start-of-the-season number! Saying that, it works all year round on small stillwaters!
Fly Tying The Fox's Shuttlecock
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Місяць тому
From the father and son duo, Tony & Harry Fox, a straightforward affair that they make work all over the place. There's not much to it, but trust me they swear by it and the amount of fish they catch on this fly has to be believed. What's more, they are both lovely humans!
Fly Tying The Hutch's Pennel Variant
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Місяць тому
The original fly came from Kirkwall boy, Ian Hutcheon, it's his creation and I've tied a variant that has worked for me! I was beaten in a competition on Loch Leven, sometime in the 90's, for the biggest fish of the comp trophy by get this, by an 1/8th of an ounce. this was the fly that i caught the fish on!

Pinched from a fishing magazine and created by an old mate of mine Rob Denson, I like the looks of this scamp! Reckon it'll be great wherever you fish it!

A variation on the Yellow Owl, based on and Elk Hair caddis that does great things on stillwaters large and small, add legs if you wish, it's a banker!

Fly Tying The NQMI (Not Quite Made It)
I have just started fly fishing and tying . A win would enable me to progress both these arts. Great giveaway . Thank you
Thanks Steve! How long a leader would you use from the bank with a Di 5 in shallowish water ? I'm never sure to go 3 feet or 10 feet ?
half the depth of the water and then reduce if no takes
@@stevecullenflyfishingflyty7729 Thanks Steve, I shall give it a go and report back!😀👍🐳🐳
Bewbies❤
Nice one Steve, I wish I had some minkie that colour es it looks fabulous. Cheers
Great video Steve, good to see the steady stream of content coming from you as other angling channels seem to be dying of death for one reason or another. Popper fishing is one of the best times of the season but can be very hit or miss. I was out on the banks of Rutland last weekend and although I saw fish chasing fry close in I couldn't move any. Switched to a foam daddy and bang your day changes. Shame as I love to see that bow wave chasing.
NIce one Mark, here, here!
U fish all ur flies with that loop not
No pal, just big stuff and boobiez
Off to Rutland in a couple of weeks I'll tie some up & give them a go Steve👍🏴
Work of art Steve, well thought out too. What was that book or magazine used for a backdrop in the beginning of the video? From what I could read it looked like info on fishing popper fry. Thanks Steve, great tutorial, I love baitfish patterns.
Hi Joe, the latest T&S magazine pal!
I'm sure this was up a few days ago? I've got popper hoppers in black and white but I ordered brown zonkers to tie these and I'll be using wire on them. Great fly, loved the thumbnail tip.
Keep missing fish on them, maybe the wire is the key.
the fishing one was as was the fly at the end but choose to do the fly as a separate too pal, just in case1
@@stevecullenflyfishingflyty7729 thankyou pal.
Very nice.
Awesome pattern. What thread are you using?Thank You
very nice, i think i have some of those hooks left from when i lived in america
Is that a perfection loop?
Sure is pal
Very refreshing seeing people being open about fishing defo will help
Well I tied one of these a while ago and gave it a swim on Brenig today. Some tan sedges were hatching, so put one on a washing line dropper....nice brownie on second cast.👍
Nice simple that's the way
I always use wire as ribbing these days . Anytime I use mylar wild fish rip it to shreds , not good when its a palmer rib! . I do lose some reflection/sparkle I know .
Thanks Steve ... Will be giving this a go.
Hi Steve, This is a new Shuttlecock Emerger pattern for me…. never seen it before ! Thanks for sharing, I will definitely be tying a few for my Fly Box. Regards, Wayne 😀👍
NICE fly!
Good looking fly Steve like the two tone effect and scruffy body 😊
Best hares ears ever were tied by Dave Hughes who owned Rothwell Rods, Reels and Flies. Absolutely great flies he used a rabbit mix as well. They of course only got better the more chewed they were like all great grhe‘s. I dare say these are the same improve the scruffier they get.
Very gorgeous fly. I like how you didn’t use a big clot of tail fibers. I believe I fish this style of fly better without too much tail. I am going to try to hackle my next hares ear flies like this. Thank !!!
Ive always struggled with getting line back on the reel to fight a fish, always choosing to hand line them in. Any tips on how to minimise losses when trying to get line back on the reel Steve?
@@JoshOsReef don’t use the handle palm the re to get the line faster!!
Really like your video’s tying and fishing. Got back to fly fishing and tying. I live in Norfolk now, but originally from Ireland. Theres not much options here and the weather has been really hot. Luckily it’s cooling down now. I’m interested in how you fish this still water. Iv joined a club still water 25 acres where the water is gin clear and only catching on lures. Fish are not free rising like I’m used to.
Sounds great, by the way some sea trout and trout to be had in Norfolk!!😊
What line did you use Steve..? Good video 👍
Floater pal
Great video!
Steve".from Canada…brilliant! Using it on 3 fly combo with booby on point and a fly by mark on top…yours in middle. Deadly. Thanks! Airflo sixth sense slo intermediate. 💪🏼👌🏿
Luv it Steve I’ll tie some up cheers mate
Nice one Bud.
Were you doing the ceiling or was the ceiling doing you....
Hi Steve, Great looking dry fly pattern… very fishy ! Well worth me tying a few for my Fly Box. Regards, Wayne 😀👍
Nice one. Reminds me of a gartside sparrow but shiny 😊
It does!
Yer nails need redone steve😂😂
One for the box on Lough Sheelin, fish a similar pattern, static is best with a couple of pulls before lifting off, takes can be savage. 😮
Fantatsic fly Steve, do the legs have to be completely straight? I'll attempt this.
It's a beauty, with great movement baked into the design, especially with transitional fall setting in already here in Colorado.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Steve. Great looking fly. Aside from imitating a daddy, would you consider this as representing fry? Cheers, Lee.
given the flash I reckon so pal
Lovely going to copy might throw partridge hackle front🎉
The dry daddy on the right day, nothing better, the fly of paradise now l must try the wet daddy.
Those aren't touching turns but get it anyway!
At least you showed that anyone can have a bad day
Nice one Steve. Been there with the thumbs, good to see the sense of humour and leaving the tie as it happened
That’ll teach you to take the gentle p**s out of Lindsay! 😂😂😂😂
Loved your video Steve a good pattern for sure. Some days I'm all. Thumbs to. Been watching lindsay for a few years now great patterns tks 😊
What do you do when you have only taken 2 slices out
Twist and put upside down
Glad to see the experts having errors like me. Cheers, Big Davie. I'll tell Lindsay😂😂
Thank you for sharing this pattern - much appreciated.
