The Irish Coast Guard (IRCG) is Irelands 4th Blue Light service and provides a nationwide maritime emergency organisation as well as a varety of services to shipping and other government agencies.
In partnership with the other Divisions of the Irish Maritime Administration the purpose of the IRCG is to promote safety and security standards, and by doing so, prevent as far as possible, the loss of life at sea, and on inland waters, mountains and caves, and to provide effective emergency response services and to safeguard the quality of the marine environment.

Fishing Vessel Rescue January 2024 Donegal
4 Fishermen winched to safety by Silgo based Irish Coast Guard helicopter. Bunbeg Coast Guard Unit and Aranmore RNLI Lifeboat also tasked to the vessel. The Incident was coordinated by Malin Head Coast Guard Rescue Coordination Centre.

Irish Coast Guard Units return to training with helicopters after an 18 month break due to COVID -19 restrictions. The Kilmore Quay Unit are the first to to have a helicopter training session with the easing of restrictions.

Fishing Vessel Ellie Adhamh and Irish Naval Ship LE George Bernard Shaw with footage taken from Irish Coast Guard Helicopter R115 in rough sea conditions off the SW Coast. Crew later rescued by the crew of Helicopter R117 and incident Coordinated my MRSC Valentia. Vessel Sank the following day on Sunday the 28th March 2021

No law enforcement activities?
None. Maritime law enforcement is usually down to Customs and the Irish Navy and then over to An Garda Síochána.
But now can't use emergency warning equipment to make progress through traffic like other bluelight services.......All the best if your clinging onto a cliff for dear life!!
