The size is nice, but the inside looks aweful. There are so many videos out there with nice naturalistic builds (bioactive or not). Even if people insist on these anthropomorphising enclosures (your beardie does nothing with a "home" sign), at least avoid injury risks like the carpet which is pointless and claws can get trapped.
@@Hochdorff thank you so much for watching!!! Mac is doing just as fine as he did in his last enclosure which was a “nice naturalistic build”. Plus, I caught him looking at his home sign so I think he likes it. 🤣

Side note its not carpet it’s more like a t shirt material. Idk if you’ve held a beardie before but their nails do not get caught on t shirts/ cotton

I'm getting my female Eastern Hermann Tortoise this week. I'm building a summer enclosure after Christmas now the cold weather has arrived in the UK, so she'll be inside with her lamps until then unless we get some freak sunshine. She is currently the length of a AA battery.

that’s how my female beardie was acting dec to march brumation. But she wouldn’t eat anything at all. When she did come out she ate like 5 superworms but no salad. But mine was actually sick and from what my vet said she was dying she had a respiratory infection and vet said it wasn’t. I had to have her put down back in April this year.

I never knew that's a negative condition. I thought the "spike" shapes on their shells are designer quality!
Apparently it’s common for leopard tortoises to have them have them even in the wild. But overall pyramiding is a negative thing

I came across your Chanel and I am seeking advice from leopard Tortise owners. Do you leave his heat lamp on indoors all the time or do you turn it off at nightime?
I live in California and can turn it off at night. If your house gets too cold please use a ceramic heat lamp. It emits heat without any light. It’s important for reptiles to have a day/ night cycle. So those red lamps and night lights etc that you see at reptile stores are not a good option sadly. I keep his lights on for 10-12 hours depending on if it’s winter or summer.

How old is he ? Can you do a video on his shell process over the years ? Their shell changes drastically since hatchling ?

Hi! I have been watching your videos and have seen you change Frankie's enclosure a couple of times. Will you give me a list of what you add for his bedding and where you get the stuff? I just recently got a couple of leopards myself. If you can direct me to what is best for my little guys, I will be much appreciate. I have seen pet stores and other videos with wood chips from zoo med repti-bark for bedding. But then i just recently saw your past videos that it can possibly cause Pyramiding
Hi! So technically the bedding itself won’t cause the pyramiding but a dry climate will. Cypress mulch, sphagnum moss, and a soil play sand mix will hold moisture more than other substrates. In Frankie’s indoor enclosure I use a 50/50 mix of top soil and play sand. Out doors I have grass and soil. Both enclosures have a sphagnum moss hide that I make sure to keep moist.
I get the play sand and top soil from Home Depot. You can also use cypress mulch. The sphagnum moss I get from reptile store. Pretty sure you can get it from Amazon too

@@christinemrtz6637 hehe yea, my girl’s bottoms is very similar to Frankie’s. Also I have 3 boys younger than Frankie who showed me their pp 😅 during bath and the tail difference is very telling. Hope you post more of Frankie, I love leopard tortoises 💕

I spot clean regularly and change the substrate every 3-4 months roughly

yo guys did a really good job, I’ve been really interested in making one of these.. I usually keep my tortoises outside so they can roam wherever they want too but recently my dad forgot to close the gate n one of my Indian stars escaped lucky I got him back thanks to some person driving they had posted him on next door app so I was able to get him back thankfully but I’m afraid I won’t always be as lucky, i’m just real nervous about building an enclosure because I’m not that good at building things
