It's story-time here and MWR. It's a sad sad story. It's about a liquor store that has raised it's prices to a ridiculous level and now I (the princess in the story), have to find a new liquor store to shop at :( More importantly, I'm drinking Old Grandad 114 for the first time!

Is this Whistle Pig whiskey worth the price tag?

This is Whistle Pig Estate Oak Rye Single Barrel 15 year (that's a mouthful). Let's dive in to it and see how it is. If you've ever tried it, let me know your thoughts. I couldn't find much information online about the single barrel, but I saw the standard offering of the 15 year 92 proof has an MSRP of $199. Worth it?

I love the redwood line especially the cask strengths but the shelfers for the price are seriously solid. Mend well Jill! Hard to do but listen to the doctors! praying for no surgery!

Redwood Empire American Whiskebatch 01 is now what we know as the lost monarc. It has been discontinued and was bottled in 2017. I believe. I'm not home so I can't check. It is definitely different. If you have the Lost Monarch. Maybe blind them to see how much it changed. Cheers. I'm happy you like it.

My very first 1792 purchase was a bottled in bond store pick and it sold out so fast! I’ve only had 2 pours since I’ve opened it bc I’m trying to make it last as long as possible. I’m looking to try the sweet wheat offering next 🥃

Have been on the fence with picking this one up. The last two times I picked up something different, the most recent being the James E Pepper Barrel Proof (Batch 23). I may pull the trigger on this now, I love sweet whiskey so this might do the trick. Good luck with the house! Cheers 🍻🍻

Buffalo Trace is becoming more available here in NC/SC. I’ve even seen 1liters for $38. I like the Old Forester 86 proof for daily drinking and mixers but I’m starting to hit the BT more with it being available. I’ve got a bottle of the OGD 114 but haven’t tried it. It’s readily available here and about 25 bucks.

Nice review Jill. I have always liked OGD 114 alone and it is a great mixer. It is rumored to being discontinued, so I have 4 backup bottles in case. I found OGD 114 in Wisconsin for $20, so I loaded up. 🥃

Wheel Horse is a product of Green River in Owensboro KY. They used that brand name and a couple others when they wanted to get away from the O Z Tyler name and before they rebranded as Green River. Redwood Empire did the two latest experiments of Screaming Titan (wheated) and Foggy Burl (American single malt). The Foggy Burl for me was a choco bomb.

Where are y’all at. Where I’m whistlepig is almost always at or below msrp unless its boss hog.
@@cocopuffs198993 I'm in Indiana, but I won this bottle. I've never seen it or the Boss Hog. I just don't think the whiskey is very good, even at msrp.
I've always had a hard time getting behind this brand because of their price point

Got the Bullet Barrel proof and the B524, I will be visiting the Bullet prf more often, the complex oak Carmel vanilla,citrus, pf, it's just more sipable, that's what I enjoyed about the A124 at 119 pf, the B524 is good, but spicy hot on the tongue.

Been looking for this one for a while. Found one locally and spent the $200+… fantastic pour! Really really enjoyed it. Reminded me of a 108 proof Stagg batch 18.
