Etude for hangover and construction noises (Elektron Digitakt) #jamuary2023
It's #jamuary!
Here is my first entry. I'm not sure I can keep it up for 31 days straight, since it takes way longer to set up, edit and upload - the boring part - than it takes to make the music. Maybe I can make it easier for myself little by little. Who knows... It's january 1st, and it might just be the hangover talking.
Happy new year

So here's the thing... A while ago, I bought a beat-up old zither for 40 euros, as a prop for my D&D character. That character had an early retirement, however, so for the past 2 years, I've had no use for this instrument... It's just been hanging there on my wall with all its rusty, impossible-to-tune strings. Laughing at me. I thought I'd at least make a little music with it, and decided to a...
A slow, granular meditation with the Organelle
Переглядів 1702 роки тому
"So what have you been up to today, Porous Moon?" Well... I struck a glass bowl multiple times with a piece of celery (by far the best sounding vegetable in my fridge), then fed it into a granular patch on the @CritterAndGuitari Organelle M, added some delay, and recorded it straight to tape... That's more or less it. Oh, and I added a synth part, but I couldn't get it in tune with the bowl, so...
Cre8audio West Pest - Exploratory jam

Jamming out and trying to find different sounds with the West Pest from Cre8audio, with a little help from a few pedals and some Valhalla reverb. Such a fun little synth, and my first taste of wave folding/west coast synthesis. Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz Electro Harmonix White Finger Boss DD-20 Boss looper
Delia Derbyshire - Dance from 'Noah' Digitakt cover by Porous Moon
Переглядів 3072 роки тому
I'm learning the Digitakt slowly and steadily by transcribing the original masters of sampling. I made this cover using only simple waveforms as sound sources, which was quite a challenge. The overdriven tape always helps, though. This little piece, Dance from Noah by Delia Derbyshire, could perhaps be the first instance of 4-to-the-floor electronic dance music, since this was produced in 1963 ...
This is hands down the best demo of the West Pest I have seen, and just an incredible song. People had mentioned it to me as a recommendation, and I thought I didn’t like the sound, until I heard this. I listen to this song on loop. It is the reason I decided to get one to play around with; the sounds you evoke are incredible, and so richly explored.
Thank you so much!
Have you released music anywhere else besides this UA-cam channel? I would be very curious to listen to more of your music if you have any more that’s out there
Nice one!
Thanks!
You used WESR PEST in the most romantic way! I only used it aggressively and destructively. The scales fell from my eyes.
A very fitting name for a new year’s day jam and an excellent vibe, love it!
Tremendous! Anyone who references the legendary Delia Derbyshire gets a sub from me.
Thank you 😊
Very cool indeed! ✌️
Thank you 😊
The more I learn about cre8audio the more I want a west pest synth or an East Beast to help me get started in building my own eurorack modular synth. I am impressed with what you can do with this. I am learning to build musical instruments like canjos, cigar box guitars, and cigar box violins. I also want to get started with my own eurorack modular synth. To that end I am looking into getting a cre8audio west pest synth. On the Yanni album “Optimystique”, track 1 is "The Sphynx", there is a pulsing 'chopper' effect, that opens the track. ua-cam.com/video/MPHg2x3t5GQ/v-deo.html I know it is effectively a Tremolo effect or an LFO controlling a VCA. Even though I have never done this myself. One of my goals in setting up a is to make myself engine sounds for model steampunk airships. Do you think the cre8audio west pest synth would be able to do such effects?
Hmm. I guess to make that helicopter sound, you would need to modulate some noise? The West pest has a noise generator, but it doesn't work so well, as a little bit of the oscillator always bleeds through, so there's always a clear note in there...
Wow, you made me dream!
Hope your dreams were sweet💫
Creepy jam; feels like the prisoner ship I'm boarded in just crashed in a porous moon
Very nice! Which "Multi" are you using to get the softer 1st sound?
Thank you! I can't remember exactly, but by the looks of it, it is synced to the internal clock, and sending quarter notes to the dynamcs controller gate in.
pretty good use of the pest 👍
Thank you!
Record a Rusty Zither sound sample pack and put it up for sale. That thing’s gold.
I don't know... It takes a looooong, frustrating time to get it in tune. I'm not sure I have the willpower to do that again...
Wow! ❤ You are the first and possibly the only person on UA-cam to actually use the West Pest as an instrument and not just do a product demo. Now I really want to buy one. Thx.
Wow, thank you so much! Anything is an instrument in my world ☺
amazing
Thank you ☺
Great jam! Love the dark vibe!
Thank you so much!
Sweet. I don't think it the West Pest doing tunes. Can I ask what the DD20 is doing here? Adding delay? I miss mine. Plugged it into the wrong power supply and fried it.
Thank you so much! The DD-20 is adding pitch-modulated delays in stereo, while the RC-3 does the looping. The lead sound towards the end was achieved with some fuzz from the Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz. I'm sorry to hear about your DD-20. I've made the same mistake before with a couple of my pedals. Sucks when that happens!
congrats and hny!
Thank you, and same to you 😌
Great performance.
Thank you!!!
Holy smokes! This was beautiful.

The Porous Moon RadioPhonic Workshop : ) Just watched your other video with the West Pest and looper, you got some great sounds from it and clever subtle working of the fm and glide controls.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm still kind of a beginner with all these electronic machines, so it means a lot 🙏
@@porousmoon1511 Cheers. . . I’m a sort of a beginner too… I bought the West Pest a couple of weeks ago, it’s my first module to fit into the Arturia RackBrute that I’ve had for about 9 months but haven’t even opened the box it’s in yet coz as well as slowly understanding modular synthesis the cost of modular gear is a bit inhibiting for me at the moment. I bought a Minibrute 2s (second hand) earlier this year, it’s a great machine for learning modular and it has a brilliant sequencer. Nice that you’re honouring the work of Delia Derbyshire, a great inspiration, I watched a documentary about her last year. Have fun with your sonic exploration. : )
@@FUNKINETIKMB2S is a fantastic machine and, like you, was my entry into the world of modular a few years ago. I’ve expanded a bit these days, also with a RackBrute but the MB2S still forms the central hub of my set up. Also, I just got a West Pest yesterday and it’s a fantastic wee thing and pairs excellently with the MB2S so I urge thee to get them fired up and get patching! Muchos fun awaits…
Nice use of the looper.
Thank you so much, kind stranger 🙏
not bad bro :-)
