I generally have fitting problems with bunions/wide forefoot of my right foot. Might an RS MV work for me, despite the tighter fit overall? Or will I be better off looking at the Shadow (I suppose I just have to try both). Unfortunately a real problem finding RS's down here in the DC area. My main ski shop doesn't carry them, just Shadows.

Great review, important info on the fit and performance of the boots. 1 of the few that helped me in my decision to go with the new Shadow's. I just received my new Lange Shadow 130 LV 28.5. I've been skiing Lange boots for about 6yrs now. I started with the 2018 XT LV and, from the get, the boot fit my foot absolutely perfect. I moved up to the 2022 XT3 to match with my Duke PT bindings and they felt just the same, tight and secure without squeezing my feet. I've been sold on Lange since. My new Shadow boots look and feel amazing, they really look good....in my living room. I wore them for about 2 hours while doing to chores around the house yesterday morning. I like a nice secure fitting boot but, I also have bad blood circulation in my toes and fingers. Lange boot's seem to afford me the best of both worlds and, from what I can tell, the new Shadow takes that to a whole new level. I will come back and update this post after I get them on the snow. It could here be sooner then we think, Killington is projecting a Nov. 1st opening day. I've skied their opening day for the past 5yrs. Thanks again for the info.

I just bought the Lange RS 130 LV. They look just like these, but I don’t know if it’s the 2025 or not. They seem pretty great though, can’t wait to try them out this season

Been waiting for an update -- thx for the review. Relatively strong skier who has put in a lot of miles over the yrs but getting up there in age (61) -- I am 6'1" at 235 pounds (athletic build). I am looking for versatility in a ski and since this ski is on the heavy and flat side/more directional/carve-oriented etc, I'm thinking it might be advantageous to go with something shorter rather than longer as far as skier fatigue and versatility (trees/bumps etc).. I tried the 177 in the M6 at Schweitzer and I was surprised by how fast it went without any kind of vibration/instability but that doesn't mean I'm not curious to try the 184 as far as this update? Thoughts?

Honestly not a fan of the pivots. Hard to get on in powder and often develop play in the binding. Spx always gives a firm snap and always feels rock steady!

Would you put that S/10 in a similar category as a Kastle MX 75? Soudmnd similar on paper. Mid 70s, not really race inspired. Little bit of versatility.... Put them in the cage!

Very much enjoy your review videos and the variety of skis you profile… Could you look at your audio as the volume has to be ramped up to hear the presenters, but with that comes the background music loop which dilutes the audio… There is such a distinct difference in audio volume when you shift to the guest outros and their audio is always louder. Looking forward to more videos for sure 👍

Good point...i assumed this was a tweener ski for intermediates. Would like to see a cage match against the Stance 84. (Also great in the bumps)

I absolutely love my Deacon 84's (182cm), here in New England mid 80's under-foot is a great daily driver width. I think it actually has a wider operating range on-trail versus the Kendo 88 because the Deacon 84 is superior on firmer conditions while also being good in softer conditions. K88 obviously has the edge off-trail and in bumps. I see far too many skiers on wide (95-105mm) skis and they never really go off-trail, I think they'd have more fun on a narrower ski.

I love Head skis. My wife and daughter love the Joy's. I have the Magnum and my son has the Shape 10. I am very interested in this improved line. Could go e-Original or Titan. Will have to think on this. Thanks for the great review.

Quite a bit of tail rocker for a 78. I cant think of any other 78s with that much tail rocker. Very interesting. Any direct comparisons you can think of? Also tail is pretty tapered, but then goes flat at the end. Seems pretty unique

Would you say day the 80 is the better choice forba smaller advanced skier? 5'5 160 lbs...I've had mixed results with carving skis. Love Mx 75, but didn't get along as well with the k2 disruption series and the older Vantage

I just bought some Montero AX's with Strive 13D's but haven't mounted yet. Is there a way to eliminate the "demo" portion of the binding before mounting?

I hate to sound so focused on color/graphics, but that turquoise blue Ranger 84 is really nice.

Can you elaborate on the differences in handling, feel, or skill (not the physics of waist width)? You said they handle quite differently relative to their similar specs on paper? If you already owned either the Kenja 88 or Secret 96 (and love it) are these skis different enough to warrant owning both? Or is it just not worth it to buy two of the "same ski", given that the breadth of options in the 88 mm and 96-98 mm space?

In the 1980's I had some Dynamic VR27 SL skis with Look 99 RS bindings with the back facing brake on the toe. I credit those skis and binding combo in really progressing my skiing. They were a fantastic ski/binding setup in those days and I'm amazed to see the pivot style binding is still around these days. I'm skiing Salomon Shift's these days for a bit of back/side country touring or System Markers. So I think you could do a backcountry/alpine version of the Look pivot like Salomon Shift or Marker Duke.
