What is the point to allow tourists to mess around just to take a pichure and annoy horses and guards? For nearly all of them royal horses , guards and the site is like wonderland , a place to enjoy and behave like a fool monkey .

I've not seen a guard give an acknowledgement with a rub on the neck with their hand/fingers.PEople were keeping a decent amount of distance between all of them & the steed while the young girl rolled up for a complete visit with this wonderful guard, mount & amazing officer. Thank you for sharing this. = )

Penso che l’ ignoranza e la mancanza di rispetto dei turisti verso le guardie sia “pandemica” . Per questo, per rispetto verso le guardie stesse, transennerei delle zone di divieto di accesso molto più ampie ! Così restando le cose, sono le stesse istituzioni inglesi ad esporre le guardie ad essere trattate dai turisti come “soldatini di stagno “! 😢

The King's Guard isn't a place. The place shown here is Horse Guards, a historic building on the site of the main entrance to Whitehall Palace and, following the fire which destroyed that palace, became the ceremonial entrance to St James's Palace and, later, Buckingham Palace. It was the headquarters of the British Army and now houses the Household Cavalry Museum. Horse Guards Arch within it connects Whitehall, the centre of government with Horse Guards Parade, a huge military parade ground which, in former times, was where jousting tournaments took place and which is now used for national ceremonials. It forms part of the main processional route between Buckingham Palace and Westminster (the Palace of Westminster and Westminster Abbey). It is guarded by the mounted regiments of the King's Guard such as the Life Guards, tge Blues and Royals and the Royal Horse Artillery.

I’m convinced a lot of tourists think these service people are like Disneyland characters just acting a role for their entertainment, not proper serving service people doing a proper ceremonial parade and should be treated with the respect they deserve.

Those poor horses having to put up with rude people. Bad enough that the poor things have to stand in one position for so long. 😢
