❇️ I was quite impressed at your UA-cam video. I owned a specialty service company for three decades. If you need help setting up the right wording and plans, I wrote Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) for decades. The frequency of visits, the scope of work at those intervals, I.E. The changing of fluids and filter, etc. Furthermore addressing these lower cost Chinese starter batteries should be replaced at two year intervals. People are paying for RELIABILITY. Every time a generator fails, is an opportunity for a client to be upset and write a bad review. There is a mitigation tool for that. SLA’s set The priority of scheduling if something breaks. The shipment of parts overnight if we did not have what’s needed and what heavy major parts are shipped priority ground. The 24 hour phone support. Remote support. The flat rate differences in costs for weekends and after hours. You can always choose to waive these. But, if you disrupt a technician’s sleep for trying to make a client happy at 2am, these guys are around their kids who get sick and when you disrupt technicians sleep rhythm to go out on a night call, these techs get sick and the schedules back up like a freight train derailment. It’s far better to have a tech be out early first thing, fresh and in the daylight. SLA’s also should also limit your company’s liability. You don’t want a home fire subrogated back to your insurance if the generator catches fire, or the generator set has a heart attack blowing up devices, etc. The SLA revenue pays for the maintenance and service team to be in place. Not coming off an install at 4pm tired, hungry and no desire to make the call a second longer than necessary at that moment. I have a few other tricks to cut down the cost of manual billing and marketing. If this interest you, feel free to reach out. Does the fuel consumption differ between the two?

Excellent presentation! One question: what is the benefit of a delayed start? Is that for the scenario where a bunch of homeowners in one location have whole house generators, and starting them all at once… will reduce the natural gas line pressure too much? If that’s the case, then I would think that an element of random delayed start would be needed. As contrasted to a simple fixed interval delayed start. Your thoughts?

I paid 15k for a 13.5 diesel generator. I installed it. Add another 2k for delivery.

I have a building that has too small of a generator with multiple ac units. Already have 2 load shed modules. Will adding a couple hard start kits help it out?

I currently own a water cooled 27kW Generac (3.5 years). No problems with it, but it has never needed to run other than the weekly 10 minute exercises. I will be moving to a different area of Ocala Florida and will be looking for a new generator. Kohler is now top on my list. Closest Gold Kohler dealer is 46 miles away. That's my only concern.

In Baton Rouge finding Kohler parts is a huge problem. Everything has to be ordered and takes weeks.

Just wondering why I can easily power my house, approximately 2k sf, with gas wh/stove/oven/dryer, typical HVAC and of course 4 tvs and the internet, with a 13kw portable generator, but Kohler says I'll need the larger 26kw unit for $6,250 instead of the 14kw for $4,380? Metairie.

Hydraulic lifters is no good. I’ve run kohler engines in all my mowers. Always a lifter problem in one of them it seems like. But compared to the Chinese Generic that’s always broke for some reason or another I’ll take my chances. I got two family members that just bought generic in the last year. They’ve both been broke and wouldn’t start when power out. Couldn’t give me one.
