      ah ya, I get it. I've scrapped some videos because the cicadas have been so noisy in the background, and drown out my voice. And I was like, ya there's no way I'd finish listening to the video because they are so loud. But thank you for mentioning it. I've been loving getting out in nature, I'll see what I can do, maybe find locations where they are not so noisy... ;)... or maybe there's times of day when they are quieter too.

    Vision and hearing. When I hear an unlikely comment from someone close, or from a stranger occasionally, my ears prick up and my vision becomes more acute. Agree with you strongly that the gut and heart are major signallers of inner knowing (that too often are ignored by us).

    As a self saboteur I have found that 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' is the only decision making technique that I can trust myself with. I go for simplicity and avoid adventure or it just might be that little monster again, that is out to take everything from me. I have stopped giving myself the chance to mess things up. I'm looking deeper in myself too to seeing how I can set up boundaries to not just allow it being taken from me, that's of course, easier said than do though.

    This is a real problem...I changed my major to a very extrovert one and felt my left side of brain exploding since day one. Especially people can be very ambiguous and challenging when they are actively approaching you than when you watch them from a far. We need very systematic approaches when working in a active environment

      ooof, that's tough when you're in a place where extroverts are encouraged and thrive. Years ago I might've assumed that "burning things, releasing energies (etc)" is hocus pocus. But now I look at it from a different angle. I now see this as analogous to cognitive practices like visualization techniques - like an athlete might do before they compete, or a public speaker before they speak, or (maybe more aptly) a meditator in their daily meditation. We do this every day unconsciously. But we also can do so conciously, like we do when working out - we *intentionally push heavy objects around in order to improve our QOL (pushing heavy objects around would otherwise be pretty stramge, right?). On the psych side, one might imagine taking a moment to "releasing he bad stuff" while exhaling, during a simple meditation. So, if you see it yielding a positive outcome, why question it? As an analytical guy, I thrive while 'reasoning through' interesting concepts - when I can consider their probable causes and outcomes. But 'over-rationalizing' can be detrimental, in cases such as these. Sometimes the experience of oneself is what one needs - and the causes and effects cannot be precisely rationalized. Consider these: music, and dancing. I dare someone to explain to me rationally why music "isn't inexplicable" (or strange), from a purely rational stance. Are they less rational or abstract than scented candles, smudge sticks, brushing away energies, etc - of one's mind has the imagination to 'bring to life' these actions? Perhaps dancing and music are not "apples to apples" with smudge sticks and candles, but at least (o think?) a neighboring concept! Thank you for sharing this perspective. This, I feel, is a thoughtful perspective that I think people can genuinely connect with (i did). As strange as the idea of candles and hand gestures might seem, it is personal and genuine. I see you blending the abstract and tangible in a way that any empath and/or abstract/creative thinker can connect with.

    • @youfindingyou
      @youfindingyou Місяць тому

      Thank you Richard, I appreciate the thoughtfulness and your curiosity to explore the ideas. Your thoughts had me thinking about it too. If I think about music, dancing and smudging, I think the commonality for me is it gets me into my body and/or into my feelings/emotions, (which also connects me to my body), as well maybe not always, but often then into being present and out of my thoughts. Like if a song comes on that I love and I have a feeling that comes up, or if I dance, like freestyle dancing to a song, I really just let my body feel it. And with smudging I am doing a movement around myself, being present with the intention. It might not be exactly apples to apples as you said, but there might be something in there, some commonality, to bringing us to being present and more into my body/senses (at least for me ;) ).

      I sometimes wonder too how I did cope, and definitely what didn't break me, just made me stronger. I now have such compassion as well for those that are in it and struggling to leave.

      Thank you. ❤ thankfully that was many years ago and I have healed in many ways from it. And now know my own worth, and have higher standards for myself.

    This hit home. When I stopped drinking, the need for change went from a whisper to full voice. It's as though the alcohol kept the truth at bay. This was so many years and a lifetime ago and I will always be thankful that I managed - with support - to start listening to that voice that said "we need to change some things." Thank you.

    Can you do a video (or a series) on how to know when to walk away from someone in an active addiction? Anything on how to support someone who’s in an addiction.

      ooo, interesting, let me see what I can come up with here. I was in a relationship with an alcoholic years ago, so definitely can feel and know how difficult it is to care so much for someone, but not able to fix or help them fully, without them wanting to do it for themselves.

    Thank you for all these healing lessons. Is it okay to mention you as a reference for helping with shadow work.

      Of course, and thank you. And I'm glad to hear that it is helpful. I feel so many people do healing work mentally, but don't go into some of the deeper emotions, feelings or sensations in the body, which for me has made big changes.

    I think some people use it as a speaking pattern, to say no as the first word. I said to that person, why do you say that, I can't always be wrong and I smiled. It is often the problem of your next people, to get room. But you need your room also and you can say, it is a no way to say no as every reaction, it is nonsense😂, the other person needs to reflect their false speaking pattern, and to search for good in your speaking at first and to overthink before speaking.

      Oof, it is so difficult to interact with people like that too. I'd be curious what it is that comes up in them to "have" to say no initially.
