Call of Cthulhu is one of the best card games I ever played. It went on to be the Call of Cthulhu LCG so you can get a huge bulk of it quite easy and quite cheap now... And even though it's no longer supported, I highly highly recommend it... Or... The entire database is online so you could proxy the whole thing and give it a shot... ;) Great list...

Cool List, can add BackRooms TCG, Vampire Rivals, few more on here....but Top.

Lol. Using AI to "enhance" their works is still using AI, that is absolutely trained off of other artists works, without their consent. I like my games to have integrity. Any game that uses AI isnt worth your time or money.

Thank you for your video! im making my own tcg right now. Some of the cards will be holographic, and some others will be holo+textured (like on pokemon full arts), but im not finding any informations about the last point online. Also i want to control which parts of the card will be holographic and not (for example, the background will be holo and not the text, etc...). I wanted to know if these companies provide these services, and if they do, what's the process? also, are there other websites? I found an instagram account called creative.holo or something like that, which actually print really cool textured and holo cards, but it seems very expensive. Also, last question : my tcg is about 60 cards, about 10 of them will be holo, and ~15 holo+textured. What would be the price for it? Im sorry if my questions are unclear, or if they've already been answered in the vid, im not english TT. I'll join the discord to find more info anyway.

Race for the Galaxy also uses hand cards as resources Digimon and Patchwork kinda use time as resource. You can overflow your capacity but that'll grant the opponent more resources as tradeoff You didn't highlight the key innovation in Duel Masters: any card can become land. This does remove tutors, so my solution would be to have "non-basic lands" but without summoning sickness

Canva might be a great way to make a game once you’ve already done the art.

I've been using AI for the card art for my TCG. I'm not an artist, and definitely can't afford any lol. It still took some work on my end to get the AI to make the art consistent in style, but it's been extremely helpful. Also can be useful for getting card ideas (power, special abilities, etc). AI will be a helpful tool for many independent creators and only become more and more helpful as time goes on.

How can you change the size of the cards?

I made my own. Its called VSFX. VSFX's rules are simple. To win, you have to make the other opponent's cards "ricited".

yeah it doesn't work, the export in the deck builder doesn't work, doesn't help that you didn't explain to noobs where to export the files rather than just click it quick and explain nothing. Video didn't help

Hello, So if I wanted to create have a 1 true rare card show up in every 10 or so packs ordered, then I would classify the 1 true rare card and have 10 other "rare" cards of the same class. That way each pack bought will have less chances for the 1 true rare card and more chances for the other 10 to be included? Does that make sense? Just want to clarify your work around. I am glad to see another creator not afraid to use AI as an assistant/co game designer. I started making my own homemade TCG called Arcane Apprentice on the HTCG Discord Server and using a custom ChatGPT to help me go through the process is a blessing. It is like being able to give my work to a friend and ask for an honest critique about issues and problems my work has along with possible suggestions. Makes a huge difference. Edit 5:29 - Yes you can lol xP I did it for a game Jam where the cards had to be laid out in a 5x3 grid. EDIT the EDIT - If only I did not pause. 🤣

I hate MTG and Pokemon cards because of that stupid land energy system.

I still believe that the best resource system was force of will. It is like commander with the main unit that has abilities and taps once a turn to pull a mana from your separate mana deck. Before they destroyed the game when they released a card that literally had three abilities and could counter cards an opponent played for free. If you didn't play that commander, you'd be trolling.

Is it legal to sell a card game with artwork created purely by artificial intelligence? I'm developing a TCG, but I don't have the budget to hire an artist, so I'm considering Midjourney or Stable Diffusion as an option.

Wow! Thank you so much for taking the time to look through this. All the comments you made are totally valid. In regards to the TCG confusion, it was originally a TCG but I would've needed to raise twice as much to produce the booster packs. The game doesn't have much of a following atm so it would've been impossible to raise the extra amount. Thank you again so much, I intend to keep putting effort into this project to ensure that it's something people get enjoyment from!

Nasty One's is more of a CCG as far as I can tell. The game runs on a singleton format. (I could be wrong, it's been a while since I playtested it)
