Wow that is beautiful. I first heard this song in Kansas City in '74 when IO joined the premie bluegrass band "Country Love" featuring Janet Thurston Rucker vocal and banjo and John Stephens male vocal and guitar and Bob Burdett, bass (he later became a chiropractor in Marietta, Ga), also Kelly on pedal steel guitar and Leroy on mandolin and me on extra guitar. We took your song to nursing homes, to bluegrass gatherings, and once up to Lansing to the prison. But I had met you at John and Lorna Smith's arm in Nova Scotia when you came to buy the hay we had taken off the 25-acre field named "Maggie Lizzie's" after an old resident there who had hand-carried milk jugs from her cow about a mile or two down the road to have them picked up. But Maggie Lizzie was gone by then, and John bought the field, which was full of fine ripe hay, for $900. I remember, John told me that after you loaded each picup load of hay bales, you said you'd be back "if nothing happens"! After you were gone, John said "That's Jon Eswards the folk singer", so I guess I didn't actually meet you, but close. -One thing I don't miss, well three things, are - well, four things- mosquitos, no-seeums, black flies, and horseflies.

I am so happy to have finally been able to sit down to fully enjoy and appreciate this glorious homage to Tony and Margaret Dale. I have great appreciation for those who spoke and shed tears along with them as voices cracked and eyes were wiped. Two lives well lived and well celebrated. A tribute to your whole wonderful, musical, creative community.
