Testing random function in WIP dress-up game
If it's art. It's a technique not yet known to man. Not using paints or chemicals, but rather technology not yet available to man. It's either an alien artist or it's the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. I believe the image is a byproduct of the technology involved in the resurrection.
ua-cam.com/video/UP6KzzAwgnk/v-deo.htmlsi=DlIuqhYyNUumDefL
Nothing new there. Still looks like a work of art.
A rubbing technique would penetrate through most if not all of the threads - about 0.34mm in diameter. The superficiality of the image on the fibers only penetrates 0.2 microns / a fraction of just one of the fibrils making up the thread.
My position do not hinge on it being a rubbing, though I think that is the most likely method. Rubbings can be done in different ways. I don't think it has been excluded that some method of rubbing over a bas-relief could have been how it was done. I'm not aware of any large testing of different methods and chemicals aimed at seeing if a discoloring of a very thin part of each fiber can be done. At most you can say that it has not been reproduced yet. I can see two other ways is could have been done and there might be other ways that I don't realize. The fact that it looks like the artifact is done by an artist that thought that showing the genitalia would be in bad taste, supports that it was made by a human, one way or another. That's convincing to me. If that is not convincing to you, that is fine.
I'm with you on this hypothesis. 👍
Surreal, and mesmerizing!

hello! i have a question, how do i make the characters move from front, right, left, and back using the wasd key? what about putting a cutscene after you walk in a certain place?
how do u make the sprite walk faster as well?
The linked thread contains different ways to make a character walk by me. You might find useful stuff there. See what the different parts of each code does. Then you will understand what you need to change in the code to get the results you want. lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=53333#p502719 Note that this is getting a bit old and I'm not actively using renpy anymore. There might be changes in renpy that I'm not aware of. The lemmasoft forum might be the best place to get up to date information.

hi! first, thank you for the tutorial, its very easy to understand :) second, i wanna change the sprites to another character at some point in the game, but no matter what I did, it only showed the first ones. I re-wrote the code for the second character but now it only shows the stand sprite and even though I click the screen, the character doesnt walk, is there any way to fix it? thank you in advance!
Not sure how I ended up here but very intrigued right now
awesome, thank you for this, you're a life saver! i love your drawing too :^)
...is there any way to retrieve it after your pc crashed, you already put autosave on, so later, you open firealpaca again, the autosave pop up popped up where it says "recover autosave files", but you accidentally clicked no instead of yes... i... canbt do this anyremo
There should still be a backup file in the auto-backup folder. Find that file and drop it in the the open FireAlpaca application as described in the video.

helloo!! thank you so much for this tutorial! everthing working fine! but i have two qustions: 1 - is there a way to add a imagebutton/or a option there is only possible if you are close of a specific image (like a nps's interatiction is only avaliable if you are close to them) 2 - how i can put a limit for where i can walk? like a wall, table, etc sorry for this questions, but idk how to found help for this type of games in renpy, hope you can help me!
OK 1. You want to measure distance between 2 points in the x direction. One point would be the player characters x position (playerX) and the point the player need to be close to (placeX). Lets say the distance we want is less than 50 pixles, we would have if (playerX-placeX<50): To make it work also when placeX is the higher number and the subtraction returns a negative value you will want to have the absolut result of the subtraction. if (abs(playerX-placeX)<50): so if (abs(playerX-placeX)<50): [show button or whatever it is you want to happen] else: [hide button or whatever you need to stop things happening if that is needed] 2. if (playerX>600): playerX=600 This will stop the character from moving past 600 pixels on the screen in x direction.

This for only x and y axis right? I dont want the charecter to move up and down just left and right would do
Yes this code is for walking only in the left/right direction. Not up/down. At the link below I have collected a couple of different methods for walking. lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?p=502719#p502719 They are getting a bit old and I don't know what changes to the Renpy code has been done since then.

@@edzu2771 You can use renpy to detect input from a gamepad. But I've never done that myself, so I don't have the details on how to do that. I would expect that the first step would be to detect and initiat the gamepad. www.renpy.org/doc/html/ might be a place to find more information.

Hello, is there a way to make the character go faster?
Awhile since I did this, but the code lines starting with 'linear' controls the movement of the sprite. The first value sets the length of time for the movement. Setting this to a lower value should increase the speed. Same distance in shorter time = higher speed. In "dist/100.0" setting 100.0 to a higher value should do the trick. You need to do the same change in; $ renpy.pause(delay=dist/100.0, hard=True)
@@perkgrok822 Thanks! And I'm sorry but I have another doubt, for example when it is going to the right but I want to go quickly to the left, I can not do as if the animation is interrupted to go to the right to go to the left? that is without having to wait to make the whole journey to go to the right.
@@nicolasmenin5595 Well Renpy is not really built for having characters walking about, so when you implement this kind of functionalities there will be some limits to it. I did a couple of different works-arounds to make a walkable character a bit back in time. You will find a collection of those different methods here lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=53333#p502719 Maybe you will find something there that better suits what you want to do. Each method has limitations and drawbacks though.

Hi! thank you for this, maybe a bit stupid question but how can I make a fixed button appear at a specific position when an image is moved, like your video? If you could provide me with an answer, I would greatly appreciate it..."
So when you position an image in a game you basically decide the position compared to the top left corner of the screen (screen origin). Often you have a background that does not move and sprites that are moved. In this case we have a moving background and the sprite for the walking person is at a fixed position. To have the background move we have an x and a y value (we can call them offsetX, offsetY) for where the background is to be in the given frame compared to Screen Origin. If you have a sprite (for a button or anything else) that is to be in a fixed position compared to the background, you need a 2 step process to decide the sprites position on the screen. You will have position of the sprite compared to the background, lets call the values, spriteBGx and spriteBGy. The sprite position compared to the screen will then be, (spriteBGx + offsetX, spriteBGy+offsetY).
@@perkgrok822 I didn't expect to get your reply so quickly! I've been pondering for days before deciding to ask. Thank you for giving me a great clue. I'll try to figure it out right away. Hopefully, I can succeed. Thanks again! ♥♥
@@perkgrok822 I'm sorry to ask what might be a silly question again.😭😭😭😭 Firstly, I did manage to succeed with the part you taught me earlier. Now, there's a button on the screen in a fixed position. However, there always seems to be a delay when the sprite moves. I'm not sure what I should adjust on the image button to solve this issue... Maybe you have some ideas about this? This is my failed game screen...😣😣 ua-cam.com/video/VgIAka_GBRU/v-deo.html Thanks again...🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@changzeng6661 What I see is that that the background movement runs first, from start to finish. Only then is the position of the button updated. What you need is that the button position is updated each frame that the background position is updated. Exactly how this will be done, depend on what code you are using.
@@perkgrok822 Thank you for your reply❤ While I still don't quite grasp Python, figuring out how to update the button position each frame alongside the background position update is too challenging for me. However, your words have given me some inspiration. I immediately made changes because it just looked delayed on the screen. , I decided to directly place the button image on the background and added a transparent image button at the same position. Now, everything works look fine , you're so kind! I'm really sorry for taking up so much of your time. I really, really appreciate your help!!❤❤❤
Hi there Geo 😀
Cool, really reminds me of old Flash games that you would play on the school computer in the 2000s! Just warning you that Nintendo is horrible with copyright, especially with fangames so you may want to distance it from Mario's gameplay to avoid a takedown
Thanks for the kind words and for the head ups on Nintendo's copyright shenanigans. Learned about that just a couple of days ago on Newgrounds and then read about the takedown on Gamejolt. The takedown demand from Nintendo is kind of fuzzy on what the grounds for the alleged IP breach is, just a blank claim. At least in what I've seen. There might of course be legal correspondence that I've not seen. With Gamejolt, Nintendo seems to have put some weight on Gamejolt making money from advertisements, which leads me to suspect they are claiming Trademark infringement rather than copyright. There they could have a legal leg to stand on, when likeness of their characters and characters names are used. On copyright alone, maybe not so much, unless ripped sprites are used and/or a very close copy of an actual game has been made. All in all the Nintendo actions seems to me to be a big guy trying to squash smaller actors by the shear weight advantage. Right or wrong it is not worth the cost of the fight. That could however be a really bad good will move. Special toward actual fans. For myself I think I am well clear of any justified claims. I am using the basic idea, but that idea cannot be copyrighted. Everything above the original idea is my original work. And I have no commercial intentions (matters for trademark but not for copyright). That does of course not mean that I could not have claims directed at me. A well, testing level 4 coming up very soon.😄
what is your script for this
There are a lot of different things going on in that clip. Nothing that could be shortly and easily explained and I have not done ren'py in a while now.
How can you change a scene when a character reaches a certain distance?
So in this script the background is what moves. The x-position of the background (rx) is what shows at what point in the room the character is. So you check for if the x-position is over or under a certain value, depending on at which point you want to change scene. When the x-position goes beyond that point you have the script jump to a label where the next scene is set up. When you goes into the next scene be sure to close the screen for the the scene you are leaving. if rx>400: jump NextScene
Bra jobbat!
