Fujifilm x100F in 2024? Still a Good Camera?

Fujifilm x100F in 2024? Still a Good Camera?
Sold my first x100f to upgrade to the x100v. The x100v just never felt as nice to use at the x100f despite the better specs for me so I ended selling it. 3 years later I finally found a great deal on another x100f and I couldn't be happier. Feels like being reunited with an old friend.
Great purchase.curious what lenses you plan to pick up down the road?
ua-cam.com/video/kVYK1sAcW08/v-deo.htmlsi=lnREAOjbiCFfA7xu Idk I made this in 2021 reflecting on being a dad and thought you’d vibe with it after me watching this vid
great post,, So happy I found your youtube channel, ive been documenting my family using the fuji system for 13 years, over all so happy Ive been taking the photos ,we recently started too print 4x6 photos, otherwise it just sits on a hard drive, or posted on social media, Were hoping santa gets us that aura digital frame, how are you finding the fuji 100f? to me the size of gear is key when documenting family and a camera you enjoy shooting with is agame changer, I've been using the xt2 paired with 23 and 33,and im loving it, feel no reason to upgrade to the latest and greatest. hope to hear back, all the best to you and your family, enjoy family time.
Make Super 8 popular again!
Have you ever considered starting a private family blog? This is a project that has been on my mind for awhile now and I thought if anyone is doing anything like this, it is probably you!
I haven't, but I create my own private family archive of videos. But a blog is a great idea as well!
This sounds great for family outings and the like. we don’t have any camera (apart from our phones) - and looking into getting something for the classic home movies. Would you recommend this one for all purpose (set up in the corner to record Xmas morning AND family outings), or more of a typical camcorder for “family videos” at home?
So this one has some great features that make it great for filming family. If I was to recommend one camera though I'd go with the DJI Pocket 3. A little more pricy but I think its a more well rounded camera (I've got other videos on this camera). The big concern I have with the GO 3s is the record/run time, so for things like recording Christmas morning you may struggle to get it all unless you use the interval filming mode!
Thanks for replying! Just getting into video and appreciate your content!
Congratulations!!!!!
Thanks!
Great video! Picked one of these up for vlogging and real estate videos and I am blown away by the quality. Told my Canon m50 to kick rocks. I use my ND filters quite often since I shoot outdoors. I also picked up an Ulanzi MT-79 tripod since it’s so portable and stretches over 6 feet - I use it a lot more than I thought I would when shooting solo or as my main tripod for podcast. Thanks again for the video
Glad you enjoyed the video and are enjoying the camera! Its a great one!
Congratulations Zach!!! 🥳
Thanks brother!
Great video, love my x100f! Would love to hear what recipe you use that you said is close to your preset 😊

I cant find anywhere on UA-cam how to fade in and fade out music. I think i got fadein but fade out isn't working 😮.

I love the content i do a lot of photos of my kids
Thank you! Glad to have you a part of the community!
996 SUBS! GREAT VIDEO
Thank you!
When I go to export I get a error that the memory on tablet is full. I tried deleting as much as possible but still same error; it exported at first. Suggestions?😊
I have always done that with my kids. My question now is what do I do with them now. I use to put them all together into a yearly review. I had made them using iMovie and saved them to iTunes once complete. We have Apple TV so it's easy for the family to watch them that way, but is there a way the kids could watch them on their iPads or phones? Does iTunes or Apple TV have an app to watch them on those devices? Please help me to figure out what is the best way to share them with the family instead of only using the Apple TV on our TV. Thx.
? Can u recommend a macro lense for this camera. Very informative video. Thank you.
Thank you! I unfortunately have never tried any Macro lenses. I've seen a few out there but haven't had a use for them. I do wish someone would make a conversion for something more like a 50mm but oh well...
Great vid! I’ve had the pocket 3 for a few months and I always wondered what the slot on the case was for. Lol. The mimo app makes this thing op.
Thank you! Yeah the Mimo app is AMAZING!!
Great video! Picked up a Pocket 3 because of your earlier video - Got a great deal from Costco. The black mist filter interests me most for the dual benefit of protecting the lens and for the smoothing. I’m still trying to find a quick and easy way to compile the videos I shoot. Mimo app is nice, but I frequently feel like I have to fiddle a lot to get the videos where I want them. Maybe you could do a video on how to shoot video best for use in the Mimo app. I gravitate towards shooting longer videos, but I feel like the Mimo app lends itself more to shooting more short videos since the templates only grab a few seconds from each clip.
Really? Thats awesome! Yes love that black mist filter! I do have a video on how I edit my videos not in the Mimo app, ua-cam.com/video/2V7_7bC9Cys/v-deo.html When I edit on the Mimo app its more so for a quick and dirty video
This was awesome, Ty for the info! Would you be able to share how you use this camera for weddings? I’m looking to purchase it as another camera for the wedding day and would love to know how you use it!
I don't use it too much on wedding days. When I do use it, its more of a BTS camera for my own sake. Or I will give it to the bridal party to be a BTS camera for them and then I just edit all that content into a long form old school home video style for the couple. I only have ever used it in the actual wedding video for maybe 2 or 3 shots when I simply needed a much wider angle.
I wish it could connect to android devices, its impossible with my s24u
I'm connecting and using on my XIAOMI POCO , try again, good luck 🤞
Hello do recommend the Pocket 3 for sports/action movies of my grandchildren? Thanks
It depends. If you plan on using it from the sideline it could be good. It will be a wide angle which would probably be good for sports. You could probably even put it on a tripod and use the subject tracking to track your grandkid. If you were thinking of putting the camera on them like an action camera I personally would be worried about it breaking.
You got me at “Don’t open the back door while rolling” -Love your wife that first bonded with you over that’s what she said jokes
What do you mean? I thought everyone brought their tilta ring when going trick or treating 😂😂😂 I think a video would be either telling us or better yet, bring your wife in a vid and tell us her perspective. Cuz some people may relate to the disconnect between gear costs and the “hold on lemme get my mirrorless” than just enjoying a moment. Among the other things being a freelance filmer + dad/husband
Haha not a bad thought! Thank you, I appreciate that perspective!
Do any have the ability to pause recording or display time stamp of date/time during recording or playback? I really enjoy watching my old home videos from when i was a kid and seeing a date/time and one continuous recording (with pauses) as opposed to a bunch of tiny clips. I would like the same feeling as I use the camera to create my own home videos for my child. Is there a camera you recommend for this? Ideally I’d want pause recording and a time stamp display in a camera.

When it comes to timestamping, I'm not sure. It typically add that in when editing but I don't know of a camera that puts it in when filming like the old school cameras.
I just ordered an iphone so I can use for my osmo pocket 3
I think as long as you are excited, you should talk about it as it will give you excitement to pursue YT. There are different type of dads and moms that have a lot of gear and are interested to learn to do better. This panel for example will allow dads that want to perfect on LR and accelerate their edits when they take 400 soccer pictures for example.
I've been shooting Super 8 since I was a kid in the late 70s. My grandfather would hand the camera to me to film the family get-together. I have to say I like the look of weddings on Super 8. As a person who has shot weddings on Video (VHS & Hi8) a 2 hour video of a wedding gets boring years later. Looking back at family Super 8 weddings. 1 or 2 rolls were perfect. My grandfather would capture the couple walking in the church, part of the service, the wedding party walking out the church, and the dance after. Last year I shot my cousins wedding on Super 8, it was perfect since it was outdoors & sunny. I use Ektachrome 100D. I am still using my old family camera a Bell & Howell XL-20T. It's cheap, but it's simple to use and focus free. It's a fun / expensive hobby. At this point, I am only shooting maybe 1 or 2 rolls a year. I sent my Super 8 to get processed at the Film Photography Project. They all seem to be scanned perfectly.
Honestly as much as I like film I can’t bring myself to shoot any. For many of the same reason you talk about. I do shoot instant film. But instant film is a different beast. Just one purchase, no extra cost for shipping, development or chemicals. Take the photo and you have the picture. As far as getting a film “look” I’m happy emulating film with presets. I know it’s not the same thing but it’s close enough for me. I even have an Olympus om-1 and 50mm 1.4 passed down to me by my father. Still have the receipts, original packaging and everything. That camera sits on a shelf to serve as a reminder of my dad.
I started watching your channel because you're a dad who's into making content, and I am too. Anything you're into, I would also be into. Even though I'm not a professional videographer, I would be interested to hear your thoughts on video and editing gear like that Logitech tool, because maybe it's something I would want to try out to see if it helps with my own editing of photos and videos of my family. I don't think you need to worry about a specific audience or limiting the content you provide. Make videos that you think are interesting and fun, and people who are like you will also find them interesting and fun.
Thank you I appreciate that!
Good review
I have been enjoying your channel for a while now. I find that part of being a father means less time for hobbies and more time with the family. For that reason, I would love to see more content that I can refer back to for quick how-to / guides on photography/videography tailored towards family content and not much time. For example, I have a TON of videos on both my DJI and my GoPro that I simply haven't gotten around to editing. It's all just sitting there because it's intimidating to learn the best way to export, store, save and edit all the content. Same with editing content from multiple devices into a single video. How to spend enough time to make something you want to revisit but not too much time that is simply not there.
You’re in FW?! Hey neighbor! We live maybe a mile or so from that park. I’m a local pro photographer. Well, kinda semi retired from it (25 years is a long time and a whole lot of photos).
Wait, did I see someone else comment that you mentioned Fujifilm? Are you a Fuji shooter too? We should meet up!
In my opinion, you could do both. We have somewhat similar channels, focusing on fatherhood, family and photography/videography. I have an upload pattern I follow extremely loosely. Every 1-4 videos or so I’ll do a review of a camera, lens or something else I’m using. Maybe a tutorial video. The videos in between those are family documentary videos. Of course the family videos I post don’t do well compared to the gear reviews. But what can you do? People like stuff. Just how it is. Edit: congrats on exceeding your subscriber goal!
There are a lot of people doing the tech stuff already on YT. I subscribed because I didn't find anyone that was dedicated to family photography/videography as a dad. I think that is your niche that you can grow and continue to work on. As far as the topics, think about what non-pro dads out there are trying to accomplish and the challenges they have. I think you can bring your pro experience and provide solutions/ideas for us who don't work in the field. Here are some examples: - Planning your son/daughter birthday (or whatever family event, we got holidays, thanksgiving..): you can cover everything from shot list or must capture moments, to poses, where to take pictures, etc.... how to capture food with poor lighting, etc... - Day at the park: how do you work out the lighting with constantly moving toddlers. how to capture a sequence to describe the day... - When to focus on video vs. when to focus on taking photos with practical examples. - Creative ways or reminders to ensure you are in the picture as a dad and as the person who is always taking the picture Ultimately, we (all the dads) are doing this to capture memories so we and our children can enjoy and remember these moments in the future. So give us tips on how to achieve it, not only how to capture, but how/when to edit photos without much effort since we are busy. How to make a simple edit of all the videos so we can watch one clip instead of 10 short ones but you explain how to do it minimalisticly or more efficiently since we are not looking to achieve the best edit, but rather an edit that will get the job done with the lease amount of time and effort. Thanks for doing what you do and I hope this was helpful.
I feel this^ lots of interesting ideas here I'd def watch!
I subscribed to you because I am a father and I am looking for ways to capture my children’s lives so that they have something to look back on. This could mean anything from film to photo to even written letters. I personally don’t care too much about the product reviews unless it pertains to fatherhood. Vlogs are fine though. Hope this helps!
Thank you, I appreciate your perspective and those are some great video ideas!
I like both things. I am the same. I film family life because I want to keep them for posterity but I also love the creative process of filming, editing and sticking on UA-cam. Your advice is helping to improve my videos so please keep doing both.
Hey thank you! I appreciate that encouragement, it really helps!
Thanks for sharing your video and being so real with us! I’ve learned a lot from your content, and I’m definitely your target audience. I’m all about home movies-just capturing family moments. I’m not a pro editor, and honestly, the thought of editing stresses me out. But I still want to pull together good footage for my family. I’ve been looking into Adobe Premiere Essentials because the AI features seem perfect for someone like me. I love the idea of dropping all my clips into a timeline and having AI help create something cohesive, like what Apple does, but with more control and support for footage from different devices. More guidance on quick, easy editing would be amazing since I don’t have much time to spend on it. I’m also experimenting with a Pocket 3 and Sony FDR-AX700. I film a lot indoors, and the Sony’s been fantastic in low light. It got me wondering about older full-frame Sony cameras, like the FS5. I’ve seen some used options around $1,500, and I’m geeking out over the possibility of leveling up my low-light performance. But I’m hesitant because of the autofocus issues compared to newer models, which is something I really rely on. For me, being able to quickly edit by dropping a lot of footage into a timeline or tool that could create a great supercut-something I can go back and tweak further-would be amazing. I wonder if Premiere Essentials’ AI can do that. And as I mentioned, I’m really geeking out on cameras. I’ve never used a full-frame video camcorder, but if I can significantly improve low-light performance, I’d love to try it out. Those are some quick thoughts-I have more, but I’ll need time to collect them!
Thank you for the comment! The Ai editing would be a good one! I don't use it all that much but I can for sure look more into it and see what I can learn and share! Also that does give me an idea about maybe a video on getting better low-light shots without a low-light camera!
You may be surprised. I am a dad. I am not a professional photographer. I wouldn't admit it to my wife, but I probably have more camera equipment than most professionals. The majority of what I use it for is filming my family. Most people that are interested in filming/photography are interested in the equipment, the how to, even the why. The subject matter of what they film is relative to the individual.
Yeah I guess that's true, I didn't really think about that! Thank you for that!
I like the look of your office WAY more than the studio! I watch your content for you more than your topics. I’ve dabbled on UA-cam for 3 yrs and you’ve done GREAT at growth and consistency. I’m not qualified to give advice, but I say, do what excites you and the excitement will bleed through. Maybe buckets/pillars of content. Make one for the filming fatherhood niche, the next for you, and back and forth.
Hey man! Thank you for that advice and encouragement! And I appreciate hearing you like the office! I'm planning on filming on office/studio tour here in the next couple of weeks!!
Go 3 and a $200 Sony HD (zoom!) camcorder together gather all the content I'll ever be able to deal with.
Awesome content!10:40 dang it's been 2 months and I never knew about this ability to use the case to toggle from interval recording to standard shutter-button recording and then back to interval. How did I miss that?
Haha I feel like its easy to miss! Glad you know it now!
Hello how are you, I'm from Brazil and I'm using Google translate to ask this question, if there are any errors it's Google's fault lol, my question is, which model of iPad do you use? There is no list on the DJI website for a compatible iPad, I want to buy an iPad exclusively to use with my Osmo 3.
This video was very helpful thank you very much and your videos are amazing. You convinced me to get the Pocket 3 to record family gatherings and vacations lol.
Why not both? I have the Luma for my Professional work with 3 lenses and a body, then the Jumper carries my youtube channel equipment.
Hey if you can swing both go for it! I love them both and find myself switching between them often!
thanks for your vids, going on holiday soon with the fam so need to know what cameras to take, your videos help, nice one👍
Glad it could help!
The variety of textures in the kislux pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
