What an amazing story! I just looked to see if there was a biography or Ron Shock book. There is not. That's a shame. Somebody needs to document all his stories and make a book and movie.

Excellent point. I think that the comics should pool their resources together and do it.

4:30 "on that day, the students-- of which I was far and away the oldest..." I'm 40, and I live in L.A. It's often the case with me. I hate that sh^t. I also hate, "you have kids, right?" If I had kids I wouldn't live in this fu(king city, dingbat. RIP, Ron. Brilliant man.

That is a very good question. He was one of the best comics and prolific comics I've met. More importantly he was a very intelligent and sweet man. Some would argue he launched in the shadow of Bill Hicks. While Bill was a force, so was Ron. A beautiful man who lived a very colorful life and brought laughter to uncountable masses. I miss him. Thanks for asking.

+Lvillemartinishot I am from England, a good friend of mine years ago introduced me to Bill Hicks and he changed my life. I have read books on him, bought everything i could of his and by all accounts he really did love Ron and you can see why. Both funny in their own right. I wish i met both. I just realized something crazy. Not all that long ago i lived in Amarillo Texas. I was married to a Texan lady and it went south lol. So knowing that Ron grew up there is a small world for me. I would of loved to have met him and see him perform. A very naturally gifted storyteller and comedian. Thank you for these vids. They are really great to watch and learn

No, thank you! Every time someone relates how these two touched our lives is a celebration and a validation of what tremendous talents they were. I've been fortunate to meet some of our greatest comedians and believe me they made me laugh onstage and off. They are some of the smartest and sometimes the saddest people I know. It's a hard life. They are a very rare and precious breed. Again, cheers mate, thanks for remembering Ron and Bill's legacy.

@@quaid667 I like this thread. I also discovered Ron through Bill Hicks legacy and am grateful for it. He and Bill have such great charisma's that I feel sad that I never got to meet them. Thanks for the upload and though this may not be the biggest section of UA-cam I feel it's one of the best.

Ron should had been a huge star in comedy. He is a hell of a lot better than most of the current famous comics we have today.

Thank you for these snippets of Ron's storied life. Having had the pleasure of hanging out with Ron, you managed to get a true feel for the man. Ron is currently fighting for his life at MD Anderson here in Houston, losing him will be a devastating blow to those of us who have used him as both an escape and a touchstone for the vagaries of life and the human experience. "Have a drink, smoke a joint, f*** a stranger. We're all gonna die anyway". Ron Shock, Words to live by. Thank you Ron!
