In the video above, we show how we use hot mix (or dry slaking) method to make lime mortar in our Permaground RasJebal Farm, to build the stone stemwall of our cob house, following these steps : 1 / We place 1 volume of non-hydraulic crafty quicklime stones within a circle of 3 volumes of damp coarse sand. 2 / We add 1 volume of water in the center. 3 / We draw the sand rapidly over the quickli...

Kinect-based touch interaction with retro-projected screen. This demo augment a projected screen and or a nearby table (as a giant touch pad). Distance from the surface is used in interaction (width of line). Bi-manual/ multi-finger gesture are used for scrolling. Unlike most kinect cursors demos : - interaction with a vertical surface, wall-based screen. - interactions are 2.5D. Through TUIO, ...

    I slake all my putty needs from well 'kibbled' quicklime and how can this be a dry slake? Slaking is still a wet slake but stuff we saw in the film was a poor quality quicklime, there was no bubbling and great heat, perhaps it's old stuff. At the end Sofiane said it was ready when it was still unmixed, you could see the sand, the builder was also very slow and pretty inept.

      @@kierenboimufc5940 becaue they need a big market for their product ( cement ). So they have to band.

      This is Britain's old method too. The cement age started around the time you said, but I doubt that Britain banned lime. Any proof?

    • @drsantoshsinghrathore9308
      @drsantoshsinghrathore9308 5 років тому

      There was no ban. All the buildings in villages here were build with lime not with cement. Use of cement is very recent development here, say 20 years or so.

    its such a good little video. It makes me laugh, this hot lime is far superior to manufactured hydraulic limes which they will charge you for. What a crazy world. instead, relatively cost free, just go to the beach and collect some sea shells and heat them in a coal furnace to 900deg and collect lime and mix with aggragate (salt free), approx 1 part quicklime:3 parts sand by volume. oyster shells should be avoided as they can accelerate the setting (known as pozzolans) of the hot mix (only use in winter, 10% by volume of quicklime maximum). you can also make lime putty plaster from the quicklime, so again no need to pay for expensive lime putty plasters.

    • @polespinosa4858
      @polespinosa4858 6 років тому

      Jason Fallon but... Isn't pozzolan (Roman concrete) superior? Also I think that high slaking water temperatures as well as aging reduces particle size and thus improves physical properties of the concrete.

      how can i have a water proof leak proof water tank in the earth using lime,rock powder(river sand not available here,or rock sand

    • @sof2300
      @sof2300 6 років тому

      @Pol Espinosa, yes, I believe it is, if you can hydrate you lime and let it in water for 5 years, it will improve greatly, but it will have less self healing properties than quick lime mix.

      @sof2300 6 років тому

      @ABBA K, look into tadelaqt recipe, adding marble powder and brick powder to the sand quicklime. I don't know if you can substitute sand by rock powder.

      "... and heat them in a coal furnace to 900deg ..." Yea, I'll go out and buy a coal furnace JUST for this purpose. Maybe I'll find a used one on eBay.

    good show old bean.....shows what a man can do on his lonesome......romans used pumice or crushed brickdust to waterproof......and tallow in the lime as you slake it works......think no u-tool shop for miles and you CAN work it out.....all you need to do now is get a tune going with your log like the old arab coffee crushing tradition.....happy heratige hunting.

    Good video the information is accurate but it's funny to see you without even a mixing Pail. Or a mixer or a wheelbarrow. But I one of like it also at the same time. These teqniques of building require skill and hard work not tooling.

    Thanks for the comment, but it is not a drainage, the plastic is there to prevent the roots from going into the polluted soil. You can get rid of the plastic if your soil is not polluted. In our case, in an old industrial area of copenhagen, it was polluted. If you have an alternative material, it would be nice to know for the future.

    Hi, sorry I didn't see your comment before, I am not working on that for a long time. The code is available, you can see how fingers are detected, did you give it a try? Only a bit of filtering is done on 2D picture of kinect, before basic finger shape detection is made, easily as kinect is already at 90° of the screen. Good luck
