A sparse upload schedule highlights the technological endeavors of an Idahoan teenager that's too "frugal" to buy expensive professional hardware.

Replacing an unresponsive STM32 microcontroller
I wanted to do some prototyping with my trusty STM32, which I had soldered to a breakout board for breadboarding. But it wouldn't connect to the STLINK utility. So, with my abundance of floating STM32s, I just slapped a new one on!
I got a nice digital microscope for Christmas, so I thought I'd record the process.

I have created a boat. It is named Cetus. It will carry scientific payloads to explore the bottom of various lakes.
Stirling Engine Version 3 Test Run
Переглядів 1,3 тис.8 місяців тому
This version of the Stirling engine has a water-cooled piston. This solves the thermal expansion issue that it previously faced, allowing it to run until its fuel runs dry. The engine runs on 91% isopropyl alcohol. I plan to connect some sort of load to the engine in the future. #3dprinting #engineering #diy #stirlingengine #machine

It runs, but my valve design is experimental (and sucks) so I'm gonna replace that with a more conventional design.
170 volt slayer exciter with 5 cm arcs
Переглядів 7902 роки тому
This Tesla coil uses a single IRFP460N MOSFET, powered by a simple half bridge rectifier. The gate is protected by a bidirectional pair of 15v zener diodes going to ground. I would add more protection circuitry, but I don't have any 400v TVS diodes. A small transformer is used as a ballast. The secondary coil form and toroid are 3D printed. I was going to use a 40W light bulb as a ballast, but ...

Dont stick your fingets there use your closed f8st the discharges will be longer and stronger
Mmm chips.
Tuch it with your knuckles it makes a lot bigger sparks then
Is that an sstc?, can yiu make more videos about this coil it looks really good
It's just a slayer exciter. You can find plenty of schematics online. This one is only unique in that it uses a high power MOSFET powered by half-wave 170v.
CAN I HELP BUILD THE DUCK BOAT!?
Yes, yes you can.
THAT’S ME I’M THE FRIEND !!
Captain i think theres a German U Boat in this pond!!!
The cyber rat is in your walls
sick boat!
Look like you "FLOATED YOUR BOAT!" 😱😁😝🤪🤣👍👍🇺🇸
What capacitor did you usw?
Just a bunch of super tiny mylar capacitors. They were absolutely not suited for the job and exploded very quickly.
Oh sorry to hear that at least they worked good but short
😂😂😂
This has no axle, it will spin out of control when you try driving jt
What... what does that even mean?
If you're referring to the fact that only one wheel is driven, you should know that many early automobiles only had one driven wheel and ran without any control issues.
what engine is this?
A steam engine. In this video, though, I'm just blowing into it to demonstrate how smooth it is.
im a simple guy: i see stirling engine i upvote!
I was trying to find the words. Then this comment organised my sentiment exactly! EXACTLY! Today has been a good day! Great video and build Voltarian Technology Inc! Sounds great!
Next trick: hook the cooling pump and a fan for the radiator to the output shaft of the motor. (~_^)-b
I've been looking into that. I can run a fan quite easily, but driving a water pump is going to be quite a challenge. I'm thinking of using a water pump from one of those oral irrigators. They seem to have good low friction. I had one, but I tried to turn it into an air engine in my college dorm. Oh well.
@@voltariantechnologyinc.8594 Bunny Luck on making it work eventually! (~_^)-b
Stop it before it causes another industrial revolution

Woohoo hell yeah!
Hell yeah!
How fast does it go coupe Im building one myself
I never got it moving lol. My batteries were too weak and the sheet metal was too flimsy to reliably keep the motor in place.
@@voltariantechnologyinc.8594 ok i also have a lot of problems right now!
so thats what streetlamps used to look like
'Promo SM'
What is that
PIIIIIIKAAAAAAAAACCCCCHHHHHHHUUU
the entire thing is shifting across the table (*⁰▿⁰*)
wheres the heat source
It's just running on a fridge compressor. Still working on a boiler.
The video didn't capture it because my noise balancing is ruining every video I record for some reason, but this thing roared pretty loudly. Like revving a big truck. I had to fix it a few times because the joints on the linkages would pop off. It wasn't made for such high pressures, but it sure can take it.
An insulated needle might help or a bigger one to lower resistance.
I fail to see what that would contribute, considering that the high voltage makes the resistance of the needle negligible.
Mist have had an old CRT TV collecting dust
Cool , very cool what transistor did you use? Any schematics ?
I used an IRFP460n MOSFET. The circuit is a modified version of this one. www.instructables.com/Tesla-Coil-the-Russian-Slayer-Exciter/ This one is very simplified. If I recall correctly, I used the same resistor values on the base of the MOSFET except the pulldown resistor was 1.8k. I just used a 15v zener to protect the gate. I skipped the rest of the protection circuitry and called it a day lol. I used a transformer to limit the mains input and just used a half wave rectifier to interrupt it. I don't have any thyristors. And pro tip: use a capacitor to smooth the power input. I've been having trouble popping MOSFETS on my half bridge SSTC and I think that's what's causing it.
i shouldn’t be laughing this hard
And yes, I know holding together a mains powered Tesla coil with alligator clips is unnecessarily sketchy. I have it all properly soldered together and assembled in a neat little package now so don't yell at me.
now weaponise it

I'm just waiting for the day when I hear a massive explosion and then firetruck noises😂 I'll know the exact reason without even having to think about it😂
Surely you create a child slapping robot
ok now steam powered rocket when
I could actually to that, theoretically. Just hook up a bottle rocket to a boiler.
