Broken Pontiac G8 shifter pin and lever for key stuck in ignition issue
This one of the causes for the key stuck in ignition issue for a Pontiac G8 after you have ruled out all electrical issues such as the R8 relay. If your mirrors and sunroof are working then it is not the relay. You will notice this problem if your car is in park, your foot on the break, but the ignition switch will still not turn all the way off. This was a slow failure for me because sometimes the pin would catch the lever but it became worse and worse where the lever was always below the pin and the key was stuck with my car still "on" which will drain the battery (disconnect the black battery terminal in the trunk if that happens). You have to disassemble the center console and shifter knob to get to this. Note that the little white plastic hook is controlled by the foot brake.
In this video you can see that the pin does not always catch the lever. The flat lever has to be ABOVE the little round metal pin or it will not engage the solenoid and allow you to release the key. To fix this you have to push the pin over so it engages the lever better, and you can try to add some glue to make sure the lever does not move again for a long time (but do this with a syringe to avoid a mess). I used super glue because it's easier to work with, but you might have a better adhesive such as epoxy, but keep in mind that might be tackier and thicker and harder to work with and you don't have a lot of wiggle room to apply.

This is a fix to the key stuck in ignition issue after you have ruled out all electrical issues such as the R8 relay. If your mirrors and sunroof are working then it is not the relay. This is just from the key not releasing in park gear even with foot on brake and pressing the shifter button. mad men - roger sterling bribes harry to change his office

roger sterling bribes harry to change his office. This scene had me laughing so hard and was one of the best scenes in the fifth season.
For anyone wondering Harry made 11.000 dollars for just giving his office
He's got a point about needing to see TV network clients "ringside". This was the golden age of wining and dining clients and the firm would pick up the cost.
-ok, then you are oweing me -No! I'm not! I just gave you a lot of money!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“I did”
$1100 was the equivalent of months salary after tax even all the way back then?
Everyone misses this part of the scene, but Harry really took that advice about being out there jet-setting to heart. This is the point in the series where he started down the road to becoming a media mogul and total asshole.
Wasnt worth it. Offices with no windows are insane asylums. Its like being locked in a closet. Give it a month of full time work in there and youll go nuts.
“So this is every month?” 😂😂😂
I love how equally confused they both are 😂 Harry: You HAVE to hear my side of it Roger: ...? Your side of what?? 😂
Every time someone says “Why do you carry so much cash..?” I just think, “He’s using that cash RIGHT NOW. THIS is why he carries so much cash.”
“I don’t wanna hear that” lmao John Slattery’s comedic timing is impeccable
I just LOVE how Roger instantly changes his tactic after Crane says William Pailey. He clearly did not expect Crane to mention a prominent name, so he changes the angle and strokes Crane's ego instead by saying "you're too good to be in this office then" in a heartbeat. Roger may have inherited the business, but no one other than Don can sweet talk as fluently as him.
Life saver ❤
Glad the video helped. There wasn't anything that showed the internals so thats why i posted. It was the cheapest fix for a major issue (free) but it was a hassle disassembling the center console, shifter assembly and putting it back together.
That's more than a thousand harry
“So this is every month?” “GET OUTTA MY OFFICE!”
Love that show. Wish I could see more and more new content. Brenda
"OK...So...You shouldn't do that." LOL!
FYI William Paley grew CBS into the giant it still is.
Honestly, I bet Roger probably laughed after the fact at Harry's chutzpah at asking if "this is every month."
"Okay so, you shouldn't do that." Fucking hilarious.
"So we do this every month?"
This is one of the funniest scenes in the whole series
In 2024 that same 1100.00 is about 10,600.00.
A month's salary and no taxes deducted. That's not the worst deal 😂
$1000 in the 60s is almost 10k today. thats alotta cash to be carrying around in your pockets indeed
What are those blue things because mind is missing the white pieces to go inside of it
That's like 10 grand in 2024 money...
Is anyone just utterly entertained at Harry's shameless greed? Like, he has the vices of his peers, and the qualities to become a better character, and when we first see him we think he's that overlooked nerd that eventually will shine as a decent man. But instead he just leans into his vices like a frat boy that gets better at his disguise. Lust, greed, gluttony, apathy and deceit, vices that eat away at other characters but seem to have no impact on him at all.
Don Draper was #1, but Roger Sterling isn’t just #2, he’s 1A
I love everything about Roger Sterling - and it's hilarious that he walks around with a huge wad of cash for any emergency he will invariably cause.
Made so much sense why he was cast as Howard Stark
Was it allowing your car to crank? And did you find the solution
Roger's character has potential of being its own spin off show (Kind of like Better Call Saul) with all his quirky lines, client meetings, his past, his father, flings with young and old, infact he would be a much bigger womanizer than Don.
"You're gonna owe me. "No I'm not! I just gave you a lot of money!" 😂
Goddamn hilarious scene. Amazing successor to the one where Harry asks for a raise.
With what. We got no money.. It was always in Rodgers pocket...
Do you know what that pin is called? Mine fell out completely 😂
Literally have that problem rn so now I have to drive with ts open so I can take the key out
Late reply to this but your best bet is probably find a g8 at a junkyard. Its getting harder and harder to find parts for this car.
@@zerglyrusher9178 yeah getting closer to selling it and getting a 5.7 Chrysler 300 or sum
I would love to hang out with a guy like Roger. Never a dull moment or lull in the conversation.
Is this every month? 🤣
He'd have been better off simply asking for a salary bump. An extra $100 per month (1960's) for the inconvenience might've worked with Sterling. Roger is the Best. Mostly Roger was just tired of Pete endlessly whining in his ear. Plus Pete's family is politically connected. So realistically Roger pays $100 a month to end the annoyance.
1100 dollars lol thats not even half my mortgage
I love when roger runs out of patience with harry and switches his tone back to boss talking to his employee.
“A 3 star restaurant”. Lol. Basically saying Not a 5 star, because you’re Harry Crane.
A thousand is a months salary and a lot of money.... a thousand is a weeks salary now and is nothing.
3:15 the best part. And camera angle is just perfect :D
$10,800 in 2023.
More than a thousand Harry
In 1965, 1100$ would be worth roughly 10k 2023.
i cannot imagine a more intimidating boss. 0:56 look at the extremely cold color scheme. he's so quick too, the guy could insult me like three different ways with one word.
1100 dollars. Thats more than a thousand.
