Go around and finish the edges to make ‘em stackable.
Dude, it’s like watching the Native Americans use up every part of the buffalo 🤔 Good work!
Amazing! I guess I need to look at a color wheel more often and more closely. Also, I really need to lose my fear of using oil washes. Lol PS. Aren’t those long thin things in the bags of the sphagnum moss just the seed pods?
I'm working on building battle terrain for my D&D games and your videos have given me so many good ideas to make the tilesets beautiful! Thank you!
Well that is awesome to know... I am currently working on a whole bunch of updates and new stuff too so hopefully you will get to see some of those in the near future :). In the meantime good luck with your tile sets mate!
Man the blue dry brush is so nice !
Thank you so much... I really do want to get an update out on this set!
Wow! I like what I see! You should have way more viewers!
@@xornxenophon3652 hey thanks that’s really awesome of you… and yes hopefully in the not too distant future I will have more. Had a lot on my plate these last few months though and it has been a challenge to get stuff uploaded… but I am on the edge of new releases finally 😁
Would love to see what you do with the big styrofoam thing at 12:00. Looks like packaging? The reason being I have saved some of that stuff thinking I should make something out of it. :D
@@negativegradient heh… I am completely unable to let this stuff get thrown away, I see epic city scapes and gigantic space stations in every last piece so I am very much going to get this on the channel in the coming months… may be a serialised build though 😉… thanks for watching!
Wonderful news. So glad to see all your wonderful work pay off
@@CampaignTerrain slight delay due to not really thinking about the logistics of launching on the same weekend as my biggest festival weekend 🤣
That’s super news 😊really looking forward to this
@@marylynn9297 thank you… I am really stoked for this too!
We'll be here, when you get it all sorted. Meanwhile, I'm very much hoping you can still access all your old files 🤞
Mostly yes… thank heavens for iCloud 😮… sadly there have been some losses to which I am yet to know the full extent 😕
Been there, myself. I feel your pain. Remember, back up data, just like voting; 𝗏̶𝗈̶𝗍̶𝖾̶ save early, 𝗏̶𝗈̶𝗍̶𝖾̶ save often
Ahh man that sucks - what an expensive mishap that must have been... look forward to your next upload, be cool my friend :)
Cheers Beard… yeah a £1600 repair or a brand new iMac for 1800… one generous dad later and I should be able to get some editing done this coming week and have stuff on the channel the week after!
@@Terrain_Craft_Chronicles Awesome! I'll be looking forward to that :)
this is great ive looked for a good way to make different types of mushrooms for a while now until i stumbled upon this, thank you so much
These were really fun to do and super quick. With a bit more time I would spend a little more effort on priming or sealing the aluminium foil... but I was in a rush for these ones 😂. I have been thinking of returning to this set and exapanding on some of the designs! Glad that you enjoyed it.
Awesome!
Thank you very much :)
Excellent stuff as always. Did you build your bridge out of EPS foam? I'd like to see your artistic take on Drow/Underdark terrain. Perhaps your concept of Underdark architecture, building facades, altars, bridges, statues, portals etc.
Hey Mark... all my terrain uses EVA foam as the core material so theres a slightly different approach than XPS. I do like the idea of Underdark though and in fact there is a strong potential for exactly that in the not too distant future for my dnd group, hmmmm interesting... but dwarves first 😂
Hi Sean (awesome name btw), it was lovely to stop and chat with you earlier. I wanted to talk your ear off a little more but I was carrying my son who had been a little overcome by the day! Looking forward to learning loads from the channel! Your setup was absolutely breathtaking!
Hah ha... yours too 😝... you probably guessed I can talk endlessly about terrain and art! Hope your son enjoyed the day, its a lot to take in! Enjoy the channel mate
Hope you have a great expo.
Ah cheers... talking my ass off 😂
looks awesome! tiles look great too!
Thank you... I hope that they are well received over the weekend 😀
Looking good! I'll definitely stop by and say 'hi'.
Awesome 😄
100% the ship!
Hah... that vote could start swinging the balance 😂
I want to see more of the dwarven walls. Eventually something I want to make.
Awesome... The Dwarven walls are definitely getting much love 😝! Thanks
Intrigued by your system at 18:30, whatever your ideas on that are :)
Aaah... I am quite excited by this new project to supersede all the other ones 😂. I will be revealing my plans for that soon but you can find a little sneak peek at it on reddit :P
Reddit Dude here again Sean, I felt bad for my only interaction being off the platform where comments etc help the algorithm! Subbed to Raven On The Roof, excited to see what will come there. I also enjoyed how you lamented about not being able to finish projects whilst cutting out blanks for yet another project ha! My vote to get sci-fi done, would be great to see it completed and together. Thank you for slaying 25 minutes of my working day wishing I was a full time artist.
hah hah... and here I am contemplating if life would be so much easier with a regular, dependable salary in a 9-5! Hopefully I will be able to provide more distraction more regularly in the coming weeks as I attempt to finish all this off... so long as I can restrain myself starting new shiny ideas :P
I would love to see your process on the Dwarven walls, but I may be a little biased because I have a Dwarven project on the go. To be honest though, any of it would be cool to see. People will eat up any content you serve. You do great work Sean. My intro to your channel was the fallen city modular blocks. What an absolute gem that video was, I've probably watched it a dozen times. Look forward to seeing more amazing content in the future
Well that big pile of EVA that you see me pawing over in this video is going to present a big extension to my city blocks for sure so that dropping in a few videos time :D. I really wanted to get the dwarven walls finished up for UK Games expo this coming weekend but that will not happen now sadly but I do have something that I am quite excited about to show there and here on the channel hopefully this coming week!
Definately the ship. And then another ship and like 2-3 small boats. Being able to use the moveability of ships instantly takes any RP encounter to another level. Add in a couple of shark fins and/or tentacles and you got the ingredients for some epic shit to go down. Secondly behind you there are a few blue plastic containers. Put some paint and rust/grime on those. Those are basically readymade industrial dumpsters in 28mm scale hidden behind a 5-6 minute crafting session.
Heh heh... I have been eyeing those up for a while now with just such a plan 😂 When I started this ship I was actually making two but time and deadlines meant that I had to ditch the other one at a much earlier stage, it can still be resurrected though!... thanks for watching :)
Look forward to seeing you at Gamesexpo again
Awesome :D
Oooh new channel name!! **settles down to watch**
Yep yep... sharpening the focus to a fine point 😂... enjoy!
Love the dwarven walls and the modular alien spaceship, would like to see you finish them all!
Heh heh ... eventually they will be, I need space to make more so I gotta clear the project shelves :D The dwarven walls do have a bit of a deadline on them so they are a likely candidate and as Alien is my other main ttrpg theres a strong potential too... you chose well :D, Thanks
Always a joy to see what you're up to. I wish you all the very best, both here, and in focusing the art brand
Real nice to hear from you Cross... I hope that life is treating you well :) And thanks for the best wishes my friend!
This really is an underrated channel in the miniature space. This video particularly, too. It's these processes outside of the realm of what hobbyists do by rote that makes your perspective really worthwhile. Every now and then i come back to rewatch
Wow thanks... I really debate doing videos about mini painting as there are a lot of really pro folks out there where that is there sole focus. I have been collecting every issue of Stormbringer though and thinking of working my way through them and doing highlights on the channel... what do you think? Glad that you enjoy the stuff I am doing :)
Better terrain than mine! lol
Oh man you made me feel terrible! 😂... I admire anybody who puts a crafting knife to any material with the intent of giving their players an immersive experience... what it looks like is down to personal taste. I saw a guy doing terrain the other day which was just brown card with details done in a sharpie pen... so simple yet really great aesthetic! You can sure do better reviews than me... its why I haven’t ventured into them as I just don't know where I would start!
Hi sir! I was the one who post in redit about my terrain using EVA yoga mat! Thank you sir for you comment! God bless! Shout out for your next video❤
Hey hey glad that you found me... love EVA 🙂
@@Terrain_Craft_Chronicles i love to see you sir using EVA for terrian and tutorials
Good to see u back brother
Ah Cheers matey... hope that you are well!
Change is good 😊
Hey Hey ... Ade, good to hear from you my friend! I hope that you are well and yes I am totally in agreement with you so I am excited to see where it leads for sure! 😃
First video of yours ive seen. A very pleasant video. I love the connection system that Wylock started with the tabs. Really simple and effective. Ive given up on the one inch grid idea. But my players are still stuck. Im going to have to make some form of measure stick and spell template for them. Final thought, is it a "meager artist income" or "artist meager income"? Cheers
Hah Wylock ... I haven't watched his stuff in quite a long time but is no doubt where the seed was planted, I also realised that in the video I didn't actually show the tab system working so I will accommodate that in my upcoming vlog series "Monday Montage". As for suggestions on the grid, I am often perplexed by folks becoming so hooked on it, I think so long as you can visualise what 6" looks like then you know what 30' looks like and from that extrapolate most range considerations or area considerations... I think that tension and story should overrule any need for exact and measured accuracy... it may well be harder to determine say 120ft or longer ranges with this method but I don't know that it is so important, I am sure though that very tactically minded players need the additional degree of accuracy but to my own mind that is missing the point of the epic character story in an intense life or death moment! I am grammatically challenged so I can't answer that last observation ;)... thanks for watching and glad that you found me!
I think that visually, when using 28/32mm tall miniatures, the floor grid needs to be 40mm square, so 5’ actually looks like 5’ !
When I made my original 3x3 tiles based on the standard 1" grid it really did always seem too small, a base barely fits into that area so a 15' square room would become extremely constricted with just three mini's in it... especially if there was any scatter terrain! My own living room at home is about 12x14' It has furniture and can comfortable sit around 5 people... so yeah the 1" grid is way too small. I don't actually use a grid and although I suggest here that my 4x4 tile can easily be read as a 20x20' area, in game, if needed I will call it a 15x15' area which certainly opens up the space a little! Cheers
hello again :)
ello!
I've had the same thought about tiles. You don't need to inscribe any sort of grid. A simple 3x3 tile has corners, sides, and a middle. That's plenty of info to place minis. As always, I enjoy your take on terrain. It feels different from what a lot of other folks are doing, and it gives me interesting ideas on how to approach my own builds. Keep up to great work!
Yeah this is exactly the point... it is just enough information so that you can apply the tactical if you want it but it doesn't interfere if you just want a visual aesthetic! Really glad that you enjoy the stuff I am doing, I wonder what it is that makes it feel different :P
Oh man it's so good to see you back making videos :) throwing away terrain is often not an easy thing, but it is so cathartic when it is the correct thing to do :) Thanks for the tag as well - take it easy brother and see you soon :)
It definitely feels good to get a new if somewhat ramshackle episode up... I really aim for this to be the restart that I need! And always a pleasure to give you a shoutout my friend :)
I'm sure it was hard to let go of things created, but in the end cleaning out and clearing out feels so good! :D
Yes it does... And the space it has cleared in my so called terrain room is definitely giving me motivation to finish the projects that have piled up over the last few months... Hopefully you will see the completion of those here soon :)
I love your perspective as an artist coming at the hobby. It's wonderful to see the beautiful terrain you create!
Wow thank you :) I do enjoy mixing my art and terrain ethics... gotta do more of it!
Ah, the game all hobbyists play: storage shelf Tetris.
LOL mine is Billy bookcases from Ikea, and I had friends laughing at me asking if i need to move to a larger home to get more bookcases :/
Hah hah... yeah we did move to a larger home @tinaprice4948 😂 and these storage cubes are definitely like tetris for sure 😜
Good terrain is always nice, but at the end of the day, theatre of the mind is what we really remember. :-)
Heh heh... I was only chatting to my old gaming group tonight and reminiscing over games from nearly thirty years ago... we definitely didn't have terrain back in those days 😂
The D&D group I play with is currenting running Descent into Avernus, as head crafter I appreciate having resources like yours to help create!
That is awesome... Although my group weren't running through DiA they did get caught up in Elturel for a short while and plan to return to help the cause. This set was built for that stretch of their game and it was frustrating that by the time they got to it we were deep in lockdown so it was used over a live camera feed... as yet they haven't returned there to play on the physical terrain! I reckon that they will be on it by the summer of this year though ! Glad that you enjoyed it :)
Glad to see you again. You inspired me a ton with your eva videos!
Oh man that is a really amazing thing to say... I get so much enjoyment bringing these videos out and sharing my passion for the craft! To know it inspires is genuinely heartwarming... thanks my friend, stay in touch, with a good wind in my sails you will see some of the new stuff hitting the channel soon!
Your ability to carve the EVA is really masterful and makes it stand out from all the XPS crafting in the RPG and wargame space. Really fascinating.
Wow... thank you thats an amazing thing to say :D I am glad that you enjoyed it!

Ah cheers Beard 😜 Gotta keep on top of it now man!
