    Really odd question. Is it possible to cover the hooks in silicone to prevent irritations from the metal?

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity
      @JSCreationsArtSanity 5 днів тому

      That's a good question. And, one that I don't really have an answer to. I'm sorry! I'm not sure if you could cover the hooks in silicone or not, but I probably wouldn't. There are silicone posts that can go in place of the ear wires, and that's what I would use if I had an irritation to metal. Hope that helps? Thanks so much for watching!

    How much resin do you use to fill in one color on the chess?+/checker board?

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity
      @JSCreationsArtSanity 28 днів тому

      About 5 ounces for one color. In total, I used about 18 ounces of resin not including the top coats. For all the white (pieces and board) it's about 5 ounces and that's the same for the purple pieces and board. For the glittered back it's 8 ounces. The top coats are optional (but I do recommend them because not only will it cover any flaws from the mold but it also strengths the board) and only take maybe an ounce or so per side to do that. Thanks for watching!

    I am new to the resin n mica world. I'm trying to start my own small business of Treasures. Do u hav any tips for resin mats, or heaters to use to cure the resin n mica in my molds? I hav a few tools, but I'm just not sure I'm doing it right! Plz excuse the account name my son took it over. I need to make a new one for myself.

      @JSCreationsArtSanity 2 місяці тому

      I know there are a lot of products out there to help heat your resin to make it cure faster, but I don't use any of them. I let my resin cure on it's own. You have to be very careful with those products because you don't want your resin to flash cure. You don't want to run the risk of losing the integrity of your resin. Ideal conditions are to work in a well vented climate controlled area. I know not all of us can do that, me included. It takes longer for my resin to cure during the winter months. Patience with resin really does pay off in the end. Good luck with your new business! Thanks for watching!!

    How much resin needed for 6 inch mould

      I can't tell you that because I don't know how deep your mold is. Measuring it out with water like I show in the tutorial will help you determine how much resin you will need. You also want to make sure your mold is completely dry after that because resin and water do not mix, they do not play nice together. Thanks for watching!

      I use a few different ones, it just depends on the kind of project I'm working on. I use the General Use Resin from The Epoxy Resin Store for a lot of my projects: freeforms, canvas, MDF, molds, etc. For deep pours, I use Liquid Diamonds from The Epoxy Resin Store. I also use their Tumbler Epoxy or the Glass Coat Epoxy from Mr. Nola's Glitter for my tumblers and vases. And to topcoat my coasters, I use KSResin. Thanks for watching!

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity

      I'm sorry it's taken so long to answer you, things have been crazy lately. I've been asked about that corkboard a lot. LOL. The glittered back was pretty and you can still see it around the edges and between the squares. That corkboard backing was really a last minute decision. I had it sitting there for another project and just wondered how it would work as a backing for the board. I know it's not for everyone, but I think it worked. In my opinion, you need to have some kind of backing to help protect the surface you have the board on. I've also use felt and clear rubber bumpers for backing.

    How much resin do you use on this size cup?

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity
      @JSCreationsArtSanity 4 місяці тому

      It's been awhile since I made this cup... I'm going to say approximately 100ml for this cup. Not saying that's for every cup this size because it depends on the cups design. I used chunky glitter for this one so it takes a little more resin to cover that glitter than if you used fine glitter. Hope that's helpful? Thanks for watching!

    I can't figure out for the life of me what I am doing wrong. I mix the epoxy & hardener making sure to use equal amounts. Once I stir it until it is clear, I add mica powder. At this point, it looks fine. When I begin to pour my mixture on my vase, it still looks fine in the beginning, but then it begins to get real light (very translucent), and it ends up being only one very faint color. None of the other colors are visible. Please advise. Very disappointed and discouraged. I've tried this so many times.

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity

      For vases, I've found the best way to do those is first give them a base coat. It can be white or whatever color matches the colors you're using. I use Rustoleum 2X spray paint. For me, it doesn't matter what kind of colorant I use it never comes out right unless I base coat. It will be very light, like you said, dull and just ugly in my opinion. Hope this helps. Hi, just working out the ratio and your video has been a big help, when they say 'mixing ratio of 1:1 by weight and not volume' - is that the same as the 4oz in your video? - would you just weigh 4oz (2oz/2oz each) and mix and pour and that would fill the mold of that size.

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity
      @JSCreationsArtSanity 7 місяців тому

      Yep, you've got it. A ratio of 1:1 by weight or volume just means that the total number of ounces you need just divide that in half and that's out much you need of part A and B. Thanks so much for watching!

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity
      @JSCreationsArtSanity 9 місяців тому

      Because on the first layer of this piece I was laying the foundation of what I wanted the piece to be. On the second layer, I was just trying to add a little depth so I didn't need as much resin, because I was doing a thin layer. I didn't want or need it to be as thick as the first layer. If I had then the piece would be way too heavy and bulky. On most pieces like this, your first layer is going to be a little thicker than your other layers because it's like your foundation layer and the other layers are just building onto that foundation. I hope that makes sense? Let me know..

    Why didn’t you just put a filler in the cauldron before you started to put the foam in? Like crumbled news paper towards the top. Then put the foam over that. Nobody would have known or seen a difference. But the difference for you would have been saved time & you could have saved 4 cans of foam. But it came out so cute. I bet the kids loved it. A real witches cauldron wow how cool is that. So cool!

      Thank you! Yes, the kids love it. I have a very big yard and one of the neighborhood kids' favorite things to do is "find" the witches and see what they're cooking up each year. I move them to a new place every year. Hindsight is always 20/20... if I were to make another one I would do it a little different, but I think that goes with just about any project. Your first attempt is usually always a "try" and then you learn and tweak it the next time. Thanks for watching!

      I'm not sure. Take your measuring cup fill it with water, then pour into your mold and see how much water is left in your measuring cup. Subtract how much is left to how much you had to start with and that will tell you how much you will need for your mold. Thanks for watching!

    What made u decide to epoxy over the rhinestones? Didn’t they lose their sparkle doing that?

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity
      @JSCreationsArtSanity Рік тому

      It's not that I "decided" to epoxy over the rhinestones, epoxy is just what I did. I did this cup before rhinestones really took off. I found the web at Michael's and thought "that might be cool on a cup". The black of the spider kind of got lost, but I think that's because it's on a dark base. Other than that, I think it came out all right. It looks really cool on the chameleon mica base. Thanks so much for watching!

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity
      @JSCreationsArtSanity Рік тому

      All I do is give them a quick wipe with alcohol, put on the resin, and use my finger to smooth it out and around. I just rub my finger along the edge. If for some reason the top coat gets messed up, I'll wait at least two days before lightly sanding, wipe with alcohol, and resin again. Hope that helps? Thanks so much for watching!

    • @JSCreationsArtSanity
      @JSCreationsArtSanity Рік тому

      Well... it kind of depends what you're using it for. UV resin is more expensive than regular resin. If you use UV resin in a mold it has to be a transparent mold so the light can penetrate through for the resin to cure. I usually only use my UV resin for quick top coats on small items like jewelry pieces, keychains, pens, etc.. Hope this helps? Thanks for watching!
