The Barn KT9
United Kingdom

DIVERSIFY OR DIE? BEAT APR VIA FARM DIVERSIFICATION, WITHOUT THE SCARY BITS
Farm Diversification sounds pretty terrifying to a lot of farmers. 66% still do no diversification at all. No time, no money, no knowledge.
But it doesn't need to be scary. Here's how we've done it with no investment and no loss of arable output at all.
The Barn KT9 is a farm diversification project near Epsom, comprising a cafe, gym, campsite and event space.

CAN THE EUFY X10 PRO OMNI KEEP OUR COMMERCIAL GYM FLOOR CLEAN?!

Can the Eufy Omni 10 Pro keep our floor clean and replace some of the manual cleaning we need to do? These sticky gym floor tiles can be a nightmare to keep clean so it'll be a big help if it can. We run a gym, cafe, campsite and event space and will take you behind the scenes on li...
WHY WE'VE TURNED DOWN OVER A MILLION POUNDS WORTH OF EVENT BOOKINGS!

After 2 years and 12 weddings, we're not doing any more, for a little while at least. Here's what we've learned along the way as a new dry-hire wedding venue on a farm, and why we aren't going to be doing any more under this format. HOSTING A-LIST FILM SHOOTS AT THE FARM! HOW, WHY AND WHEN WE DO IT
Переглядів 3737 місяців тому
We've had a fair few shoots here in the last couple of years, not to mention all the ITV Dramas shot here in the 80s, 90s and 00s. From small fashion shoots, to big Music Video productions and TV Commercials, they're a great way to generate some diversification income on the farm. They are also a ton of fun to host and be around. Farm Locations are our main agents, go check them out at farmloca...
HOW WE RUN A CAFE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITH NO PARKING FOR MILES AROUND
Переглядів 8379 місяців тому
The nearest public car park to us is over a mile away, and barely any of our customers even use that. Walking over Ashtead & Epsom Commons, or cycling from London can take hours, but having no way to drive here does not create a barrier to business or visitors. Every modern instinct we have suggests that this shouldn't work, but it does. Call it pedestrianisation, call it an LTN or simply a car...
FITTING THREE KIDS IN THE BACK OF AN ENYAQ - MULTIMAC TO THE RESCUE!
Переглядів 2 тис.9 місяців тому
Our Enyaq was only 2 months old when we discovered we were having twins. Did we need to swap it and get another new car, or could we fit 3 kids in the Enyaq? We'd heard positive things about the MultiMac so decided to give it a go. I think the fitting works the same across all the VW/Audi Group range for these cars, so an ID4 or an Audi E-Tron are likely to have the same fixings. Here's how I i...
HOW TO BUILD A WALK-IN WARDROBE!
Переглядів 50910 місяців тому
Operation "Get the house ready for impending arrival of the twins" has gone up a few levels since Christmas. Their room's wardrobe was still full of all of our stuff, so it was time to create some more space elsewhere. Here's how I built a DIY walk-in wardrobe for under £250 to make it all possible! NB - the Coat Paints colour is called BAKED. We are a farm diversification project on a working ...

HOW TO OPEN A PROFITABLE CAMPSITE ON YOUR FARM!
Переглядів 64811 місяців тому
We opened our small campsite, licensed by the Woodland Champions Club, in 2021. In this video we explain how we did it, and how we conducted a risk free trial in 2020 using Permitted Development Rights to test the market before we committed to opening the site. We talk through how to build basic infrastructure on a budget, what level of service we provide and even where we get our linen from, n...

13 TIPS FOR PLANNING A HONEYMOON IN ARGENTINA
This is such a helpful, detailed and nuanced look at farm diversification, Charlie. Thank you for sharing your experience
Glad it was helpful!
GOOD SHIT. THANKS.
You get maximum stars from so many more people. This would not be the same place if it had a big car park. Keep doing what you do!
How to remove the rear seats ? 😅
Don't need to!
Would love to come to you with a bunch of cyclists but to be honest I'm still struggling from both this and your website to locate exactly where you are!
Google maps will do the trick, and there's a few strava routes on a blog on our website. Drop us an email if struggling.
again... i shouldnt have been watching it in it's entirety...... but i did 👏
Just booked to visit in a few weeks camping, have to say, great videos, super informative & honest and (I’m getting old clearly) interesting!!
Thanks Neil!
Hi, Great video, I hugely appreciate your honesty about the event side of things. I have a new-ish glamping site and will be looking at small weddings for next year, I'd love to chat to you. Many thanks, Claire
Thanks Claire, sorry for the delay! Drop us an email or Insta message, would love to chat.
Well done Charlie and well done for invigorating new life into your family farm. I’ve also recently taken over my family farm in the Cotswolds. We also have a glampsite and just trying to work out what else we can do to make extra income to enable hubby to also give up his corporate role. Good luck with the twins 😊
Thank you, best of luck with whatever you choose to do!
...and here is the final product! Rag n'Bone Man, What Do You Believe in ua-cam.com/video/L4C2tF4YzFU/v-deo.html
was it hootie and the blowfish?
They're due next
Thank you for making this video, we've all really enjoyed watching it! It's interesting you mention the manual being a bit vague; we are actually currently working on making individual manuals for each vehicle, so hopefully this will be clearer in the future. Congratulations on the birth of the twins, we hope the Multimac serves your family well and we look forward to seeing how your family and business grow! :)
Sounds great. Can confirm the twins and the 3 year old all fit happily into it!
Great little video 👏🏽👏🏽
Thank you 🤗
You are so right about the experience being more important than convenience. There is a feeling of community which you can’t get in a coffee shop! Maybe it’s because we’ve all made the effort to get to The Barn either on foot or bike? I love sitting with my coffee looking over the fields, listening to the birds, hoping to see the odd deer racing for cover ( thats happened twice now). Bliss ❤
So good to hear, thank you. There's definitely an element of community derived from the nature of the location and how people get here.
screw massive car parks
Quite. American sports stadia are the worst example of this kind of thing.
No idea why I got recommended this video but watched every second with intense interest. V interesting thank you for sharing. As a Londoner, the slow pace of that place sounds like a dream
Haha, thank you for watching. Believe it or not, we're technically Londoners too down here, just. It is great having time and space so close to the city.
Awesome vid!
Thanks Matt!
Interesting video. I am quite a regular, I discovered you when the Brothers put their sign up on the path from the Stew Ponds to the Star, a while ago now. I’ve continued to visit since, always on my bike. I love the vibe, beautiful countryside and staff! Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks Mike, people like you are what makes it all work, catch you later in the week I'm sure!
Thank you for showing the installation proces and especially the problem with the M10 bolt. I'm in process with getting my own multimac. Would you recommend buying a brand new or do you think a used one would work?
Pretty sure second hand would be absolutely fine. They're built like a tank and with most kids related stuff people tend to treat them well enough. Getting the right fitting for your car is the only bit which will change but the manual on their website covers most major manufacturers I think.
Booked for camping in April. Will be doing the long trek from Epsom! Really looking forward to it. Best of luck with your 11 endeavours.
Awesome, see you in April! We may be a bit sleep deprived at the time.
Definitely want to do another campsite visit this year!
be great to have you back!
SO excited for 2024 at The Barn KT9
Sign me up for some cycling events🙋🏼♂️
Careful what you wish for, this year's gravel event was like bog snorkeling! Late summer on the cards this time round 👊
Subscribed and booked camping for April next year. Looks fantastic!
nice logo / mic placement ;)
😂 Novelty of trying the magnetic clip thing was too much
Just stumbled across this video as I'm planning on making an outdoor table from scaffold boards in the new year. Some great advice in your methods, but I can't help noticing the enormous lift in the joint just under your chest. I'm guessing the boards are cupping because they're only screwed to a baton underneath, rather than glued or dowelled at the joints.
You are completely right tbf. It was only after I watched this vid back that I noticed it and then sorted it, but by then it had had so many views it was up and running. Have made a couple since which have remained completely flat, having the right support underneath is the main thing.
There is a similar system used at The Queen Stage pub in Effingham it’s called Stamp Me.
Interesting, hadn't heard of that one before. Looks like Queen Stage is the only similar kind of business around here using it, but it has similar numbers of downloads and positive reviews as Magic Stamp so it must work pretty well.
Amazing space. Loving the farm diversification journey
all that and the cafe was closed 😮 😂
yeah sorry about that, if it makes you feel better our biddons still taste of conditioner ;)
😂
Just picked my boards today , going to follow your guidance, thank you . Your table looks fantastic, love the colour but will take your advice and try danish oil
Unfortunately, scaffolding board are not for free nowadays. Sometimes it's worth to just buy them new. The difference ain't that great.
Yeh got lucky 3yrs ago. Also built a shed at a similar time out of 130 epal pallets, they're £10+ each now too.
Great job
Superb matey , looks lovely
amazing the tutorial at the end is so useful!
PALLET PRYER is the Easy ANSWER to DISMANTLE pallets, I like it, good job for almost free.
Nice video, Bariloche is a place we want to visit soon!!! Hope you enjoyed your trip!!!
Looks like it’s cupped in top left
Exactly, to your point I don’t know anything about woodwork but I am defo going to give it a go!
Man. I'm useless at DIY but I think I could do this!
My mum always told me off for putting elbows on the table! Your guest had no manners!
UA-cam algorithm is on fire. I love cycling and I'm interested in building things from pallets. That's quite a niche.
🤣
Bla bla bla bla...... . Bla bla bla......bla bla bla.. ....
?
How strong were the walls before the roof was fitted
hi mate. pretty strong, once they were joined at 90deg at the corners to the other sides they were solid.
Espero que vuelvan a la argentina , pero esta vez visiten mí ciudad ""mar del plata "",pero en el verano austral ,ahora hace mucho frío por aquí 👍
Morón, Is an área of the conurbanization of the City of Buenos Aires and that Is how it Is aslo called a Football club .. Morón Is not ""fool""..😂😂😂✌️✌️👏
Hey my friend show the City ,Not you jaja 😀👍🇦🇷👍.. greetings from mar del plata Argentina 👍👍🇦🇷
Cupping badly by the looks of it.
What’s cupping and how do you resolve it?
How long did this take you roughly? I dont have a farmer as a Dad so not as much access to free materials but i like how simple youve done it, not bothering with insulation but instead using the pallets as storage!
Couple of weeks on and off. 3 or 4 full days probably. It's quick and easy once you have the materials, sourcing pallets and getting them to where you're building is the time consuming bit.
Nice accent dude....
