A Canary appliance is about €600, not $2,500
I'm not OK with flatpaks, they make Linux worse than Windows (FU Canonical, Hello Debian!). So no thumb up and subscription for you.
greetings from Egypt .. nice tutorial .. was very informational
Excellent instructions. The most thorough Qdevice install on Pi that I have run across. Thank you - Uncle Bob
Worked great, thank you. Install on Dell r730 with a Perc H730 mini 12Gbps SAS Controller. The only thing that was different was the PCI number, I just type "sudo lspci | grep raid" mine was 03:00.0. Then just used this and carried on to find the id of the card. All seems to be working. Many thanks.
What's the scam? "The ServerPartDeals Scam, Explained"
2 things. 1. forget that dumb hackerman green scrolling text, it does nothing but make you look cringey. 2. your voice is all over the place. pick a tone and stick with it
Arguably the best arch Linux install guide for some reason is better than others even though it is made for hyprland I used arch install grip for it to brick my usb and my laptop but this archfi smoke is good
I found out about this video while installing proxmox on r730 server It's really cool. Thank you for the high quality video I think I'll watch a lot of your passionate videos in the future. They're the best!
miss those days, was so much more organic and underground. I assume you did your share of mudding as well ? :) great job love your channel
I love this tutorial man! You installed hyprland from the start instead of using an install script that I mostly see others uses. It was amazing tutorial! Give a like
Lemme know what you want to install next!
0:43 did I just hear the coin sound from super Mario?
That's been in the Arch ibstaller systemd boot for awhile - in fact, I should do a video of how to put it in an arch install!
This script is awesome thanks for the tip😇
any torrent tracker recommendations? :)
I've tried it 3 times now. Each time I failed at the following things: 1. I don't know anything about Docker and find Docker very complicated. That's why I couldn't mount a network drive for the photos. 2. How do you make automatic updates, because there is so often a new version. 3. How do I get my jpg file without the immich app? Because I would like to back up the pictures again.
Geek stuff, loving it man:)
More to come, rockstar!
Bruh.... Get a rug or something. That echo is killing me
I so can't figure out my damn audio... if you listen to other videos I've tried different settings - I just don't get it, Yeti Blue. :/ WORKING ON IT.
You have a then than typo in your thumbnail
I suppose you're right. I'll remember to change tonight -couldn't figure out a 'cool' Immich thumbnail. :/ Thanks!!
if i made a video like this it would be "why you should buy your own hard drive instead of renting one on another pc" :) ps: i don't use cloud storage. everybody wants to see your files and even better if you pay them every month, it's crazy to me why people do this.
Self-host everything!!
Should've got more RAM for that tablet, or at the very least purchased a more premium model. Also the thumbnail and title feel misleading. I would change the title to something like "How to put apps on SD card" or whatever
Great point. I got a TMobile deal, and needed a separate wifi plan - was going to pay the same $20/mo with NO device so I chose to take a 2yr plan because I was going to keep it for that long away. Agreed- if this video was a review I'd suggest an S9 or the best A9+...
Why does the thumbnail for this video show an S9?
This 'hack' works on any Galaxy Tab running Android 14. In fact, many other tablets too - but I wanted to include multiple Tab models so people would know to click.
Yeah,that's a bummer.
What part???
My hyprland is only 8 mb small and doesn’t show up as display manager to choose
Did you follow the instructions for installation???
!! Is shorthand for repeating the last command. So, if you forget to type sudo then you can just run sudo !!
Also grub is bloat
I love grub - FTW!!! :P
@@techheart6090 efibootmgr all day
Thank you TechHeart! Clear and great video. The upgrade is worked beautifully on my 2017 27" iMac.
Nice - I'm still liking my fix; one important thing.. When you see update pop-ups in the future, don't automatically do them. Goto the website and check for issues with you hardware years and software version. Only upgrade if you've checked for issues.
@@techheart6090 Will do. Thanks again.
archfi did nothing thhink it gt replaced with the archinstall script
I'll have to look into that - maybe a new video for 2025 is needed.... archfi has always [historically] worked well for me. I WILL investigate, tho!!
@@techheart6090 any news? because I followed everything you did, yet when I rebooted it sent me to the installation menu again
Thanks for the input. This is actually the first time I've played with any .torrent helpers. TBH, TechHut released a .torrent stack video a day after mine and it's much better. Also, while I did use pia-qbittorrent I've since used wire guard to put ALL containers behind PIA. Thanks for the comment - might make another .torrent video...
What an awkward intro. While I can respect wanting to stick with the Starr suite, I prefer Homepage over Homarr. Also, I feel like you should have at least mentioned Jellyfin and Jellyseerr as an open source alternative to Plex that mostly "just works" and doesn't require you to pay anything and doesn't try to push ad filled streaming services. It's also a bit odd that you chose pia/OpenVPN over Wireguard. As for missing docker apps, you missed quite a few. As a bare minimum, you need FlareSolverr for Prowlarr captcha, Unpackerr for archive extraction, Lidarr for music, Bazarr for subtitles, subcleaner to remove ads from subs and Trailarr for trailers. You will probably also want Shoko for anime, Suwayomi for manga, Kavita for books, Readarr and Kapowarr also for books, Tdarr for automatic transcoding, Vuetorrent theme for qBit and qBit_manage to get around some of the limitations of the web ui. A few bonuses are Wizarr, ErsatzTV, Kodi (client) for HTPCs, Audiobookshelf, OpenBooks and cobalt downloader. This video is one of the few I've seen to go through it step by step. Oh, don't mention cobalt in a video. YubTub will absolutely take it personally.
@45:21 did you mean we have to add splash inside hooks of /etc/mkinitcpio.conf?
no splash goes in grub not mkinitcpio.
What about web reading, web kindle reading? and audio file to text?
The video title is Speech to Text, not Text to Speech, but the video content is almost all about text to speech.
You're right - sorry about that, I'll make changes.
If you watch this in in 2024, just do the Archinstall.
Enjoyed this demonstration. Installed the app. Using it a lot.
This is why I will probably never switch from KDE. I just want a default normal way to use it, with a tutorial on what key does what. What's so hard about making default configuration usable and giving you a 5 minute tutorial on how to use it.
Hyprland is NOT a 5 minute WM. I suggest to you; Linux Mint. It's great - and will get you up and running in 5 min.... Hypr is for folks w/ 5 hours.
@@techheart6090 I know it's not a 5 minute WM, so is configuring kde/gnome/xfce/cinnamon. The difference is that I know how to close and open windows, and I don't get errors that cover my screen and can't be easily hidden.
Nano is easier to use. Good tutorial. 😅
Agree, but if you just try vim for a month you'll never go back. Theres a cool 'vimtutor' that's installed with the basic vim package - it's really helpful to get started. I use neovim now, but it doesn't come with vimtutor...
@@techheart6090 Spacemacs or Neovim doe
how is this learning hyprland?? you're just running a bunch of scripts off of the internet.
Understood - I'll create some videos showing how to add all the helper apps. This might not have been for you, but I'm. interested in creating for all.
very nice i didnt knew gnome can be riced this way!
It was the Ruby on Rails developer that created OMAKUB. I really dig it... while I don't use it as a daily, it's a great setup that's being used for the Ruby on Rails team to check out Linux quickly and easily - win win!
18:03 YEEEEEAHH
Lol!!!! :P
Subscribed and looking forward for your follow up videos on these drives. I just got the same drive from serverpartdeals and im going to get more when the budget allows for it. Right now im preclearing it on unraid and looking for a reason why this deal was so good. I only see good things with the exception of people complaining sbout CS from SPD when they have a warranty claim. Thanks for making this video!
So far they have simply performed PERFECTLY. I chose TrueNAS, but I think you'll enjoy them on UNRAID too... will do more updates as the months and years pass; maybe a 6mo / 1year - and beyond. :P Lemme know how your purchases go!
I should probably do this instead of telling the cluster to only expect 1 node every single time I need to reboot both my r720 and r710. Also first comment! Boo yah!
That's exactly what made me 'need' a quorum node - I rebooted my main PVE server but was working on the NAS one - the VMs that normally auto-start hung and wouldn't boot until node 2 came online. That could be worse than NOT having a cluster IMO... the Pi 4 seems to work just fine at being the quorum node and sips little electricity - if ya got a problem, yo I'll solve it - check out the hook while the DJ revolves it!
@techheart6090 It's funny because I have the name Pi, and I was thinking what I should use it for, and then your video popped into my feed. Problem solved!
I spent HOURS looking for solutions on why I could not get Hyprland to work. Finally found this video, and it turns out I missed the capital H in Hyprlander 😭
LOL - I've been there before, temanor - trust me!! Glad you found it, tho!!!
Wonderful project!! I think the cam video popping out is firefox feature.
Its a fun one... not mine, but I enjoyed playing around with it for a bit!
I’ve downloads all of the packages but the problem is “nwg-look-bin” every time I run the script it fails 24:14 (Im very new)
Use this at your own risk, but I went into the script and edited line 74, changing nwg-look-bin to nwg-look, since that one is in the AUR, whereas nwg-look-bin 404s, and I got it working. I'm having some issues with the config file as of right now, but it is working for the most part. I assume the problems I'm having in the config are from this config being almost a year old, and some things may have changed with Hyprland since it was written... But I'm a noob, and I have really no idea what I'm doing. Learning as I go. Good luck!
You can just skip the Installation, at least that worked for me
install nwg-look (no bin part) and get rid of nwg-look-bin in the config
NixOS is short on this type of tutorial content overall so it's good this exists
Thanks - I might revisit it soon to cover FLAKES. ???
Awesome walkthrough in getting hardware passthrough to work! Managed to do this on a HP Proliant with a raid controller Just a note, vim editor was not usable in my setup? so I used nano instead. I ended up not needing to setup ssh to do the commands either. I just did it all in the proxmox node's shell. Thank you, saved me lots of time!
Thanks - it was fun getting setup. You know whats crazy??? My r320 is better than my r330 in many ways! - its also not, in other ways - but it has more RAM, more threads, and SO cheap... pretty good for a NAS system.
what did you blacklist for the raid controller? currently trying to do this with a hp microserver gen 8 in ahci mode...
@techheart6090 youtube keeps not showing my replies to my original comment so idk if you're seeing them and I doubt you are. The github repo is seanPruss/sneederland it contains my dotfiles and a script to install everything.
I initially installed arch and hyprland with Sol's repo and script but I started changing the config so much I forked the repo to put my own configs and packages in. I also stripped out some of the stuff I didn't use like light/dark mode and the rest of the hyprv_util script.
Nice - have a link or GitHub repo/name? If its current (sometimes w/ hypr updates things change...) I could do a new hyprland video using your fork??? Lemme know...
@@techheart6090 I just realized that youtube was deleting my replies because I pasted the link. The repo is seanPruss/sneederland you can try the script I added a lot more stuff in the past couple days
Does it have PCMCIA? One could use a PCMCIA CD-ROM and install Tiny Core Linux… might be better than looking for a distro with floppy support
No PCMCIA, but I was thinking of finding a SCSI card and SCSI CD-Rom drive for this exact reason... can't believe we don't have any good and simple CD-Rom current solution using SDCard/etc...
Question: why not use Tiny Core Linux?
I've tried Minix, FreeBSD and some others - but not Tiny Core jjust yet; will check into it.... I've since done OS/2, Win3.1, Desqview....
