Fastback Flying
Canada
Приєднався 7 січ 2020
Fastback flying will showcase a wide range of aviation related videos from aircraft maintenance to IFR flying and everything in between. The odd none flying related video should keep things a little interesting as well!
We aim to motivate and inspire you to get out there and enjoy life and the wonders of flying. Trips to Oshkosh, the Bahamas and local farm runways with friends will give us lots of great experience.
I will also look at the equipment I fly with, how to plan big trips and how to make sure your looking after your aircraft to the highest standard.
Lets get out there and fly. Happy tailwinds!

Landing the 7ECA on a 1600 foot long farm runway with a serious hill on both ends!
Immelmann Turn
Переглядів 1993 місяці тому
A brief look at the Immelmann Turn in the 7EAC Citabria. I am not an aerobatic instructor and you should not, under any circumstances, try any aerobatic figures without proper instruction. You must also use an aircraft that is certified for aerobatics. This video is for information and interest only.

Cessna 310 repair: Some of Penny's troubles
The audio quality is amazing 🤩
What a sight
That's really neat!
I shared the video with the fa.ily in Germany & Ray in France!
Gorgeous view
Probably more dangerous than flying right cheers 🤙🏻
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Some of those items look like Jenga blocks....
Everyone needs giant Jenga
Glad you thought of poor Mia!!
She is hard to forget. 😊
Very cool, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
My neighbor had a 310 he flew for business and he flew it a lot. I used to take him to airport and pick him up. 310 is big up close. Big fuel injected fast mover
Happy tailwinds to u sir
What a machine that 310 is❤
It really is fantastic and a real joy to fly.
Pass him
That may have eventually happened lol
I did enjoy the video! Haha. Thanks for the narration and telling me about your plane.
In Alaska we had 3 people and a load of Coho salmon. The limit was 18 fish each. Big fish!!!
Had 2 David Clark DC ONE-X fail on me within a year. Brand new, less than 12 months and 50 hours on them and the microphones are not working. Already had one in for repair on the mic, came back and worked for about 3 months, and then broke again. In my close to 30 years of flying, this is one big quality disappointment on David Clarks side! I guess there´s a good reason the competition are sitting on the market! Off to Bose next!
would you not need a transponder if you buy the AV-30?
The tailbeaconx is the transponder. The AV30 controls it.
Many hours flying Aztrucks in Africa…very solid and reliable machine! 👍
Sounds quiet and smooth.
Your entry roll needs to be the same rate as your exit roll, that’s a proper barrel roll, and it’s about 70-75 degrees of pitch there about✈️
Very nice! I thought my runway was tight 😮
I have recently borrowed the A20 from a friend and now I do not like my beloved H10-13.4 anymore. Went to a shop to compare the Lightspeed, A30 and the DC. Unfortunately they didnt have the one-x and only the prox2. What I found was that on the Pro X2 it was not so easy to keep the Headset on the head when moving the head. The one-x uses the same head, but I assume the larger earcups help keeping it to sit tighter. Do you have issues when moving the head? I really want to try the one-x.
Amazing!!!!
Whee! 🙂🙃🙂 When I was shopping for a plane of my own a few years ago I did some taildragger training in a Citabria to see what I was letting myself in for if a taildragger caught my eye. Fun little plane!
It really is alot of fun and an economical way to get around as well with enough baggage compartment for some tools or camping gear.
sensational ! looks like a blast
It is alot of fun and always a good challenge.
Hi there М20A during landing, sways from side to side on a runway. What can be the possible cause? Thank You in advance for your prompt reply!
If you feel the issue is in the aircraft I would check tire pressure and condition. Make sure they are wearing evenly. Then I would place it on jacks and check that axle nuts are secure before moving onto the condition of side braces, bearings and system pre load. This should be done prior to your next flight to prevent gear collapse.
@@fastbackflying853 thank You
Awesome video thank you for making this!
Great insights on handling forced approaches! Keep the basics right
I was just sitting in this plane today! It's great to see all his work come together! He has done a fabulous Job!
Hey good job on pointing out the propeller. I had about 1200 hours in the Aztec and I thought maybe I completely forgot since I haven't found them for many years. I think you learn as much from your mistakes as you do from just general training so I really appreciate your honesty and lack of ego because I think it helps us all learn. It's been so long that I forgot but after you identify an engine failure on takeoff do you feather the prop before mixture cut out? I couldn't remember. I just remember right after takeoff we were taught mixture props throttles all forward and then identify by slowly bringing the throttle of the assumed dead engine back before completely closing it. Then I couldn't remember if you were supposed to bring the mixture completely to lean or adjust the propeller to feather first.
Nice! Maybe for future vids, could you leave the sounds of the engines? That's the best part about the Aztec and any twin really!
Can you do us a favor and do an actual video of the checklist and start up and let everybody know what it takes? Thank you.
I might be able to get that done in the next few weeks
That gear looks hilarious on the way up when the airstream helps it fumble backwards.😂
It looks like a big grasshopper
@@fastbackflying853 "gear up". "How about we just unlock it and see what happens"
That runway is something else.
I always enjoy flying in and out of there. It just feels like real flying.
WHAT IDIOT thought running power lines right in front of a RUNWAY was a "good idea"?? BURY the GD things!! Time for a LAWSUIT!!
Immelmann is useful
Go to watch her take off from 25 feet away while awaiting my ride on the B17. Surreal experience.
The only thing that frustrates me about the 360 method is that you need to know the elevation of the ground under you at the time of your engine failure. Totally fine if you're in the training area you use every day but in a real life situation you're unlikely to know the elevation of the area well enough to make a high/low key work and you dont have time to pull out a map and try to find a spot elevation with everything else going on. My school leans very heavily on those numbers and I hate it because its just not gonna work if you're flying over unfamiliar areas.
You have some excellent points here but I do think that at most times you are aware of your height above the ground to within a few hundred feet. Obviously if time allows you should be finding the height above the ground on the chart. If you are in an unfamiliar area or flying a cross country then you already have the map out or the EFB working and are tracking your progress. With all forced approach procedures it will eventually end in your judgement of the situation, the height and the gliding distance available. This needs to be practiced sufficiently with known numbers so that you understand what is should look and feel like so you can pull it off in an actual emergency that is not planned for.
How is it for amateurs to land? i have heard porpoising stories, is it significant?
If the airplane has been equipped with the VG kit it's much easier to land. The standard airplane is not difficult it just needs an experienced pilot who can teach you the differences so you don't make a mess. I think if you approach the airplane in a positive mindset where you respect it's differences and evaluate each landing and make adjustments you will be just fine.
@@fastbackflying853 Do vortex generators affect the cruise speed significantly?
@minnesnowtan9970 No I don't think you will notice any difference to cruise speed.
I just had my mags rebuilt last month. I was surprised how many quirks it solved and the 100+ static rpm gain was quite the shock. I'm feeling a lot safer now 😅.
It can't cook coffee so he is still needed.
Neither can the apprentice.
@@EduSued that's a good one that came unexpected but with a great timing.
I don't know about you but I don't cook coffee, I like to brew a pot instead
@@youhackforme thank you for the correction. In my native language we say "Kaffee kochen" which literally translates to cooking coffee so I thought I could use that here.
@bastiannenke9613 I enjoyed your translation and use of cooking coffee. It put a smile on my face.
This is great to see. Thanks
So freaking cool!
Nicely demonstrated and flown. But the verb is 'rolling' rather than 'banking'.....as the aircraft is rolled to an angle of bank in a turn.
How wonderful is that!!🎉
The most plane looking plane to every plane.
Good looking craft
It really is but I still think the early 310's look even better!
I flew in one owned by Andy Kulon. Loved it.
Very cool!
Wowser. Better than baron
Oh that is nice wow. All that cabin room oh yes.
Oh yes! My biggest compliment with the D model 310 is that you run out of space before weight.
@@fastbackflying853 yes I understand that. This is a whole other dimension in utility. What a magnificent design
