How FAST Can You Go on a CHEAP Bike? // FIXED GEAR
Come take a ride with me on a shockingly cheap, yet super cool Golden Cycles fixed gear bike with a factory oil slick finish. Is this bike a waste of $300 or is it actually fast and fun to ride? Let's find out.

Riding Fast in the City // Fixed Gear // Track Bike

Here’s a fast bike ride around downtown Portland featuring Mount Tabor on my track bike. Lots of climbing today but also a lot of fun pedaling downhill. No coasting in this video. For those who think that cheap/budget fixed gear bikes are slow and not fun… think again :) Thanks as always for joining me and consider liking, commenting or subscribing if you enjoy these kinds of rides! I think it's not the matter of what's faster but what's safer while still being fast that is important. I noticed that fixie riders always run red lights and try to squeeze their way through moving traffic. I've never seen a road cyclist or casual cyclist do that. It's always them. What's even more funny is how despite all of that, once the lights turn green, I would blow past all 20 of them on my road bike. I guess it's just an instinct to them not wanting to stop riding that thing.

I thought it was wood but it ended up being that fake slippery laminate stuff. I went very slow at first but the bridge seemed to go on forever and I wanted to get off of it quickly so I went a little faster. Poor choice haha. I just got home from surgery so now I'll be looking out the window as we are in the tail end of summer 😂 Thanks for the recovery wishes!!

Thank you!! Yeah, my front tire lost traction and slipped into the railing and that bounced me back to the opposite side of the railing. Not sure if it was the impact on the ground or railing that caused the break. Also I thought I was riding on wood but it was definitely plastic-like, very slippery!

Fixed gear is a single speed where you cant ever coast, imagine going on a downhill where you hit 70+ km/h and you have to keep spinning no matter what or lift your legs like a clown, if you pedal strike you are boned, you destroy your rear tire to brake very inefficiently, but people swear on their mothers they can feel the chain efficiency difference. Its cool to do tricks like cycling backwards though.
