I keep reading about how one is supposed to “grow one’s channel,” but I don’t even know what that means. Should I buy a watering can?
I prefer to think in terms of what Anton Chekhov once said: “If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly.”
Whatever I’ve got here - and I can’t promise it has any purpose or direction - to me it’s worth doing badly.
Hop along for the ride, if you like roller coasters.

A privately-owned militia-truck with a tripod-mounted machine gun in the back pulled up next to me on a peaceful street in my hometown. WTF! Has this election-year's civil war started already, and no one told me?

I recently re-discovered two videos dating back 15 years. One is me off-the-cuff reminiscing about a former colleague, and the other is that same colleague volunteering as a target in a student “pi-throwing” event. (Jim was a mathematician.) In this video they are spliced together in remembrance of a friend gone now ten years. Life conspired to treat us differently. One is still enjoying retire...

Liked how you did this video .
🙌Wow, awesome job 🙌thx for sharing
Thanks for watching. I had forgotten all about this post until you directed me to it again.
Yesseima❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏♥️♥️🌸💋
Nauseating story this is. People who confuse cruelty with strength utterly disgust me. I'm a fan of psychiatrist Dr Bandy Lee, who says that psychiatric symptoms are contagious and we have another pandemic, one of mental illness, happening around the world right now.
The world is not a very nice place right now.
There are a lot or cruel persons in world. Beaware of them
❤❤LOL❤❤
Nice content
Bartleby seems very energetic Good to see you enjoy time with him too MR. Have long happy live!
Thanks for watching.
Need to take some notes of it
We want more of this content!
"... locked in a visual embrace"; "that's a moment that can't be undone"; "we make ourselves transparent to the Transcendent" - at first I thought you were reciting some renowned poet's words here! I really particularly like those lines! You expressed very well much of what I felt in that recent encounter with the injured feral cat. When you do quote a poet, "a splendid intrusion of the miraculous," I love that line too! I hope you get to see wolves again. I'm most struck by how this wolf moves. Just through the movement alone, something very unfamiliar and yet also very familiar catches my eye and takes me into some kind of dream world.
The first two quotes are mine, the third is actually a concept I read about in a Joseph Campbell book, and the third is by someone whose name I jotted down in a journal 40 years ago but have long forgotten and subsequently thrown away. I took the wolf video 3 years ago in Yellowstone but recently realized that AI advances in editing could make it look a whole lot better than when I first posted it. (Cameras have gotten outlandishly better now too, and I just bought a new Nikon.) Thanks for your comments.
Wow!
lol don't jump to conclusions. they are lots of military collectors and enthusiast out here in the world and aren't trying to be terrorist or what ever kinda baddy you think they are. dont be a sleepy sheep.
I agree. I was actually just funning around tongue-in-cheek. The logo on the side of the truck was for a gun store.
That said, the undermining of our democratic institutions and the promise of violence is real.
A very frightening and disturbing sight!
So charming! I have a golden about the same age who does many of those things! 🐕🦺

Este perro pura nobleza e inteligencia que felicidad tenerlos los adoro, Gracias por el video
What a good sign re: Tzuri!
I love watching Tzuri, being Tzuri. Pure happiness.
So do I!
Of course, puzzles are too easy for her!! That was really cute when she turned around and "asked" where her gift was! Looks like she got several!
🙂 🙂 🙂
I commend you for tackling these difficult topics and providing some organizing points and background. "Disinformation for profit" is a term I hadn't heard before and it's quite unsettling how well it explains a lot. I'm not entirely sure humanity is going to be able to make the needed course changes to avoid going over the cliff of extinction. Many years ago I read the book "The Philosopher and the Wolf" by Mark Rowlands and in the beginning he says that the one true difference that separates humans from other animals is that humans need to have a story about themselves. That always stuck with me. I'm a little puzzled, though, how people are lured into the world of crazy conspiracies and lies (including a family member of mine), but I think it has something to do with that deep need for a story. But I believe we can self-evolve and mature our story. Individually and as a whole. I hope.
The fact that we create stories about ourselves, as you say, suggests that we can tweak and grow those narratives. Which gives rise to optimism. That those stories can be so firmly embedded in our self-image as to be virtually indestructible without shattering our core concept of who we are, on the other hand, makes me pessimistic. Next year is going to be interesting, to say the least, and I don’t want to miss a moment of it!
Tzuri definitely seems delighted with her awesome flying chew toy!! Lol!
OMG I love this!
LOL! 🙂🙂😄
I hoped Tzuri would jump on! With time she might have,🐕
Wouldn't that have made a great video!
I love this!! Such a smart girl. Everyone knows balls are not supposed to be hiding in the air, and especially not on top of sticks that are also levitating. Now on to Easter egg hunts…🤓
If I take her back out there again I bet she'll know exactly where to look!
Well, that shiny red ball is just the best!!! It's so cute how she couldn't quite get her mouth around it! Later she is such a pro and knows how to handle a ball!
She definitely perseveres at it! I think that's why she was chosen for the team. 🙂
Stunning. Both the bears, and the photography.💚
I want the beef! Bison: YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE BEEF!
mmm. Buffalo steaks and buffalo burgers.

Oh, the places you’ve gone…❤
Aren't they amazing!
Fascinating! Particularly so as our grandson spent a year (2019-2020, gap year between Clemson and medical school) in Billings working with opioid crisis. Jim N
Very interesting insights from your perspective and experience! I didn't know this was already an active issue happening in classes right now. I guess low grades for bland and generic writing and high grades for original and creative writing will be more important than ever. Congratulations on your retirement! :)
Thanks, Claudia. I may not be teaching but funny how projects immediately rush in to fill the void. You have such great walking locations where you are, and Tidda looks so vibrant and comfortable when she’s with you. Thanks for regularly taking us along on your soul walkies.
No clue how this wound up in my recomended but pretty good.
