Matt Dyton This is Orlando! Well done mate
In the process of buying a boat at the moment and gotta say, having been binge watching all sorts of sailing videos recently this series has been by far the best. Loved the relaxed authentic feel to it. It deserves much more views and likes. Planning to do a similar trip in about years time after getting some sailing under my belt and these videos have made me even more excited for it. Hope you guys are doing well and get back into youtube with more content.
I have just binged your entire collection and I’m wanting more! Your last video got me good 😂 I couldn’t imagine having to say goodbye to my boat like you guys did! Best of luck to you both!
Love your energy boys. Looking forward to more.
Wooo
Respect. One bit of advice. Pull your job halyard tighter and you will point higher
Respect to you guys doing it old school in a small boat. Everyone else has gone soft
Im not sure men who call dolphins a "pack" rather than a pod, and get scared asking "what do they want" should be going on any type of voyage. Even a person who has been on a ferry or has the slightest understanding of dolphins no they are called a pod and like to ride the bow of watercraft. But hey ive never owned a boat of any type and the video was entertaining regardless, the language didn't really fit your uni boy upper middle class accents though kids.
I was wake boarding out in English Channel last year and had dolphins 🐬 right next to my wake board amazing experience stay safe lads on your next adventure
Well done lads
When are you restarting the videos
We have big plans! we will be returning soon :)

Great video what boat did you use
Thanks Sandy it is a 25foot Hustler sail yacht :)
Awesome video guys. I was just wondering; how did you find out what preparations you needed to do? I'm around the same age as you guys and planning to cross the Channel with some friends on my 30ft sailing boat as well. I do have lots of sailing experience but not really sea experience. How did you guys learn how to navigate and stuff?
Vince van D hi Vince, I (Matt) went on a day skipper before we went and my brother did an engine course. Saying that, we didn’t use any of the navigation learnt in the course and we just used an app called Navionics our phone and iPad (we used this the whole way up to Spain). A lot of the people we spoke to said how dangerous crossing the Chanel we, however our experience was totally the opposite. As long as someone’s keeping a look out for boats you’ll be fine. Good luck - when you thinking of going?
@@smiler8733 Ah cool, thanks a lot for the reply! Using an app is a good idea, didnt think of that. I agree, if you watch out for ships and the weather, the crossing shouldn't be too difficult I guess. We were planning to leave this july, but haven't really made concrete plans yet. So far I cannot get my VHF license because due to the coronavirus, all exams are cancelled.. By the way, what kind of safety precautions did you guys take for the trip? P.S. Your videos are awesome, subscribed immediately
@@vusvis I'd really recommend getting navionics for your phone. I think the yearly subscription is pretty cheap and it's literally the only navigation app you'll need - even gives you speed, weather etc. We did actually buy an AIS transponder which (in theory) meant we could see other boats on the device and they could see us, however we didn't really need to use it and we still had to always keep a look out anyway. We didn't have a liferaft however we towed our tender on big legs just in case we needed to make a quick getaway and we also had a grab back ready (water, flares etc). Biggest thing probably is to make sure your VHF is working properly and has a long range just in case you need to radio a large vessel making sure they have seen you. The trip sounds great, where in the UK are you going to leave from and do you think you'll stay in France long?
Looked like a sad day, leaving Smiler, but one relieved and happy mum at the end.
truly sad indeed :( wish we were still doing it
Well done lads ,have you sold her ,look forward to the next one 👌
Great stuff guys. It makes sense to wear your lifejackets when on the water - in the dinghy as well! Take care and have fun.
Cheers mate! yes I agree :)
Nice one lads. Never ever give up.
Cheers Nick, we won't!
