The Gideons International is an interdenominational association of Christian business and professional men and their wives, serving together in reaching people with the Good News of Jesus through personal witnessing and the distribution of God's Word in some 200 nations. Since its founding in 1899, over 2 billion Scriptures have been shared worldwide by The Gideons. Their Gideons' primary activity is spreading the Gospel, locally and globally.
The Gideons have three key focuses. Associating together, personally sharing their faith, and sharing copies of God’s word. By associating together they focus on discipling one another and building one another up in faith and boldness so that they can go and share their faith with individuals who need to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior. Finally the Gideons share copies of God’s word, believing that if a person takes and reads the words inside of a Bible that God’s word will not return void and people will be saved and given hope by the power of the Holy Spirit, drawing and ministering to people who need him.
What the Gideons do is not something that we cannot do ourselves. The focuses they have are all actions that we can take.
#1 Do you spend time with other believers, building one another up? We meet together to do just that as a church. Join us for Bible Study @ 6-7:30pm on Wednesdays or Sunday School @9:30am.
#2 Do you share your faith? Pray for God to bring to mind those who need to hear your story and share what God has done in your life.
#3 Do you share God’s word? Do you read God’s word and take it with you? Join us this week in reading the Bible. This year we have challenged each other to read 37 different books so far so will you read it with us?
