I'm learning so much by watching/listening to these videos, I don't have Spotify so I appreciate you posting the videos/podcasts here on you-tube. you are doing a fantastic job with all the info that you provide during each podcast, I live in the USA, (KENTUCKY), but would LOVE to travel to Australia some day and visit Bondi beach, Tamarama, and Bronte and meet the lifeguards who do a wonderful job rescuing those in need and making sure everyone is safe in and out of the water. Thank you for doing what you all do... I just became a first-time grandma to a now 5-month-old granddaughter, I want her to learn about first aide, water, fire safety, and also the dangers as well, as early as she can, I'd love for her to have Maxis books on water safety, etc., so I can begin reading them to her now. Am I able to purchase the books here in the USA? If so, how can I purchase them.... also a good song for your podcast playlist would be Surfing USA by the beach boys...

about smoke detectors... I have a question.... what if your bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs and a fire started down stairs ., how would you get out of the house or get to the front door to escape?

How do you know if the current is going to bring you back or is going to pull you farther and farther away from the beach?

Thanks... this is super helpful! I had never heard that rip currents move in all directions, and assumed they always went directly away from the shoreline. (So all you had to do was swim parallel to the shoreline to escape them.) The situational awareness tip is, therefore, quite helpful! One thing you might be clearer about is the allusion to sandbars. Unless people are really familiar with the ocean, they might not realize what you're saying is waves are a sign of sandbars. (I grew up swimming in the ocean and in lakes, and know that even lakes (without waves) can have sandbars.)
