    It's funny I stumbled on this, was talking to my partner about this deck and how much it meant to me as a kid, I used to skate growing up and me and my friend would pretend we were sponsored by element. I'd always pick element decks on the tony hawk games as well. I don't skate anymore but I feel like I owe it to my childhood self to go and buy this, I would love to try and pick it up again but I wasn't even very good as a kid haha, it's still always been a part of my life though. Nice vid man, subbed

      Mate I was just the same, always used this board on the video games, rode element boards pretty much exclusively. Loved it. Yeah riding this one was such a nostalgia trip, I had a big smile on my face every time I looked at it. Been trying to convince my wife to let me hang one on the wall 😂 not going well. I’d say just go for it skating wise mate, I’ve never been good but I just enjoy it and I think now I’m older I can appreciate the time on my board more. Thanks for following along it’s very much appreciated.

    I’m with you Kieran, it can be very frustrating, I have really gone off the boil in the last 7 months or so. I have not been putting the effort in and have not progressed much at all!! Feels very debilitating! I had a two year period when I joined UA-cam at the same time as you where I progressed so much and now I can’t seem to progress, in fact I have gone backwards and can’t do the things I did! It feels like I’m just maintaining some of my tricks and losing lots! Age is catching up with me too. I find I do t even bother to film as who want to watch me trying to bs flip again. Like you my UA-cam is mainly a log of my skating for my own ends, I’m amazed anyone wants to watch me whack out the same standard slappies! I hold hope in the fact that there are peaks and troughs and that if we just keep rolling for fun things will happen🤞Always like checking your channel as it’s so relatable. Keep going and I’ll keep going…. Deal??? 😂

      We’re on the same trajectory mate, feel like for those first two years I was the same, bashing out new stuff left right and centre. Now I’m fighting the same old stuff. No point us stopping now though right. Skateboarding with yer da said the same thing, looks like all three of us are in the trough 😂 I’m sure all of us have been on here the same length of time. I’m just going to keep plugging away, strip it back to the basics and enjoy myself. And I’ll watch you do slappies until the earth stops spinning mate, you inspire me so much bud.

    • @KieranClarkSkates
      @KieranClarkSkates 22 дні тому

      Mate it’s such a weird thing to ride on, it really hurt my knees because it gives when you pump. I’ll have a good look at it but I honestly think I’d rather drop in on a wooden ramp that size 😂 James really enjoyed playing on that resin ramp, it’s right next to a half pipe that’s almost vertical so I might get some knee pads and a decent helmet and starting playing with that whilst he’s on it. Planning a return journey soon so I’ll do a proper tour of it so you can see what I mean.

    Great to see you again as I’ve missed your vids over the past few weeks. For what it’s worth I enjoy watching whatever direction your sesh has gone so no pressure in making an edit and having to have something newly learnt. You’re one of the original few people I subscribed to and you have been a huge influence on my skating . I only started my channel when I found out I was going to be a grandad or gramps as I chose to be called. I’m 48 on Saturday and still feel like everyone else’s sesh and edits are better and they are having more fun which I know I know Is stupid as we are all at different levels yet all here for the same love of skating. I sometimes wish I could just go and skate without the need to take my GoPro and have to edit up and then constantly look at UA-cam to see if I have any interest from anyone which in a way is needing to be excepted by the skate community. I only came back 7 years ago after 25 off so missed out on so much of the skate scene when raising my 3 now grown up kids. I’m really pleased you opened up and I found this vid very inspiring and I’m sure there’s plenty of folks out there having similar personal battles. Try and enjoy your skating as you absolutely kill it and whether it be an edit, short, skating or chatting, I enjoy watching it and I know so do many others dude 👊🏻

    No worries man I am also a father I have 2 teenagers and struggle to find time to skate, with work and being a father it is so hard to find time to do anything let alone to get in a sesh. As far as your health that's the most important thing not just for skating reasons but mostly for those babies of yours (for the record) I struggle as well, my weight has been on a roller coaster ride ever since I hit 30 and I am 54 now, currently on a down swing went from 226 to 196 but it took a year, so don't feel like you are alone, with a little hard work you'll get back to where you want to be. Cheers dude flailing is definitely more realistic, the problem is I tend to be a miserable sod at the moment when it’s happening and I don’t want anyone to have to watch that. This video is really me saying im just going to focus on having fun and put out stuff that makes me smile. Cheers for the support dude.

    Keep it fun, don't worry about progression. I really struggle with progression, and often I'll go out and skate with one goal in mind, which is normally to land a trick that I've already done. The other day it was ollie to manual. Yesterday it was stand up front side grind, I didn't get it, but had fun trying and landed some other tricks. keep posting, I always enjoy your videos. And show me how to back side flip! Dream trick, that I've never landed.

    Always nice with a little flat ground session! About not having the time to get out skating and uploading frequently, I totally get it. Do it at a rate that works for you, without putting any negative pressure on yourself to deliver. About the weight issue, I think it's really smart that you are adressing it because I have seen soo many friends disappear from skating simply because they have gotten too heavy to be able to enjoy skating. Skating is hard on the body as it is, without the extra weight. I personally think that exercise to keep weight off is a losing game, if one is not changing the things in life that leads to that extra weight in the first place, and for that I think a good diet is key. I am not talking about a temporary diet where you stay off carbs for a couple of weeks, I am talking about totally changing the habit of the way you eat and drick, forever. A couple of years ago, I decided to shred some weight. I wasn't overweight or anything, I just wanted to be more lightweight to help my skating. I stopped eating breakfast. That switch took a couple of days to get used to. It gives me 10-20 extra minutes each morning that I can keep sleaping before getting to work, and it means less input of calories. That change alone caused the weight to start to drop very quickly. Sedond, I quit eating candy and drinking sodas. It's basically just processed sugar, I don't need that shit in my body. Third, I quit alcohol, at least more or less. I can go out and have one bear, but that's pretty much it. If I would suggest ONE thing though, it's dropping breakfast. Take a cup of coffee or a glass of water and begin the day with lunch. That alone can make a big difference. I am breakfast free since two years now, and I don't miss it. Exersice is good, but I think it's easier and more efficient to change ones diet. You also have the best motivation in the world. The better we take care of ourselves, the longer we can hopefully keep skating! <3 Best of luck man!

      Cheers Magnus this is awesome advice. It’s definitely my diet that needs the most work and that’s where I’m putting my focus. The extra exercise is because I feel less athletic, for lack of a better term, than I have at any point in my life. I’ve been heavy for a while but I’d always done enough exercise that I still felt fit and strong but since that’s faded i can really feel the difference. I’m still putting my focus on diet to get the weight off and then trying to find ways to rebuild that fitness on the side. Appreciate your support and excellent advice mate.

    5:50 is basically a description of my channel. Putting your skating on UA-cam is a funny old game. Hope you keep just doing what makes you happy.

      It is indeed mate, it’s very rewarding though because the community is so supportive. This video is really me reminding myself just to enjoy it, especially as I’m struggling so much with it at the moment. Thanks for watching mate.

    That foot position is wild. Looks like youve got the flip down pretty good. Time to start practicing with your foot at less of an angle. I learned backside flips and half cab flips with that same foot positioning because it was easier to get a consistent flick while rotating. Now my foot is pretty much fully on the board like a regular kickflip. Helps balance and control a ton. Nothing wrong with learning things one way to get the basic concept down and then changing it for better control.
