      Similar, yes. The Rocket has a manual paddle that you can use for on the fly profiling and a different build quality.

    painful and ignorant video to watch draining the coffee down the drain....why don't u use the cup to see the crema and everything! just because it's fast doesn't mean it's not good, you can give it to the crew

      Agree. Lots of gimmick in espresso making. The coffees going down the drain were probably better than his perfect shot.

    You have a doser grinder. Why not take the time to set up the dose so you can just give it one or two pulls and get the same amount every time?

    • @MichaelGold64
      @MichaelGold64 7 років тому

      That means grinding more than you need - and the rest is wasted.

    Temperature stability is definitely important. You can get that in much less expensive - but not as pretty - machines. The E61 grouphead is more for aesthetics than outright performance or value. The most important thing is freshly roasted coffee! 4-10 days after roasting gives the best results. Next most important is a fine, *consistent* grind. I got the Baratza Vario after messing with a Gaggia MDF for two months (Rocky is in the same class). You won't find anything as good for twice the price. My Gaggia Baby looks like crap, has finicky temp control, is tricky to learn, but makes a good espresso together with my Vario. A great espresso machine and a cheap grinder will produce WORSE results! Heat exchanger machines, like the Giotto, look pretty, give more consistent results, can make several espressos consecutively, and have better milk frothing capability.

    Actually if you follow the dosing as Scottie describes here, you will likely end up overdosing. The best way to practice a dosing technique is to measure the coffee.
