Hey mate. Great camper. Question about construction strength. The plywood walls and roof once fibre glassed, would the roof be strong enough to hold roof rack with roof top tent, or would you need to construct metal support from trailer base, like what you have done. Cheers.

I have the full griddle unit and love it. I have some of the same issues such as the lanyard screw missing but blackstone customer service sent me replacements. the powder coating has worn against the lid but who cares its a cook top not a car show. this guy is a huge cry baby. he didn't buy it. he was gifted it. talk about ungrateful. I guess mommy didn't read his mind as to what he really wanted.

lol I got mine for $130.00 USD and cook like a crazed man on it. No problems for me but I will keep the bolt tight

A couple cosmetic blemishes doesn't effect its ability to cook.

Great presentation. I just had a "not-so-good" experience with a bargain brand unit. I ended up tossing everything except the actual heat exchanger in the bin. I am thinking of building something using the heat exchanger with new electronics, etc. I drew a lot of inspiration from your build. I think Harbor Freight has a similar case to what you have for about the same money. Might have to give that a go one day. Absolutely agree with you about the wiring. That small gauge wire that comes with these units might be all right for a very short run, but anything over a foot or so needs to be heavier. At least 12 gauge. Gotta be able to get the current to these things for startup and shutdown. In the mean time I have an H-Calory "toolbox" unit on order that should fit my need for heat while trying some winter camping in my Avalanche here in Wisconsin. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to put this out. There is a lot of good information here.

Why are you running two separate batteries when you can just run one battery to Black Box and Monitor?

I normally don't blast anyone but I'm struggling to understand why you are running this Blackstone in the ground on a couple of items. So blackstone created an aluminum cooking griddle with a coating to keep it light weight for optimum portability and it is their fault you bought the wrong utensils to use on it? Weird to blame them for your mistake. You also mentioned you need to buy a special cleaning kit....I'm confused, everyone else says to clean it warm soapy water. To be fair, I don't own it, maybe they are trying to sell you a special cleaning kit. The missing nut for the hinge latch, the chipping paint I understand and agree they should be better. Interesting this review said nothing about actually cooking on it and the performance. I bet you could call Customer service and et a repalcement nut for the screw in the latch hinge. They may even send you new side panels. Certainly you shouldn't need to do that but hey in shipping and transit this can actually happen on occasion. The feet thing I'm on the fence about. Certainly they should be perfectly flat in a perfect world, yes, absolutely. However, with 4 adjustable feet it will still sit perfectly flat if adjusted properly. Again, yes, they should be flat, but they would still work.

Holy moly dude ! What the hell ! I bought 4 different CDH and never had the problems you had ! 2 of them were cheap AF 55 bucks each ! The first one I bought was 230$ and the second was 179$ ! None of them , even the cheap ones had any pump issues or controls . Anyways , best of luck man !

A tip from a 40+ year fisherman.... If you are allowed to use it... try fresh cooked shrimp (buy cheap frozen shrimp rings and divide into sandwich bags)... use a white 16th ounce jig with a chunk of shrimp... in my neck of the woods we have been having 50+ rainbow/brookie days for the last month... give it a try if you are allowed....(check your regs)... I like the trasheroo but expect to replace it annually. The color also fades real quick. I use plasti dip which helps a-lot with the fading. It also seems to help the canvas. After a year of use the seams start to tear and my buckles just started breaking as well. You can buy 6 of them for the price of a locally made one though.
