Its only 3 hours away from where I live in Wy. The winters and westher is the same. When I left my houde to go in January it e a s w7 below here got thete dame temp and that was x a high for the day . We are used to winter for the month of Jan to Feb. Being around close to t0 below zero here anyway . Same there with really high wind that condtantly blow average around between 45mph to 65 plus yesr round no big deal for cold or wind we are prepared and ysed to it . Same there

My parents are moving to SD probably next year during school break. We're originally from Washington State, moved to South Carolina and been here since around 1993. Well they're getting older and the muggy humid summers are taking a toll on their health so they want to move somewhere with low humidity and colder weather. When they move, I'll no longer have any family here, and family to me has always been important. I think they're talking about Aberdeen. I've looked into it. Seems like a nice place, not too big and really looks safe and family friendly. I work for the local school district, so I'll probably try to take some work in that field in Aberdeen. Anyone reading this who lives in Aberdeen, I'd love a local to give me some tips. I'd like to know things like where NOT to buy a house. I know nothing about Aberdeen, don't know if there are any bad areas. I'd prefer not to live directly in the city, more on the outskirts or a nearby suburb.

A city is 500,000+….. Sioux Falls and Rapid City are TOWNS…. I played a gig in Sioux Falls in 2023 and went searching for food afterwards…..ONE fast food place open. Played in Sioux City, IA the next night and had steak and eggs at 1:00 am!

Rural? A positive. Cell phone service? I don't have a cell phone and have not had one for 14 years. Don't intend to buy one. I DO like Starlink for my computer, however. No rules/No covenants? I own 800 acres and I'm fine because I don't have any neighbors to speak of. Easements? I traipse through my property to get to my lodge... no road, which is fine with me. Snow? Bring it on... I live far north and I love the snow, the deeper the better. I have snow shoes and a snowmobile with a winch in case I get stuck. Just winch to a tree and let 'er rip! That works great! OK so that was the last item. Looks like I'm in! Woohoo!! Yep; keep it like it is.

Can you talk about the crime rate and homeless problem in Rapid City? What is being done to address these problems?

I just got back form the Black Hills and I explored all over from Rapid City to Whitewood, Spearfish, Deadwood, Lead, Custer, Keystone, and others places. One of the things I loved most was that I did not see a single "pride" flag. There must be some, but I was very happy to not see that being celebrated everywhere. The Black Hills are beautiful, I hope it stays that way.

I can take the worst winter for 2-3 months but I get tired of it by March, so if it’s still winter in April then no thanks

Great video and tips! I am spending my first summer in Spearfish, SD and absolutely LOVE it! People are so friendly and welcoming and there's so much to do for a small town. Not sure about the winters as I've experienced some harsh ones having lived in Chicago and WI for many years. I think I could live here year round but we shall see what happens ...

You didn't mention that we get the cold below zero temps from the arctic and Canadian air plus we get the below zero wind chill.

Hello Christian. My wife and I are trying to move out there for a better life for our children. Currently we are unfortunately in California and we want out. Are we able to talk to you about the way of life out there and the cost of living. Please let me know if we can talk for a little bit. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

On the east side of SD, initially wanted to live in Rapid City but my wife wanted to be closer to her family, who now want nothing to do with us (their problem). Anyways, this area has been 'okay' at best and living outside the SF area in a small town has been the biggest mistake. We're from a small town but IF you're not form here or your kids are special needs / not into sports they do not give your kids support and there is a TON of bullying in the smaller towns. We recently visited Rapid City for few hours as we were passing through and the people were much nicer and reminded us of home. We currently looking into moving out that direction in the next 1-2 months.

Spent a winter in Rapid in 53 and loved it. Great school and friendly people. I was a kid from Alabama so how could I not love it. Remember Picnics in the snow at Stockade Lake. Loved the Black Hills and western history.

I live in SD and the Black Hills/Rapid City is definitely not the place you wanna live!!! The Crime rate is higher than anywhere else in SD, so tryin to hype it up is only to benefit your real estate endeavors! The western part of SD is so much worse than you claim! Eastern SD is much better as far as weather, crime, and price of livin! Western SD is funded by tourism! SD Governor Kristi Noem killed her 10 month old dog, so no SD is not a dog state!!! You love tryin to manipulate people dont you?!?

Where I live, that´s not even called a winterstorm, that´s just a normal day in november 😀 But I live on the same latitude as for example the borders between BC and Yukon in Canada 😬

It can take 25-30 minutes in the city to get to a store. Traffic and lights slows things down !
