First Look at the Aoostar TB4S-OC M.2 USB4/Thunderbolt and Oculink Enclosure.
This is just a part 1 so you get a chance to see what's in the box and the internals. I plug it in so you can hear the fans.
I'll follow up when my M.2 drives arrive and I will test the speed and thermals, and fan noise under load.
Just FYI the Y-power connector works great with my Minisforum MS-01. Might just be an all-flash super-NAS if the drives are fast enough over USB4 or Oculink......
Let me know in the comments if there is anything specific you'd like me to look at in the follow up video.

In this video I'm hoping I can show you how using a combination of accessories for the Wacaco nanopresso system you can assemble a great portable system for making espresso on-the-go. As you can tell from the video this is a gadget I'm using nearly every day! 0:00 Assembling the perfect camping espresso machine for on-the-go coffee 0:04 Wacaco Nanopresso portable hand pumped espresso machine 2:...
Breville, the Puck Sucker review.
Переглядів 28 тис.2 роки тому
A short video about Breville's new Puck Sucker (my first video). I've called my portafilter a grouphead all the way through the video but I hope you knew what I meant! This machine was supplied to me originally as part of a bonus gift pack for Australian purchasers of the Breville Oracle and others. I suspect this was a test marketing of the device. This machine aims to automate the removal of ...
It doesn’t work
Still working for me...on original battery too!
Just some advice, your portafilter looks pretty dirty where it seals against your group head, I'd take a brush to your seal. This also would help your puck sucker as it has very little suction power, even a small amount of grounds between the portafilter rim and its seal will reduce vacuum greatly. Now that you have had some time with it, what are your thoughts?
Thanks...I'd agree. The perils of one handed filming ;) The unit is still going strong on the original battery with daily use..around 3 coffees per day. My other half prefers the knock box that came with my Breville but surprisingly I'm still using it. It does have the odd misfire if I allow the seal to become dirty but otherwise all good! Still not sure about the name though.....
A quick knock or a annoying DC motor sound. yea, ok.
I'm guessing you're a knocker....
Volume way too low.
Thanks for feedback...first attempt and can fix but haven't figured out how to reupload.
@@guinan6631 Volume probably fine for many people but I have a hearing problem. I still gave you a thumbs up :)
Fab video many thanks. I know it is dependant on many factors, but what roast are you using and what grind size have you used there please it is a fab shot!
stali.com.au/products/st-ali-wide-awake came free from Breville as part of same promotion. It's good - but likely you have an artisan coffee roaster near that can do something as good (I think I had it on grind size 18 on my machine).
Thanks for the video but are you kidding me? I wish I got my few minutes back from watching this. Who would buy this? I rather have a gadget that will unzip my bag of coffee.
LOL....look for the onscreen button with two vertical lines next time! Breville are working on 'The Pack Ripper' as we speak (though I have TM the name)....
Agree the coffee machine is great, but there is a learning curve. Cannot think of a good reason to pay out £80 on the Puck Sucker just to avoid having to go Tap, Tap a couple of times, though!
Thought the same but got it as a special deal....still using it every day (and battery going strong).....
Have you tried it with the single shot basket as they tend to be a wetter puck that doesn’t knock out cleanly. We mainly pull singles and this would be great it it works with the single basket?
Might be my single shot technique but wet puck. Sucks it out but not cleanly and leaves a rim of coffee grounds. Not ideal.
I always use a tamper after the automatic tamp as I find the dose more consistent plus the portafilter is cleaner as well, thanks for the review and let's see if Black Friday will reduce the price of this item
I've adjusted the coffe amount and the tamper pressure and don't seem to need an extra manual tamp? Hope you had sucess at the sales....
What about the single-dose basket? Does it work on that one too? I'm having problems that coffee remains sticking in the edge of the basket... (I know I should be using the single-dose basket, but the wife does...)
I'll give it a go over the weekend and let you know. Should work as the sucker relies on vacuum through the portafilter. Nothing wrong with single shots!
Thank you so much for this video, we've been considering getting one but wanted to know how they worked first :D
Glad it was helpful! Let me know what you think when you get it.
Awesome first video! Thanks!
Thank you too!
I use a Breville infuser and I don't even use a knockbox. I hold my porta filter over the garbage or compost and just one or a few downward shakes without hitting anything gets the puck out. I imagine the seal has to be wiped regularly to ensure there is a proper seal. Silliest coffee product I have ever seen. Edit: How does this work with the double wall basket? that filter is a real pain to clean out. The puck sucker could be justified if it works with that.
The seal doesn't have to be as clean as you'd imagine because it has a soft rubberised-type coating that keeps the seal even when some dried on grounds are there...have neglected mine for last couple of weeks and still 'sucking pucks' so can say that I've tested this! I don't have the dual wall basket with my Oracle so haven't tested this but others may comment?
Well done on the review, just to advise, it’s called a porta filter not a group head :) the group head is where the porta filter goes onto on the machine :)
Thanks...I realised after I'd posted it (amazine what your mouth says when you are trying to film in one take!). See text underneath for correction :) lot's of new terminology for new baristas....
We've got the puck sucker on the way - same promotion after purchasing the Breville Oracle Touch. Interesting to see how it goes. What helped with our last coffee machine (Breville Infuser) was getting a bigger knock box. Much easier to get the puck out just with one hit and way less mess. The little one that comes with the Oracle is sooo small! I can highly recommend the Sunbeam "bang bang" (almost as ridiculous name as the puck sucker).
Thanks for the tip. I had looked at the bigger Breville 'Knock Box' but this arrived before I pulled the trigger and so far has served me well.
I’ve had the puck sucker for a while now. It works a lot better than a knock box as far as I am concerned. As long as the portafilter is seated properly, the puck comes out after around 1 second, and it’s very quiet - not sure what’s going on with people who say it’s louder than a knock box? It could be improved by adding a soft rubber seal around the opening so that the placement of the portafilter doesn’t have to be so precise, but as long as you put it down straight, it sucks the puck like the box says!
What kind/brand of beans did you use for your shot?
The coffee in the video is the Wide Awake blend from St Ali, Melbourne, Australia. Came as a months supply as part of the promotion. Very good, fresh and enjoyable. I'd definitely recommend checking out your local coffee roaster though - they'll be happy to give you advice about the type of beans to suit your taste. The Breville really shines with fresh beans. The beans in the video are here; stali.com.au/products/st-ali-wide-awake
Solution looking for a problem
I wouldn't completely disagree though still using the 'sucker'....
Slower than a knock box. Doesn’t sound quieter. Way more expensive. Will eventually break. I see no reason whatsoever to buy this
Baaahahaha my thoughts exactly. I guarantee that any normal person who buys this will use it for a couple weeks and then go right back to the knock box. Easier more convenient couple knocks and done besides it's also quieter lol...
Still using mine even though I thought the same initially.
@@guinan6631 Well I guess I was wrong then. Good stuff hope it lasts.
My puck sucker is on the way. BestBuy has a discount price. Breville Canada does not list it on the website. I have the Oracle Touch.
Don't you want the succ?
that name :D
Before I posted the video I searched 'deep' for information....Google was determined to serve me links to information about 'Sucker Punch'.
@@guinan6631 Breville / Sage released this product yesterday. I'm really surprised that you were able to buy this a few months ago.
They gave them away (as test marketing) as part of a promotional pack for Father's Day in Australia. Looks like they are rolling them out gradually around the world judging by the views for this video. Out of stock currently here in Australia.
Is this the official real name?..
LOL...my thoughts exactly. Maybe I've just got a smutty mind....
"the Puck Sucker™" is what it says on the box.
If it came with the machine then maybe... if I had to buy it? Heck no...
I wasn't sure if it was worth the asking price to buy one when I received it. I have however used it several times a day since getting it...
Will be interesting to see if the battery lasts 12 months.
Still going strong for now...depends on how bad your coffee habit is.
Word of advice to e61 owners who are eyeing this, got a mate to bring it to my place, we tried it on my e61 p/f about 2 dozen times, only got 3-4 clean 'removals/sucks'. His Breville p/f seems to be of a slightly different design and his one worked in about 75-80% cases, but even so, it's a case of hit and miss. Might need to wait for V2, fingers crossed, as I'd really appreciate a less 'banging' option for our household.
Thanks for testing this out. Really helpful.
I have the same, and it works great every time first time. Just be sure to place horizontal. Could not do with out this little unit. Got via the gift pack with the double boiler.
Good tip! I'd also recommend keeping the area where the portafilter fits in super clean as you then get a better seal and better suction on your pucks.
Can it support 54mm portafilter?
It's very much designed to fit the 58mm Breville Portafilter and has to make an airtight seal....their website implies it'll only work with Breville portafilters. Will have to try it with another type of 58mm!
No
I've seen people say it does actually work on their 54mm ones but you need to position it carefully.
Waste of money. The motor in the Puck is as noisy as using the bin manual version
Definitely not silent but Breville only claims the puck is 'quietly released'. It's quieter than my knocking out of a puck.....
Noisy compared to what??? beats loud banging sounds....
Yes very noisy, I can attest to that. Slightly quieter than banging on the bar though ;) However it's still loud enough to wake up the baby, for those interested.
@@drazenbabich Quieter than either the grinder or compressor on the Breville Oracle though. No babies in our house to test it on (not that we'd condone experimenting on live humans).
I’ve never seen one of these - what a great idea! Great review too - really genuine and easy to watch and understand. Can’t wait for more reviews!
Glad you enjoyed it! Just looking for what I'm going to review next....any requests?
@@guinan6631 some music equipment would be great.
I have it I love it
it’s grown on me too. I’ve got better at using it (2 handed) with practice. My first video so appreciate the feedback.
