It's hard to gush about this highway when the indigenous peoples of Oahu see it as a cultural indignity, but it is impressive. The highway flies high above the tropical forests atop sixty-foot pylons before diving into the bowels of this extinct volcano through the Tetsuo Harano Tunnels. It's the most expensive stretch of highway ever built cashing in at $80 million per mile.

As the tide goes out all the water from the Portage Inlet has to pass through this narrow channel. When it comes in it does the same thing in the opposite direction.

No. It moves so quickly that it's never on one spot long enough.

No. Just sound to light.
